- the large majority of "retro games" are borderline unplayable garbage which people overhype due to nostalgia. Anything pre PS2 which isn't a JRPG, shmup, puzzle game, or platformer is guaranteed dog poop
- digital > physical, unless for some odd reason the physical copy can be had cheaper. Crying about not being able to hold a disc in your hands is weird man baby stuff
- Nintendo still stinks, and their fans are brainwashed by nostalgia. I cant believe people pay as much as they do for those games. Cool for kids though I guess. The switch's success baffles me. I preferred the 3ds and wii u
- people who complain about video games being woke are more annoying than the supposed woke elements they're bitching about. I don't even notice that shit, I just wanna play a game after work. I don't wince when I see a brown person or a woman with a bad haircut. I don't care.
- the xbox series s with gamepass is ostensibly the best deal in gaming history. The only people who dislike gamepass are those who don't have it. $300 entry fee with the $15 monthly sub fee for what you get in return is phenomenal and should be industry changing. Just playing random gamepass games with friends all night long has already been some of the best times I've had in gaming thus far. Seriously, they shouldn't be able to keep these things on the shelves

I think the PS1 era has aged terribly because of the awful 3D, but 2D games from that era and most games from SNES/Genesis and NES eras are still fine.
What I dislike are modern games that are made to look "retro." Sorry, by pixel graphics look like crap on a large 4K screen.

I used to think differently when you actually got something in the box other than the disc. I really miss the days when game companies went out of their way to make packaging cool.

Physical games are a burden though. Lots of clutter. Cool packaging... that I store in a bin so it doesn't collect dust

Anyway, it's not about being able to 'hold a disc in your hands', it's about not losing it when the store shuts down.
Good for you but wokeness would completely take over if no one pushed back. Then you would fuckin' notice it!
If you have one that works. The disc drives are notoriously bad. When I bought a used one a few months ago, I had to swap it with another one because it wouldn't read half of my games. I did some research and learned that the quality just wasn't there for the disc drives in the original Xbox. You're just lucky if you get a good one.
I too am tired of looking at anime RPG's but I am also tired of open world side quest driven RPG's.

Regarding this, this is why I'm so anal about games being DRM free. Several times now, I have bought games I already owned on Steam a second time on GOG simply because GOG is DRM free. That gives me the convenience of digital downloads, but the ownership and control of my purchase like physical. Crysis on GOG will always be playable. GOG can go out of business and Russia could nuke all the servers in Poland, and my copy of Crysis will still be playable all the way to my deathbed. I can't say the same thing for any other digital service.Man baby stuff?

Reviews are meaningless, watching some gameplay should tell you everything you need to know about if the game is for you or not.

I was part of the kickstarter for this version. Covid screwed up deliveries so much that people who backed for physical copies got a free Steam copies as well. This was before they fixed it, so it played like garbage. But still.
Among your controversial takes, I find that saying Pre-PS2 is garbage is out by a few years. I think that NES games and gameboy games are the beginning of what I would consider playable games today. While some NES games are just too simple to enjoy, game like the Dragon Quest/Warrior series, the first Zelda and Super Mario 3 can provide hours of enjoyment. Pre-PS2 also includes the gameboy, the SNES, the N64 and the PS1. There's a lot of good games on those platforms, enough that I'd be willing to time travel back and enjoy them as they release.

Personally SNES/Genesis and up is my jam though they are a few NES/Sega Master games that can be fun in short bursts. But most 8 bit games are too basic for my tastes.

In Fallout 1 and 2 you can murder as many children as you want.
Those games exist, but they are definitely not mainstream. Especially visual novels have a ton of that, far more than my simple, innocent heart can take.
