Thread: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom |OT| The Sky's the Limit - [Strong Internet Recommended]

Officially twenty Shrines away from completing every single Shrine. Found one on Eventide Island today and made a nice boat that I saved on the favorites list. I think it's time to make a strong push with these Sky Islands again. Hard to focus on one task for too long in this game, but I'm hoping to go into the final battle as strong as possible

So many tasks in this game, I'm getting closer to all Shrines completed and maxed out my weapon, bow, and shield stashes. 22,000 plus rupees currently and Hyrule Compendium is getting close to completion. Eventually, I'll be running out of sidequests to do as well in a month or two. It looks like I'm moving closer towards finally getting close to seeing all the secrets this game has to offer. But there are still a sizeable amount left. Absolutely massive game filled with secrets. I just wish everything felt as rewarding as the N64 games in regards to the items you gain. But to be fair, the N64 Zelda games were close to perfection. As close as any video game is going to get at least

I've been trying to clear a lot of markers that I put down on the map (mainly Korok Leafs and Person markers for Addison propping up Hudson Construction Hyrule Restoration signs) and what I'm doing now is tackling the Sky. Trying to find all Shrines because I only have ten left in total. And also to find all the important treasures, namely the attire as well as Sage Medallions since only eight left to collect. The sidequests that are left to donate all kind of difficult ones so that should be challenging when I dial in there. Running low on Zonaite as well... I'm going to have to wage war underground with all the gloom-ridden fiends below Hyrule and steal all their Zonaite

After conquering the Sky I'll head over to Lanayru area again and begin helping Prince Sidon and Lady Yona again. I have so much material still even after selling portions of it several times. I'm going to make use of a lot of it going forward and part with it as well; selling a sizeable chunk of my inventory. Oh yeah, I gotta buy that house pretty soon too in Akkala so that I can store some legendary weapons I've been hanging onto

I'm so glad that there are markers for this game. Without them, there's no way I'd manage to chip away at seeing all of the territory. Sometimes I'm just peering at the map for minutes, seeing what's next to venture to

I've seen a portion of the Sky, and am continuing to find treasures and conquer the Sky region. Total of eight Shrines to go, and then I'll have found them all. I've been a bit fixated on the smaller things recently so that I can finish this chapter in Zelda strong. Not too long from now, I'll put a close on the Switch era Zelda games. After Echoes of Wisdom, we might have to wait another two or three years before another substantial entry in the series comes along...

But this was all for the better, I'm eager to get to the story bits again so I'll find that fellow Zora, the one that Prince Sidon has informed me about. Apparently he's an older Zora. I'm not too certain, but the Water Temple looks like it will be a breeze tbh. I only glanced over it for 10 minutes or so but I can see it being easy. Traditionally, Water Temple levels have been kind of elaborate in the 3D Zelda games, so I'll see

There are only two leaf icons on the map for Hyrule now, I've just about found and delivered all those Koroks to their friends. Soon I'll tackle all the Addison or Hudson Construction sign posts and be done with that. Then there should be a lot of icons left for excursions in the Sky now. It's so easy to find yourself going to the same spots over and over again in this massive overworld. This is probably the first time since The Wind Waker that the map is crucial and necessary to utilize. This game's overworld is much better than Breath of the Wild's overworld, I'll never understand those who think BOTW is the better game. TOTK is so much better than BOTW. If Nintendo trimmed the fat and refused to waste people's time with all the fluff it would be much better though. If I never see another Korok after this game, I would be perfectly fine with that lol

Five Shrines left to go, 498 Korok Seeds to go, and 5 Sage Medallions left to go. I kind of want to find all the Bubulfrog Gems and help Addison at all the areas he's posting up signs. I don't care about finding the Korok Seeds, but the rest I kind of do want to find everything. Who knows if I'll do all the sidequests, the sidequests in BOTW were incredibly hard to complete, some of them. In TOTK it's not nearly as difficult but there are some head scratchers

I finished that entire portion of the level there, with the King, Prince Sidon, Yona, and the royal guard of Zora that watch over and protect Zora's Domain

Kind of a mediocre adventure there tbh. The best part for me was Prince Sidon, he's an excellent character. I also thought it was kind of nice searching for the King and how he was gravely wounded but it was by one of the weakest mini bosses ever... That was disappointing. I think my favorite part about this level are the Zora themselves and how they were doing their best to protect their water source and home. In Twilight Princess the Zora were empty characters to the max, but here in BOTW they're the best they've ever been imo since the N64 era of TLoZ games

