Some people don't pirate games. A steam deck likely won't run certain Switch games well, let alone many native Switch 2 games. No way in hell games that push the Switch 2 hardware can be emulated reasonably on a steamdeck. OLED "option" is a lot more costly.

Steamdeck has a points in its favor for sure but putting up dishonest comparisons is self defeating.

Seriously, I love my Steam Deck but I have no problem paying for Switch 2 and its games as well. Honestly, the Steam Deck + Switch 2 combo gives a window into my plan from here on out, which is to basically ditch the PlayStation and Xbox and just go PC and Nintendo. I believe I will be completely satisfied with this combo and I hope I'm right.

Much of the PlayStation library has already made the transition to PC so you really do get all bases covered going PC + Nintendo.

Larger, 1080p, 120Hz screen. Better performance in mutually available titles. Removable controls with non-handheld options. Built-in stand. Exclusive Nintendo games.

The Deck is the device I'd get for my own entertainment, certainly, but the Switch 2 is not without merit. Asking why anyone would buy a Switch 2 is like asking why anyone would buy a new iPhone.

And the (some) Switch games part is disingenuous btw, it has better percentage compatibility to Switch than Steam Deck has to Steam's games.

Lol 399 us not the price of the OLED. That's 549. 399 is the base LCD 800p panel.
And it plays all those games illegally. Sure we can take those points but alot of people don't want to do roms. And it won't play Switch 2 games.
But yes if you want a pocket PC to play in handheld only buy a steam deck. People buy Nintendo systems for Nintendo games. Sometimes it works like the Wii and sometimes it fails like the WiiU.
I mean why would you buy a steamdeck when you can buy a series S. In dev mode it plays all retro games through emulation. You have gamepass for all free Xbox first party games and 100s of others. And it's 1440p gaming and only 299 cheaper than the steam Decks 549 price tag.

The Steam Deck is starting to show its age and is struggling with newer AAA games. SW2 will have less trouble running newer games

My question on steam deck is what happens when you output to TV? It has an 800p screen so it's not running games at high resolutions right? And does it have a docked mode that ups the clock speeds ?
I have not seen any videos about running a steam deck on TV and cranking the resolution between 1080 or 4k and what that does to performance.

So i can insert my BotW cart into a Switch 2 and receive a performance boost or are they making me double dip? Is there plans for this in other games?

Please advise dpad ty

Hahaha no no. No you're paying full price all over again. You're paying $80. Though the people in the comments are muppets, there's an obvious resolution and framerate bump on display there.

Is $549 with dock? $399 sales or refurbish I've seen didn't come with dock.

From what I recall, there is no clock improvement playing the Steam Deck Docked and pefromance can get very choppy running anything new at 1080p.

Oh. So it's only $10 after spending another $50-$70 for the Expansion Pack? And..this person has no issue with this? This is retarded. If you own the fuckin game already it should be $10. Not $10 hidden behind a paywall for another service you may or may not even want to use.

No, it's free if you're an expansion pass member. $10 if not

I heard slight improvements from non enhance games. I'm not 100% sure, so much information or misinformation out.

But the enhanced upgrade is around $10 or free with NSO expansion.

There are games that are not Nintendo enhanced editions that do have improvements. I think one on the list was odyssey and links awakening. I am guessing these games will just take advantage of more memory/clock speeds and probably run at more stable frames and less dynamic res. But they won't get 1440p/4k versions and if they were 30 they won't go to 60. And of course no added DLC.
Like pricing it will be up to publishers to do what they want and things will vary. Some pubs might go all in and add free upgrades some might create a switch edition and some might do nothing.

549 is oled version with no dock. Still 800P screen.
That's one thing about these handheld PCs they are handheld. Sure you can output then to TVs. I mean i was outputting my phone to my TV in 2012 with micro HDMI. You can output anything to TV. But they aren't designed that way. They don't come with docks. They don't upclock in a docked mode. They don't have detachable controllers. It's a different beast.

Dude I know you gotta get your kicks in but you're falling for every misunderstanding and misinformation so far and the system isn't even out yet.

Yeah kinda like Playstation did it.

Seems silly since better hardware should just yknow... natively run older software more efficiently like on PC and Xbox, but not overly egregious by any means

Thanks

My lack of reading comprehension means I failed you and almost cost Nintendo a preorder and I'm sorry for that. Feel free to get your preorder in now. All is well.
