It annoys me that nobody in the media is willing to call this out for what it is. A bunch of creatives who are not actually talented enough to make their own original content being paid by a mega corporation to make an advert for their streaming service so that they can make even more money.

The media are not going to call out anybody because they're complicit in this horseshit. The last few years of pop culture entertainment has been media running defense for an abundance of crap because of incompetence and this insane desire to virtue signal. Star Wars, Doctor Who, Dungeons & Dragons, Marvel & DC Comics, etc. It's not the fault of the creators for why these new iterations having failed but because the fans are bigoted, racist and unwilling to deal with change.

That's what the media wants you to believe. Now Tolkien is the latest victim of this woke cycle.

I don't have a clue how Hollywood works. To me it seems like there is this studio and it says we want this movie. And they try to find someone who's gonna do it but doesn't give a shit. At leas that's how it's nowadays.

And back then it often (obviously not always) it felt like there was a director pitching an idea he was really into to a studio and if the studio was convinced, the movie was made.

Of course that's most probably absolutely wrong but that's how I think about it. People don't give a shit and only want the paycheck. So we have this garbage.

So just found out today that on Amazon Prime, The LOTR and The Hobbit trilogies are now available.

No doubt they were put up by Amazon to get people hyped up for the series. But these films by Peter Jackson just serve to remind us that The Rings of Power looks like shite in comparison. It's bad enough that the LOTR trilogy looks far superior despite being 20 years old, but even The Hobbit movies for all their flaws still look better.

Oh well. At least it gives me a chance to watch the movies again without having to take out my dvds. Thanks for that Amazon, but fuck your tv show.

It's telling that in the same interview he asked them for a script if they wanted his involvement, then they never got back to him. Pretty obvious they went into this shitshow with no clear idea of how to proceed.

Tolkien's Legendarium is based around Scandinavian and Celtic mythology, which as far I know, is predominantly WHITE. If these wokie SJWs at Amazon wanted a "diverse" and "inclusive" fantasy show, then Tolkien's work was probably the wrong IP to adapt.

Hoo boy. What exactly is the point of this series? Is the realm of Elves and Men in danger of being overrun by the Darkness and now boss queen Galadriel has to take up the sword to fight it?

If these cunts making this show had actually read the Silmarillion (which they don't have the rights to fortunately), they'd know that the Second Age of Middle Earth is one long list of Ls the good guys from our boy Sauron. To list the stuff he did:

- Tricks the elves into forging the Three Great Rings, then himself gives the Seven Rings to the Dwarves and the NIne Rings to the Kings of Men. And of course, forges the One Ring to dominate all the others. He then turns the Nine into the Nazgul, drives the Dwarves greed further which ruins them. Only the Elves are spared because they are wise to his plans and take their Rings off.
- Successfully seduces the King of Numenor to launch an invasion fleet on the Undying Lands, the home of the Valar. The Valar then destroy the fleet and Numenor itself for their betrayal. The survivors of the cataclysm then make landfall on Middle Earth to found the kingdoms of Arnor and Gondor.
- Sauron raises a great army to finally crush the Numenoreans, who are now allied with the Elves in a Last Alliance to stand against him. The battle ends when Sauron is defeated, at the cost of Elendil, the High KIng of the Dunedain, and Gil-Galad, the last High Elven King. But the One Ring he forged is not destroyed and is lost with time.

So what's the point of watching this series when we all know the good guys will lose? It's only until the Third Age in The Lord of Rings when the forces of good are finally able to end the threat of Sauron with the destruction of the One Ring. I don't want to watch 5 seasons of the good guys getting their asses kicked!
