Thread: The Last of Us Part I |OT| You know Ellie, we really are The Latest of Us.
Official Thread
After recently getting the Elden Ring platinum trophy and having nothing else to play, I got an itch to replay TLOU. I liked it the first time, though didn't love it. Probably an 8/10 for me. Anyway, it was raining here and I was feeling lazy so I paid a 25% premium to get it from PSN. Ended up paying 125 dollarydoos  Only an hour or so in but am enjoying it enough to not be too regretful. I'm amazed that I played the game to completion less than a decade ago but remember absolutely nothing thus far. It's like playing a totally new TLOU, which is nice I guess.

It also includes Left Behind if you haven't played it yet. Which is new to me. :D

This game probably has my favorite shooting. Everything feels like it has a ton of weight behind it and is very gruesome. The sound is great too. You shoot a guy in the throat and you hear him gurgling on his own blood from across the room. The level of detail behind everything is above and beyond.

My friend came over last night to do her laundry (her W/D both took a shit) so I fired up a new playthrough since she just seen the LToU TV show trailer. I kept intentionally getting killed by clickers just to freak her out. I'm at Bill's now. Game holds up in every way even now.

I love the Uncharted games and have been a huge fan of ND since UC launched back on the PS3. This game, for whatever reason, I... don't enjoy nearly as much. There is nothing wrong with it, from a technical and design standpoint, the game is phenomenal. It still holds up today, as I'm slowly trudging through the game for the first time since summer 2014 or so. Once you get into the groove of how the game is paced, and are in a mood for something quite somber and depressing at times, it's still difficult to put down.

Still, I always need to force myself to get back into it. It's basically the best Walking Dead game ever made that doesn't have the actual license, IMO. I've also gotten the game THREE times already now, with the PS5 version. I never really got too far in the PS3 release due to life getting in the way. I did enjoy it on the PS4 a year later or whenever it came out, but the game just is so hard for me to go back to always. I can't explain it.

I've had the sequel since launch as well, and have yet to open it. I will fix this once I finish the PS5 version to refresh my memory. As @Dr. Farnsgoth stated above, I also remember very little of my play some 7-8 years ago, so it almost feels like a new game. I kind of get some areas mixed up with the original Evil Within, TBH.

Anyway, I'm in Pittsburgh and I still just stop to look at the environments and beautiful views. The acting is still very great for a game, along with the motion capture and subtle use of music... It definitely sets the right mood.

Enjoying my playthrough of it again, albeit very sporadic these days.

I'll probably bite though I don't normally replay games. I just feel like the ps4 og version I played will be better suited on pc, guess we'll see how good the port is

Earlier than I expected, cool. Don't think I'll play it because I really can't replay games, especially not story driven ones, don't have the time for that.

Day fucking 1.

Also I can't believe they priced it £49.99. I mean good on them but wasn't this the full £69.99 a few months ago on launch on PS5?
PS5 players getting the shaft, PC is the way to go for Sony games (and anything else really).

Sony just takes the PS players for granted, the PS players were also the ones that had in many cases already bought the gave twice.

edit: Fuck Sony just realized that as of right now the PS5 version is 40% more expensive here on Brazil compared to the PC version on Steam.

PlayStation never again, congratulations Jim Ryan. I'll be getting rid of my PlayStation and joining the master wait. Gabe won.

The best place to play PlayStation games is hands down the PC and it isn't even close anymore: much cheaper games, free online, vastly superior retro, much bigger library of games, much more hardware option (including portable devices like a Steam Deck), more options for peripherals.

The best and possibly only thing PlayStation has in it's favor is an artificial delay windows that is getting shorter by the minute.

I was a massive PS4 fan, without the console warring. I still think Sony games are the best games in the industry. That been said I wasn't happy with the decisions Sony were making and saw the future when Days Gone and Horizon were announced. I knew they were just testing the waters, to get PS users use to their games being on the PC. Once Kingdom Hearts was confirmed for PC (another favorite) I jumped ship. Two years in best decision I ever made. My game collection will always be mine, new hardware gives every game a free "remaster". Hardware can be expensive if you go mad like me, but it doesn't have to be. Games are super cheap, I picked up favorites for pennies.

My PC is basically a super console. I have animated wallpapers, use Duel Shocks and am heavily invested in the Steam ecosystem (individual game forums rock). If you do make the jump, feel free to join the Dpad Steam group.

I'm glad they priced the PS3 version as they did. Made me decide to not buy it until a big price drop, but I would have preferred to grab it on PC (assuming good port quality) anyway.

I saw it comming too, but now the balance has shifted because there is not a game announced that I feel like it's a must play for me (with the exception of FFXVI that looks like it will be only 6 months). For the past two years I at least had God of War Ragnarok that I wanted to play on day one.

Sony made it really easy for me to go all in on PC, no more paying subscriptions fees, I already have a massive library on PC and my PS games are mostly phisical. I really wanted for them to give me a reason to keep it but it's just not there for me.

I cancelled that and bought else where (see offer below). I also noticed my AIO arriving today had dropped in price and so got a £15 partial refund. Long story short between both savings I also got Resident Evil 4 Remake for effectively £1.76 :D

Is that even a Sony exclusive or just published? Either way not really my type of game lol.
It actually is a Sony game.

So are Death Stranding (just not publisher by them on PC), Helldivers and Guns Up (never played or even saw gameplay of this one lol).

Bound to have happened and I expect Sony was banking on this. However, I do feel sorry for the poor clueless bastards who bought Part 2 as well thinking 'More Ellie & Joel, sign me up'

Looking forward to season 2 ❤️

Season 2 will have an entire episode dedicated to Abby's discovery in the ruins of Seattle the last remaining stock of Beefcake 4000  Then a 40 minute montage of her bulking out to beat Joel Candy ass.

The PC version of The Last of US Part 1 will support 4K resolution, 21:9 and 32:9 aspect ratios, support for AI upscaling with AMD FSR 2.2 and Nvidia DLSS, "and a host of features designed specifically for PC, including adjustable Texture Quality, Shadows, Reflections, Ambient Occlusion, and more."

Mouse and keyboard setups with options for "full control remapping" will be supported—a must for PC games, but not always a given—as will a "wide range" of controllers including the Sony DualSense, which will support "haptic feedback and dynamic triggers" through wired connections. "The Last of Us Part 1 on PC will bring with it the same core gameplay experience of the PS5 version, including its award-winning campaign, the Left Behind DLC chapter, additional modes like Speedrun Mode, Permadeath Mode, and Photo Mode," Naughty Dog said. "Part 1's PC launch will also include The Last of Us Part 1's suite of accessibility features so that players can adjust the experience to suit their needs and preferences."

Those a pretty high requirements, but the game does look very good, so it's kinda understandable. 4k 60fps at Ultra is extremely demanding.

Will this run on a 4090?

Also ANOTHER game requiring 32GB Ram (at decent settings). I think the age of 32 over 16, long foretold is finally here.

Last week, Naughty Dog shared the official PC system requirements for The Last of Us Part I Remake. However, the team has updated them and revealed that the studio responsible for the PC port will be Iron Galaxy.

Below you can find the final PC system requirements for the game. As we can see, Naughty Dog replaced the AMD Radeon RX 5800XT with the RX 5700XT. Furthermore, the team replaced the RX7900 XT with the RX 7900XTX. At the bottom left corner, you can also see the logo for Iron Galaxy (which wasn't present in the previous PC specs).

I'm not really interested in playing the game again, but I'm looking forward to the DF analysis. It looks amazing, really impressive visuals. Curious about the performance.
