I was just in GameStop returning a game and the dude there says he thinks preorders will be starting either after the Direct on the 2nd or the 9th. He has heard both dates floated around.

Those Gamestop/Eb employees know literally nothing. They speculate based on internet information like the rest of us. I know a girl who worked for Nintendo (I know, I know) as a service representative for years and she told me flat out that not even they know anything significantly ahead of the rest of us. They'd find out information after it was announced. Only the real higher up's have any information in advance so they could plan marketing and what not.

The amount of leaks there would be if anybody on ground level knew this stuff would be insane. Gamestop employees don't know anything and anyone saying "I heard this" or "my sources say" is just reading shit off the internet to seem like they are important and "in the know".

I think Nintendo should do all the sales of the console if the retailers refuse to limit scalpers in a meaningful way. I will be really disappointed if they turn this into another shitshow like the PS5 launch was.

I am seeing a few news outlets (probably the same source) saying the 9th is the date. I can believe that since Amazon, Walmart and Target don't even have their preorder notification system up yet.

But i'll still be locked and ready tuesday.

Imagine Nintendo drops a 5 minute trailer in the 2nd and then says stay tuned for the next Switxh 2 direct on July 12th lol. What a boss troll move.
Remember Switxh 1 had a little trailer before the games reveal. The one where people were playing on the b ball court and everyone made fun of the rooftop party. We saw a little bit of MK 8 Mario Splatoon skyrim and NBA.
I would laugh so hard if that's what the April 2nd direct is. Just a trailer showing someone playing a switch in mouse mode and showing 2 second clips of games on the switch screen.

That first Switch trailer that showed off a bunch of games didn't actually have a firm release date. It was just "March 2017". Trailer dropped in late October 2016 so about 5 months out from launch.

Right now we've got Mario Kart 9 and that's it.

I don't think the Switch 2 Direct is going to be too crazy.

Honestly surprised there haven't been more substantial leaks at this stage.

Ya that's what I mean. Imagine they do the same thing lol.
That first trailer where they showed the chick take her switch on her rooftop. They didn't show games until the big blowout where the showed Arms and 1 2 Switch.
Nintendo drops a little trailer and then says coming 2025 and drops a June or July direct date where they actually show the games....

But if they did that there would be a riot. They need to show games price and launch date or I think they will lose any good will and tons of sales
That last direct was pathetic so if they don't come out bigly on Wed they will have dug themselves a massive grave

The last Direct should have honestly just been a video that they drop on YouTube with no fanfare.
They are victims of their own hype sometimes.

If this thing is supposed to be launching in June then I am a bit skeptical about leaving it until April to drop news about games etc.

I agree, but the way it works, is that they probably made pledges to these devs/publishers to showcase their games in a Direct. So even if it feels underwhelming they have to honor it. Its the same when you sign up for the Summer Game shit, VG Awards or Sony/MS showcases. Yes there are always ways to wriggle out of the obligation (like VG Awards has a caveat about time constraints), but its in the best interest of the showcase holder to honor those agreements. Studios spend time/money preparing the demos and expect a certain number of eyes.

And with what was shown, doing it after the full Switch 2 reveal would have been very negative for some of the developers. A lot of "that looks last gen" type flippant remarks.

Though since it was so close to the reveal, they got just as many "what no switch 2!?!?" comments.

You're more blackpilled about the Switch 2 than @Stouffers was during the election

I wouldn't say that's always true. I had a buddy at EB and he'd always relay info he'd get from head office about stuff like this and it was accurate.

The direct from last week should have been i feburary. Do a blowout on metroid for about 10 mins showing a walk through of a level and some combat. Drop a release date. Then the end should have been that Switch2 teaser that they shadow dropped stand alone. Still have the April 2nd date for the next Switch 2 direct.
The games would have still been end of life cycle crap but everyone would have freaked out over the Switch 2 teaser and called it the best direct ever.
I wonder if they were supposed to do thet but pulled the Direct for whatever reason and shadow dropped the switch 2 teaser as a stand alone instead.
I am joking about the troll job. Since there are hands on planned for April and may there 100% has to be software shown.
They will at least show Mario Kart. Some sort of casual type game like 1 2 Switch. Which is Probably something that shows off the mouse function. I suspect a Switch OG Remaster game running at close to 4K maybe BOTW that was rumored and a 3rd party game. Oh and probably a new IP like Arms was a new IP on Switch.
So on the tours you get Kart this new IP the Remaster game the 3rd party game and the casual game to try out at the hands on.

Alright gentlemen, help me pick my voucher game now that it's confirmed it won't work on switch 2 games:

Mario Party Jamboree
Donkey Kong country
Mario and Luigi Brotherhood

I'm leaning toward jamboree but wanted input first.

Mario & Luigi: Brothership is one of the worst rpgs you will ever play. Don't even think about using your voucher on that trash

Oh wait I thought you got to choose two. Super Mario Party Jamboree is definitely one of the top five greatest Mario Party games ever made. If it's my call, I place it at 3rd all time because you just can't top the historical significance of what Mario Party 2 and Mario Party 3 did for the franchise and they are excellent games always have been. But on a technical level, Super Mario Party Jamboree to me is the greatest Mario Party game ever created. Boards are outstanding; Nintendo Cube absolutely killed it there. Minigames are very fun and competitive. The items are very fun to think about purchasing and using as well to impact the game. A game of 20 Turns is going to take about 2 hours 20 minutes but it's totally worth it. Time flies by every time you play

I've only played DKC: Tropical Freeze but I pre-ordered DKCR and ended up not purchasing it. One day maybe, but not for a while

Tropical freeze if that's the one you're talking, if you mean dkcr then no just get Jamboree. Fuck brotherhood what a waste of time that was.

It's still only $19.99 bros, get it while it lasts. A sale like this tells me that Nintendo wants one last wave of fans getting a chance to play and that maybe a new Mario RPG will be announced in coming months during a Nintendo Direct. After all, we've seen plenty of them on the Nintendo Switch from Paper Mario: The Origami King, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Remake, Mario & Luigi: Brothership (worst Mario RPG of all time btw) and Super Mario RPG. Seems like Mario RPGs are having their time on the Switch family just like most rpgs are on these consoles

Not available in Canada but I would bite at that price.

Looking forward to playing The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker again on the NS2. And this time, hopefully, 100% completing the game. Tried to do everything during a second playthrough in like... 2013 or so but it's not easy. I wanna say there are even some scenarios that can completely ruin the completionist run if you don't snap a pic of certain things (or maybe it was only enemies) and miss your window of opportunity?
