Thread: Nintendo-Pad |OT|
Official Thread
When does the reveal/hype thread go up? And who is doing it?

It would probably be easier to just add the reveal to the Switch 2 announcement thread Franky was talking about at the end of the last page:

I just hope that they don't make us wait too long for the actual release. 🙏

"Dev kits expected in June"…. for the rabble that leaks this kind of info for clout. No way on Earth Capcom, Ubisoft, etc., don't have kits or the preferred indie "partners".

I'd assume the bigger developers all have kits to help pad out the launch period and that this only pertains to dev kits being more widespread sent out. That's assuming if this rumor is true at all.

I always feel like the prediction of a earlier launch is just wishful thinking.

The were showing off BotW at the E3 before the March launch of Switch. So that's 9 months out. First look at Switch in October so thats still a few months out.

I don't see them having a Direct on April 2 and the console is in stores by June. I'd be more inclined to believe in a September or October launch so that they can have the treehouse events etc over the summer.

Great if its June but I expect a few unhappy people on April 2nd when it's an October launch or something like that.

Sony announced their launch date for PS5 on September 16th for a November 12th launch.

So about 8 weeks?

Could be last week of May to first week of June for Switch 2.

Doubt it would be shorter than that.

My guess in an earlier thread is May 8th, 2025. We only need to wait another week to find out

Because it's Nintendo, and they do things that sometimes don't make any sense... the two things that make an earlier launch seem likely are 1) Switch 2's are already being sold (black market) and 2) the product is already shipping to retailers.

Next week, be ready to preorder.

I'm not preordering. I want to experience the rush of going to the store, fighting my way to the Nintendo section, beating back the other customers, securing my Switch 2, buying it and then driving home in triumph.

Would be so cool if that were possible these days.

Maybe it was never possible. I didn't buy my first consoles myself and couldn't tell you if we got them weeks, months or years after launch.

I know for me that everything from the original 3DS and PS3 onwards the options were preorder or wait for months for the things to get back in stock.

I'd be so surprised if it's only a 5 week lead up to launch.

To me that means the launch titles are few and not worth major hype.

Remember we haven't actually gotten an official Switch 2 game announcement yet.

Very weird for a company that likes to do a teaser then a full trailer with date then a treehouse and maybe hands on events then a specific direct and then a couple of weeks of build up to launch.

I just don't buy that Nintendo is sitting on a new 3D Mario or Zelda or some kind of game-changing idea for Mario Kart and it's only a month or two from launch and we've heard and seen nothing.

Remember, we saw the official title reveal for Breath of the Wild was June 2016 for March 2017 launch and Mario Odyssey was officially announced in January 2017 for an October 2017 launch.

If this console is coming in late May/early June then where are the games?

It worries me that the big selling point is going to be performance enhancements on Switch games, probably for a fee, or something like Metroid in June but nothing truly huge for a long time.

Mario Kart 9 is a big deal but is it really what people are excited about?

Maybe it's different in Australia. I got the 3DS, Wii U and Switch within a couple of months of launch at the gaming store. I remember the PS5 was out of stock for ages, but I wasn't in the market for that.

I worked at a distributor during the 360/PS3/Wii era. Everything was so heavily allocated, i.e. Gamestop gets guaranteed set amount of units which then trickles down to store pre-orders (hopefully), but also distributors have all the leverage so they'll hold on to units to make deals for accessories and games… the margin in consoles barely covers shipping and credit card fees. If you're shipping by air, forget about it. Not even worth selling it solo. If you wonder where scalpers are getting all their product… let's just say they're not all hitting F5 faster than you.

I would definitely pre-order if you want a Switch 2 this year. Also keep in mind hardware allocation moves around territories too, like when Splatoon drops in Japan all produced Switches are going there.

Oh shit! This will be wild if true:

"The function of the Nintendo Switch 2 new Joy-Con controller C button has yet to be officially revealed, but there's the chance that we will get to celebrate the unexpected return of the Wii U console when it will, according to rumors circulating online.

In a new video shared today, eXstas1s, who proved to be an overall reliable insider in the past, revealed that, according to their sources, the C button will be used, among other things, to connect the Nintendo Switch 2 to an original Switch console to use it as a controller or an additional screen, essentially turning the previous generation console into something akin to the Wii U GamePad. As not every Nintendo Switch 2 user may also be the owner of its predecessor, there's no doubt that this connectivity feature will be completely optional, but, on the other hand, it could open up some very interesting possibilities, such as proper emulation of Nintendo DS and 3DS games.

While eXstas1s has proven to be somewhat reliable in the past, we have to take this Nintendo Switch 2 rumor with a grain of salt until the C button functionality is officially revealed next week. At the same time, a patent that emerged online earlier this month suggested some sort of dual-screen functionality for the system, so the ability to use the original Switch as a second screen doesn't sound all that improbable."

It would only really matter to me if it lets me play 4p local WiFi games off one system e.g. Nintendo DS cart download-sharing.

With the new game card lending idea, I wonder if Nintendo will offer a similar share-download feature again.

I have signed up for notifications from Bets Buy and GameStop. Know of any others to sign up for? Looks like Wal-Mart, Target and Amazon do not have a sign up...yet.

Best Buy and Gamestop are the only major ones with one up that I know of. I'm personally keeping tabs on Walmart, Best Buy, and Amazon.

Exciting, until I realize I'd be using the Joy-Cons as a controller.

Fuck all that! I'm watching the Direct in the Gamestop parking lot with some Five Guys.

I gave you a gold star because this is 100 percent true and factual.

Mario Kart with blueshells and Mario Party are easily Monopoly Tier.

I don't mind the chaos in Mario Party, I live for those games they're always fun. But the Blue Shell in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a killer. I kind of hate it and respect it at the same time because it goes directly in the middle of the road the entire way through so it's punishing players who aren't cutting corners and trying to shave time off their laps. There is so much to learn in Mario Party and Mario Kart games now, Nintendo has stepped up their game a lot in recent years. From Wii + Wii U days to Nintendo Switch when it comes to MP and MK? It's night and day. The quality jumped up several levels imo

I've been thinking how dumb that Nintendo app was and how lacklustre it was to close off the direct. Now I'm wondering if they'll be offering preorders through it. Seems like a Nintendo thing to do. Might be worth downloading for those of you who are trying to secure a Switch 2

I like it fine. Switch 2 launch it will be interesting to see how well they use it to disseminate info in the next few weeks. Would be interesting if they do anything pre-order wise.

I'm more pissed they didn't update the Nintendo Music app with XCX OST… really what's the point if not for doing exactly that kind of stuff?
