From my extended play session today!

Looking better than I remember.
I hated the first one but the sequel is one of my all time favs. How strange :p

Hogwarts Legacy, PC. In this part of the castle, performance is pretty bad with large stutters. It's an asset loading mess, bad optimization. Still, looks nice.

Would it stutter with a Ryzen 7800x3d and RTX 4090?

I don't know. Performance is fine for the most part, I had zero stutters in the opening section. Just running through the largest part of Hogwarts where you attend the first classes has these huge stutter periods, which are not GPU related so the 4090 won't help one bit.

It seems like the asset streaming and culling is fucked. I have a 13600k, a 7300mbs SSD, and 5600mhz DDR5 RAM... Yet it stutters like crazy in that part of Hogwarts. Granted, it's all maxed out with RT, it being a huge factor because it's a UE4 game and we all know how bad that engine is with traversal, asset streaming and RT.

Chances are, that you'll have these stutters. Because they're an engine issue, not a hardware issue. But that's just my guess, can't say for sure.

Yeah, I'm willing to bet I would have the same stutters. I'm using 5600mhz DDR5 RAM and a Samsung 980 Pro storage drive. Maybe if my SSD was a lot faster it would help alleviate the issue...... pretty absurd and ridiculous. I haven't played Hogwarts yet but it's on my radar.

Man what an amazing game Stellar Blade was. My launch screenshots. Yeah EVE is a stunner but the game is just fantastic and environments are so good.

Didn't know where else to post this, mods feel free to move this somewhere better, isn't worth it's own thread, we all know about AI and the speed of progress.

I am flabbergasted though, gaming is going to be fucking nuts in the next gen or two. Still work to do, but you can see what devs will be able to do very soon, maybe they can finally fucking focus on improving game mechanics beyond Crysis and Half Life 2 now.
