the continuation started last year
How does the new stuff compare to the previous ones? I haven't read any of it but had heard about what happened and I'm curious if it's managed to maintain the same feel as the original author's run.

As a noob American I am at the mercy of the Deluxe publications. And 13 should be the last one before the transition. So I guess sometime around summer I will find out how it went.

I dont know how I feel yet.

Hard to say exactly as there have still only been a few chapters with the new team so far. Art is a little wonky compared to Miura's art, but then he was an unparalleled genius when it came to art and put tonnes of details into his work, so in that sense I think they are doing an "ok" job. Better than just the series ending with his death anyway.

My main issue so far seems to be related to the pacing, "things" just seem to happen without the right build up, interactions and time to sink in, like someone was going off a cliffnotes or bullet point list "Ok, this needs to happen, right done, next this needs to happen, right done, moving on to the next scene...".

At least I get some sense of the above, having said that lets give it some time to see how they continue and evolve, maybe my sense is wrong, hard to know. I'm at least happy they are continuing the story, even if the quality and tone have obviously taken a bit of a hit.

Thanks to both you and @Dacon for the replies

I remember reading the guy who is taking over it saying he was going to do what was told to him and nothing more. So do you think the "things happening" is maybe a reflection of that? That he's doing the plot points he knows but is cautious about connecting the dots since that would then not be the creator's ideas?

Mori got the whole story from Miura. So him and the staff are working on it exactly as told

Just finished up Deluxe number 10. The "fellowship" is still going strong. The honkey vs Kushan war is still interesting, but curious where it goes over the next few chapters.

Especially with the supernatural schism between the Kushan ruler and griffyth. Seem like a 2.5 faction war.

Finished reading Deluxe Edition 11.

I am sick as fuck of this "White Hawk" bs. Been building it up for so long. They have made Griffith so fucking powerful/smart/lucky that I cannot see him losing to anything or anyone. So now all I want is to see him fall and take his dumbass disciples with him. The Kushan Emperor was pretty cool until they turned him into a Godzilla monster. I am sort of guessing they are going to have Griffith win and then 'unveil' he is evil and all his holy fucks will realize they are the bad guys and a new force will arise as the side of good. With Berserk and his band of women and kids as the tip of the spear

Now I have 12 to read and then 13 gets printed at the end of the month! Curious were things will be by the end of that one.

I think I'll check that out. Don't really wanna get burnt out. I've not really read much manga at all until now.

I'm a pretty recent convert myself. I alternate the style of manga I'm reading to prevent burnout. I started reading this the other day. Gone from dark fantasy battle shit to a story about a guy who's good at climbing. It's really fucking good so far. Some excellent artwork, too.

Everytime I see stuff about Berserk I like it, looks damn good. But for some reason never really watched or read anything. I guess I should.

Where do I start?

Finished Deluxe Volume 12 last night. I think the premise of the the Fantasia arc could be pretty cool. I hope it delivers in Vol 13. Cuz after that it looks like I'll be stuck waiting a while for a more :/

Will start to read Vagabond when I hit that content drought.

I'd love to get my hands on one or two deluxe editions. They look great.

I finished reading Deluxe Volume 13 last night. Talk about getting interesting and leaving you with blue balls! And as far as I can understand Volume 14 isn't coming this year..... FUCK! Fuck, FUCK!

If this takes too long to progress it might make me re-read the whole series in a year or two. Not the end of the world (and actually enjoyable) but still.... FUCK!

I guess my Vagabond journey starts tonight.

Looks like I was wrong Deluxe Volume 14 is slated for release November 21st 2023. I only have one space left on my bookshelf so I am hoping the wrap up the Casca plot. I want some resolution on that front. The rest seems like it will go on forever.

I bought the first deluxe when it came out. I've always enjoyed a giant Berserk book showing up every 4 months since. Going to miss that!

Deluxe Volume 14 is out!!! I just ordered it today. Will probably pause my Vagabond reading (currently on volume 3 and loving!) to see if we get a conclusion to the search for Casca's sanity. Will be pretty disappointed if that but isn't settled in this book.

If Casca ever finds sanity, you should tell all the other women where to find it.

Hey man, that's the only aspect of the story that is likely to get wrapped up in the near term. I'd like more of the Godhand and wtf they actually are or even some insight into what Griffith is actually doing with his new life. But all that and Guts fate seems like it's years away. I told myself that 14 was where I would walk away… but I could go up to 20 for a final arc with conclusions.

I love how you're into Berserk 🥹 I don't think you will be able to walk away even if you saw Casca's conclusion
