I'm sure their rationalization is that having a story mode like this brings in more casual gamers, thereby expanding the fanbase. But, I don't see how it could have had this effect on sales.
Did millions of casual gamers buy it because they heard about it having a story mode? Or was there a thirst for a new MH that wasn't held back by Switch hardware? (Which is a funny question now that we know the state of the technical side of this one).
It's not hard to figure out why it's selling:
It's "open world Monster Hunter", which appeals to both veterans and new fans.
It's the first console MH in seven years.
That's about it.
Nah, it's the amazing story mode that we all skip our way through!
How does Wilds compare to World? I've been very hesitant on this game, and the things I've heard from people aren't very promising for what I want out of a Monster Hunter game.
