:LOL::LOL::LOL:
She looks like Winston from Jackie Brown in a bad wig and with about a hundred extra pounds.

Not even reddit is buying this garbage
Yep, I saw the main Lord of the Rings subreddit dragging it yesterday. Of course you have the occasional SJW keyboard warrior popping up, but for the most part they hate this shit.
I made it to the 10 second mark in that video.
I sincerely hope the dipshit that organized that video gets fired. I sincerely doubt any of those people have read a Tolkien book, let alone being "superfans".

Oy vey. As if you needed more reasons to think this series will suck balls:

All you have to know about New LOTR TV series producer:

As it turned out, Amazon fired Thomas Alan Shippey. English professor of literature, philology and writer. He worked and taught at Oxford, Leeds and St. Louis Universities, where he studied medieval literature, science fiction and fantasy. He is one of the most authoritative researchers of Tolkien's work on the planet. Mariana Rios Maldonado was chosen to take his place as Tolkien's "chief consultant". Not at all a specialist in Tolkien's work, but a student at the University of Glasgow where she writes a doctoral thesis on "Ethics, Femininity and other issues in the stories of J.R.R. Middle-earth". Tolkien". She also serves as overseer of the Diversity and Equality student committee. She publicly states that she considers Tolkien's works "problematic", that they glorify racial inequality, sexism and chauvinism. And his works are loved by people adhering to neo-fascist views. She considers herself morally and intellectually superior to Tolkien, and therefore works tirelessly to turn the Myths of Arda into a modern, adapted and corrected version that will appeal to everyone.

i swear these goombas/koopa troopas always come up with the weirdest biggest words in the dictionary like who has even heard the word chauvinism or latinx until they started saying it? I also find it really funny this goombas twitter is in lockdown mode.

The trailer video on the Amazon Prime YT channel now has over 1.5 million dislikes and a mere 112k likes. Whoof.
But of course. Tolkien fandom is one of the most rabid and nitpicky fanbases on the planet. They don't give a fuck if you call them racist/sexist/transphobe whatever. Dare to desecrate the Professor's work and you will feel their wrath.

Nothing in the teaser looked like it had that kind of money behind it. The hell did they spend all the money on? Overpaying the mandatory diverse hires behind the scenes? 3 million dollar catering, but it's a minority owned business. Huzzah.

The rights alone to make a series set with the Tolkien IP set them back 250 Million.

They'd honestly have been better off making their own original IP for way less money because no one likes what they are seeing outside of Amazon Studios Diversity Team. It's going to be an absolute shitshow.

And, of course, they'll have the wrong takeaway when it fails.

^ These are the two numbnuts responsible

Look at their Quality CV to date:

They're not only writing the next Star Trek but have been attached to adaptations of Flash Gordon, Godzilla Vs. King Kong, Micronauts, Midas, Goliath, The Deadliest Warrior, and Boilerplate. They also worked on Star Trek: Beyond with Roberto Orci on a script so this will not be their first ride on the Starship Enterprise, although Doug Jung and Simon Pegg ended up finishing Beyond.

Payne and McKay wrote the upcoming Jungle Cruise movie for Dwayne Johnson, based on the Disneyland ride. Now, if they can get a whole movie out of a ride, then the Tolkien trilogy – plus prequel and appendices – should be more than enough source material for a long-running TV series.

It's going to be glorious

So is that $57M per episode figure basically saying ($250M for licensing / Total number of episodes) + $XM per episode of actual filming = $57M per episode?

Because that's an annoying way to word it. Can't wait for the shitshow to go down in flames, though lol

Trailers often come out way ahead of time before serious polished vfx work is finished. Usually they have their own separate schedule and it's just a shite fight to get it done in time when the pipeline is still in flux and rigs and models are still being developed. Then comp have to mash together the elements. I've worked on shows where shots shown in the trailer had a completely different look in the final film.

Havjng said all that, it doesn't mean this won't look terrible, just the trailer is not necessarily an indication.

September can't get soon enough. This deserves to be shit on like Wheel of Time.

Very curious about the reception of that series. Looks like an absolute trainwreck, but at this point in time, I'm not confident in predicting anything tbh.

Let the shilling commence

"I for one am excited," he said. "I saw the preview for it, and it gave me chills. It looked like they got it. I've been saying the whole time, they're gonna do it right. There's no way Amazon is gonna pay almost a billion dollars for a franchise just to screw it up."

For shame Sean, for shame.