The Water Temple at first was exciting because I discovered it entirely by accident. But once you get up there with Prince Sidon you realize it's not very spectacular at all. Fairly plain and messy area but I enjoyed the puzzles here more than the Stormwind Arc in Hebra. The boss was joke. All that damage and sludge caused by a pesky Octorok who looks like that? Tiny little thing and not intimidating at all, although his war cry wasn't half bad for such a little enemy. Still very disappointing though, bigger bosses are better. A lot more intimidation going on when you fight a boss much larger than you. Among other things that a tiny enemy simply will not bring to a boss fight experience but I digress. The boss was essentially a weaker, more mobile, seafood version of a Molduga found in the Gerudo Desert

It's very clear to me now that Nintendo needs to trim the day with these Zelda games. The amount of filler content is clearly cutting into overall quality of each level and that's a difficult pill to swallow as a fan

I did some more sidequests and adventures but a handful still have me stumped for the time being. Today I also learned a little bit about the Great Sky Island after a test (lighting the three fires) across the land of the Great Sky Island. Entering a final push here, there's still plenty to do, but I'm getting closer to unraveling all the mysteries of this game

Dondons are ancestors to horses and they create precious gems out of stones apparently. I'm going to check this out later and see if these Dondons can whip up some diamonds

I'm on the hunt for that rumored beast that Zelda has been spotted with. This mystery has spanned the entirety of my playthrough which is shocking because I've been chipping away at virtually everything all at once and that's why my playthrough has lasted this ridiculously long, in part. But I'm kind of wondering if it's supposed to be an end of the game sort of reveal or what because I've searched for it with no luck for a while now. Guess there's no reason to rush anything though, secrets are everywhere in this world

Might be time for me to finish the game, this is by far the longest a Zelda game has ever lasted me and probably ever will last going forward. To such an extent, that a new Zelda game came out before I was even 75% finished with TOTK lol

Right now I'm probably at like 80% completed with everything. And I want to finally see what takes place at the end. And from there, I can put this game to the side and treat it as a relaxation and meditative game to go return to and play some. With the ending completed, I can finally read this thread in full too, which will be fun. There's so much in this game that the amount you can gloss over or not even realize is just staggering. Yesterday, I figured out that the Master Sword can be 'thrown" and it will send a slash and you never lose the legendary weapon of course. Thought that was amazing and it took me 650 hours to finally realize it 🤣

Another thing I learned after like a million hours of playing was that you can shoot down mushrooms growing on cliffs and canyons etc with arrows and you get the arrow back. If I had known that I'd have like 300-400 more Rushshrooms right now

It's done

Somebody hand me my cookie (from EarthBound)

Seriously though, this game is freakin' enormous. I played TOTK for almost 17 months. One of a kind video game for sure. I wanted to do and see as much as possible before facing off against the final boss. Ending was stronger than I was expecting and I was more satisfied with this game than BOTW, even though both are excellent games, have their own unique pros and cons and a ton to offer. I'm not entirely done with the game and I'll maybe come back to it to finish off the sidequests and things like that, but for right now it's just satisfying to have completed TOTK

Can we transfer NS game data over to the NS2 Edition's file? I might go back and play some more if that's possible. This game's exploration and sidequests are almost never ending

Do you guys think that Nintendo will ever pick back up near the same place in the timeline again? Somewhere either slightly before/during/after the events of BOTW or TOTK? It feels like the overall story might not be good enough to come back any time soon even though it seems like there might be an interesting idea not yet discovered or waiting to happen

Tbh I want there to be no return to this saga in the TLoZ timeline but co-op mode would be great if they intend to set the next game around another massive overworld. I wouldn't mind adventuring alongside 1-3 other characters as long as it doesn't take away from the experience any

I would have liked to have rebuilt Hyrule in Tears of the Kingdom. Have new towns settled. Castletown being a derelict ruin was a waste, though Lookout Landing was likely the start of a new rebuilding.

Both BotW and TotK had enough room for 20 Ocarina Tier Dungeons.

TotK retconning, downplaying Shiekah tech/divine Beasts and outright ignoring events of Breath of the Wild was outright jarring and speaks to conflict with writers room/6 years of development with little focus on the story.

Maybe Age of Imprisonment will do something interesting with Ancient Hyrule more then the brief glimpses from TotK.

I have so many screenshots of this game. One day if Nintendo ever makes it easier to upload them and share them I'll post them ITT. But the current method only allows 10 screenshots at a time and it's not time efficient at all
