Powerful and intense movie with coolest soundtrack.

So I wasn't even going to give this show the time of day because I thought the name of it was dumb. Shallow, I know. I was forced into watching it and wow, what a mistake I would've made by not watching it. It's just fantastic. For my personal list, I'm putting this up there with Breaking Bad. Just finished season 4 so two more to go. Loving every episode.

My main gripe with the entire thing is the modern soundtrack. That irked the shit out of me tbh, but Cillian Murphy was great.

Peaky is pretty good but it's a bit inconsistent for me. Also there is some stuff going on where it's like "oh how will we get out of this jam? Oh, the president of space suddenly at the last minute is a great friend of Tommy. Their great friendship took place off camera so you'd not have known, but the long lead up to this moment is settled because the president of space stepped in."

Yeah, that was something that bothered me too coming out the gate. Now, it seems to work for the show. Or I've just gotten used to it. As far as Cillian goes, I'm trying to think of anything else I've seen him in beside Batman Begins. Didn't realize he had the acting chops that he has.

This bothered me a bit too. The 11th hour save between season 3 and 4 was pretty nonsensical as well as the reason for it. None of that was shown on camera from what I remember. Or even talked about. There are a few instances where stuff like this happens. I just roll with it.

Cillian and the guy who plays his brother Arthur are fuckin great in it. There are some real big acting chops.

But holy fuck is Anya Taylor Joy horrific in the last two seasons

Started watching monarch legacy of monsters on Apple TV+. It started interesting with the different timelines and you wanna know what's up with monarch. But after 4 or so it becomes just moronic with the trip to Alaska or whatever it was. The three kids were acting so fucking dumb it didn't make any sense. The worst is the black it superstar. In minute she screams like she lost her leg and it was only dipped into ice water. The next minute she has halicinations and two minutes later she's running away from a titan like nothing happened. Gtfo. Stopped watching. Only good thing was Kurt Russell. He deserves better.

Now watching attack on titan first season. Loving it so far. I only watched the first season some years ago and am now watching with my gf and she's hooked. excited to see how it's going to continue after season 1

Finished up Growing Pains last night.

I really liked it this time through. I hadnt watched the show since the early 90's...and loved it back then as a kid. But as an adult it was still a lot of fun. Like most shows it started stronger and got a little watered down after a while. Season 1 they are really figuring out the characters and beginning to hone in on what will be formula and from Season 2-4 its money. Ben is still a little kid, Carol has developed as a character and Mike still has his Boner.

Season 5 they introduce Crissy (as a baby) and Ben becomes a teen and starts to mimic the trouble Mike use to get into. Mike starts his acting career and meets Kate (a Fox!). Season 6 Krissy gets dialog....and not as annoying as I remembered. The Finally Season 7 Mike becomes a Teacher and saves Leonardo DiCaprio.

All the while the witty remarks by Alan Thicke land and his chemistry with Maggie remains fabulous and as a result the parents often steal the show. All in all a great series that stays funny while keeping things PG and leaving you some morals.

Just got back from Godzilla Minus One. Took my 7yo son along and he loved it, though he says he liked the action in Godzilla vs Kong a bit better.

I'm a big fan of how they handled Shin Godzilla and this was the same vibe with better special effects. Placing the story in post-WW2 reconstruction was an interesting choice for a movie about smashing stuff… prior to the first city attack I was wondering how it would compare to modern skyscrapers getting blasted but oh joy…. That first atomic breath was epic

Credit to my son, he kept glued to the screen the entire time even though it was subtitled. I think some parts of the dialogue went by too fast so I leaned over a few times to whisper the parts about the planning so he knew more of what was going on

Definitely a top tier flick. Must see.

I just re-watched the old Michael Douglas thriller, "The Game" a couple days ago. Still an excellent watch, even it really stretching the limits of believability.

Last night I just watched "Black Swan". Only 13 years lttp, lol. My *gawd* what a fantastic film. I loved the way in which in presented the yin/yang nature of all things, both visually and thematically. The idea of repressed darkness/shadow side leading to an explosion of that suppression sooner or later was incredibly well done. All things must remain in balance, and when our light/dark elements are not balanced and allowed natural expression it can surely lead to drama in life. Just an amazing movie that I'll surely rewatch in the future.

The Game is awesome! And if you really liked Black Swan, you should check out the anime its based on, Perfect Blue.

Almost done watching Indiana Jones 5. Man, why? :/

Heard people say it's better than 4, but I kinda disagree. 4 has lower lows, but also higher highs. 5 is just very middlig start to end and it relies on nostalgia too much. Plus feminism.

Not sure who this movie is for. Old fans will not like it, new fans won't understand it. Really wondering how that Xbox-exclusive Indiy-game will turn out, ugh.

Crystal Skull is a much better movie than the Disney shit.

Watched Godzilla Minus One last night....... it's not just the best Godzilla movie of all time it's one of the better movies of the year

I've also been watching Project Monarch which is a very slow burn but you can see the titan payoff for upcoming seasons

I wanna see this so bad but my brother-in-law is staying with us and the motherfucker won't read subtitles. I might have to dip out and go watch it myself.

Watched a bit of the classic Disney Arielle prequel with the kids. Vintage Disney, the mother dies inside of minutes lol.

The dudes were jacked, Arielles father was especially buff, all women were good looking as well.

Oh those were the times lol. No shitty DEI, refreshing.

Watched the DC animated universe holiday specials with my sister.

Boy, those Bruce Timm women were something.

Heard some positive word of mouth about Netflix's The Blue Eye Samurai so figured I'd give it a spin and I must admit I'm quite enjoying it.

You have to buy into the daftness. However, the animation work is top-notch, and it's Kill Bill levels of shlocky violence throughout. If you dug things like Afro Samurai you'd probably enjoy it, and is decidedly not PG13 whatsoever when it comes to the subject matter. Worth a punt.

Never played League of Legends, but having enjoyed Blue Eye Samurai I figured I'd give Arcane on Netflix a watch as everyone rates it. The art style is pretty fantastic, some real shades of Viktor Antonov who worked on both Half-Life and Dishonored when it came to the visual design, so I was surprised that he wasn't involved in the project at all. Anyway, I thought it was decent, though it's hard to see where they go with Season 2 (Landing Nov 2024 by all accounts), now they've killed off their main antagonist, and Jinx's The Joker level of insanity sure isn't going to cut it. They also need to add some more dimension to Vi beyond, punchy probable lesbian, as she's well..kind of a boring character honestly. Still, it was a decent lazy Christmas binge that didn't disappoint.

The Creator.

I loved it but I'm grateful I didn't see it in the theatre. Movie is amazing because of the original world created and some top notch cinematography. The pacing fell flat but deep down there is a great story. The ending set peaces are amazing.

Having enjoyed Blue Eye Samurai and Arcane, and still waiting on Amazon to drop the second half of Season 2 of Invincible I figured to find out if there were any other decent animation series out there and someone mentioned Pantheon. Based on the Sci-fi short stories of Ken Liu, it all revolves around the idea of uploaded intelligence. Only a couple of episodes in, but pretty good stuff so far.

Animation is up there with Invincible, and it has a decent voice cast.

Man, can you guys recommend some long-running, feel-good drama show? I'm wasting so much time trying to find something to watch, but everything is shit. Watching "The Lawnmower Man" right now, but that's also not what I want. Something like "Downton Abbey">_>

Saw Oppenheimer. It was OK. Probably a good flick, but the overwhelming hype increased expectations....which it did not live up to at all. It felt like an average biopic (which I generally do not care for).

So now that I have seen that 'Oscar contender' I can honestly say the three best films from 2023 were Godzilla Minus One, The Boy and the Heron and Asteroid City (in that order).

The first episode of Dungeon Meshi (Delicious in Dungeon) dropped today on Netflix.

Fans of the manga won't be disappointed. Studio Trigger has done a fine job adapting the first two chapters into episode 1. Decent animation combined with great voice acting and some gorgeous medieval flavored music (check out the catchy OP Sleepwalking Orchestra by Bump of Chicken). Looking forward to the rest of it. The original manga by Ryoko Kui is one of the all time greatest fantasy stories I've ever had the pleasure of reading.
