Thread: The "Controversial" Gaming Opinion Thread
Oh here's another one

I don't really care about developer work cycles and "crunch", and I'm not going to pretend like I do either

These people are working dream jobs, some would kill to leave their mark on a title like CyberPunk or Halo Infinite

Like boohoo they get over time. Let me put on a wig, gain 300 lbs, and talk in a silly English accent ... oh wait

similar feeling about crunch and all that, shut the fuck up and do your jobs. be thankful someone is paying you to make video games at a level where you can own a home, car, raise a family, take care of yourself with nice things and save for the future.

Y'know, idk dingus about coding, etc

Yet even I would never expect the types of games which AAA studios pump out today to be made realistically without an ungodly amount of manpower and time put behind the scene. Of course the industry is grueling - just look at the product!

Same goes for Amazon, and all those gigantic Hollywood blockbusters as well. Proof is in the pudding.

almost everything worth pursuing requires you to suffer and sacrifice

They could always make their own games too.

The recent Ninja Gaiden-like game Cyber Shadow was made by one person. That's right. One dude.

The resident evil remake needs another remake because it's archaic as shit. After how much I enjoyed the resident evil 2 remake I decided to try it as it came with PS Plus and I got about 5 minutes in before I said nope no more of this.

I find video game discussion so boring compared to the old days. Now it's all about Ray Tracing, frames per second, resolution, blur effects and other ultra geeky technical information.

Back in my day *shakes fist* people mainly just talked about 8-bit or 16-bit but even that wasn't discussed much post PS1 days. It was just about the games.

Now every thread is about technical aspects. Yawn.

Because the games are fucking stale as shit. Who the fuck cares about another generic ass creed or control? DUDE ANOTHER GENERIC SHOOTBANG GAME LMAO.

Video game forums now cater to an older crowd. An older crowd who doesn't play as much as they used to, and would rather spend their free time bickering online. When you don't play, you debate frame rates, resolutions, and blast processing

Same. This entire topic is driven by Schreier and his overlords. Just a way to subvert and subjugate independent publishers.

Agreed.

Some discussion of the technical stuff for multi-platform titles is fine as long as it doesn't turn into console wars, but beyond that I'm not really interested in the technical aspect of things. I'm much more interested in the discussion of gameplay, etc...

The direct correlation which performance can have on gameplay shouldn't be ignored

Most people just wanna score internet points for their platform of choice however

Seriously. You know what other jobs have overtime? All of them. EVERY JOB. A lot of them much more labor intensive than sitting at a desk fucking around in Unity all day. Shut the fuck up already.

People who play video games are retards

I'm so sick of people repeatedly over-hyping themselves for new games, remasters, remakes, or whatever; then ultimately finding some fatal flaw in the product and bitching about it forever.

Most of ya are over 30 and still fall for the same crap over and over. Just acknowledge everything sucks and move on with your life, and quit worrying so much about alien ass or lack thereof. You only have yourselves to blame, you stooges

Agreed though I'd just phrase it as "gamers are retards."

Heh.

Gamers.

I have zero hype for any new game and more or less I'm just usually surprised by a new game that I didn't care about before i.e. Resident Evil.

I cannot stand this new "gaming culture" of day one patches, DLC and wokeism so my expectations are low for everything.

Add on the fact that all the games I really love never end up getting sequels.

I think the last game to get me excited was DMC5 because it came out of nowhere and I love that series. I haven't been excited for hardly anything before or after that.

Too bad DMCV was shit lmao. Imagine actually enjoying "playing" as V. What a fucking garbage game.

yes i love my hobby that has been raped to death by woke millenial subhumans in their 30s riddled with dlc, retarded politics, and dumbed down gameplay because now your grandmother has to be able to play AAA games.

No lies detected.

This is especially true regarding shooters for me. Luckily there are many great "retro" shooters that I enjoy a lot.

Resident Evil 8 looks kinda ass

Reminds me of how I felt seeing FF7 Remake for the first time

Also looked kinda ass

From the footage I've seen, both games seem to be leaning way too heavily on creating this cinematic experience which absolutely isn't what attracted me to the previous entries prior. They just don't breathe the same

I don't think I fit in with you kids anymore

It's no more cinematic than some of the older games. It's also one

Nier is one of the games that looks kinda cool but it's too weird and creepy looking.

So I decide to check out Drakengard because it's part of the Nier universe that predates Nier to see what it is all about.

Oh look there's a woman that eats babies who eventually gets eaten by super creepy giant babies from another dimension.

And what's up with these moon-people in Nier. And Drakengard has more creepy dancing statue-people.

Dufuq is wrong with this series?

It's just pretentious garbage.

I look at all heavy remasters and remakes with a sense of dread over what they'll fuck up, and play the originals where possible.

Not saying this in the thread, as things are getting heated over there, and they don't need an admin bumbling in, but it kind of looks like the Mass Effect remaster is yet again missing the artistic intent of some scenes.

I feel like making a proper one of these is the hardest job in gaming, and far too many treat it like being a kid in a candy store. In their attempts to bring these up to modern standards, they begin to forget altogether the artistic intent and impact of what was shown on screen back then.

For example, nobody cares if the lighting is more accurate, if it takes a scene that was supposed to be dark and gloomy, and makes it seem like it's taking place under Walmart fluorescents. That's an objective step back from the mood of the original.

It just seems so rare for an extensive remaster or remake to actually get it, and deliver the original experience simply updated for modern visuals.

The opening first chapter / prologue in MGSV is incredibly bad. Horrible pacing, slow ass idiotic crawling, cringe dialogue, repetitive direction.
Playing it, it's like Kojima - while having his own dick in his mouth - is whispering into my ear: "I'm so creative, a real artist. Can you feel how great everything is? A dude on fire! Fire! So cinematic, let's do that three times!"

I deleted that game after finishing the prologue. Couldn't imagine to endure on more second of that pretentious shit.

Whilst the cinematics and overall plot is idiotic, the game is actually a lot of fun. I'd give it another chance if I were you. If it does not grab you in the first few hours of actual gameplay, then sure, uninstall! But to my surprise, I loved playing this game.

A lot of people are saying that the actual gameplay is great. But that writing and cinematography hurts me physically. It's so, so bad. I can't take it.

Pretty sure early MGS games are just as pretentious. Gameplay wise MGS V is best by far followed by MGS 4. Other titles in the series have pretty much no gameplay

My tolerance to bullshit was higher when I was younger I guess. Enjoyed the first three MGS games a lot. MGS4 lost me in the last third, I just couldn't take it anymore.

I marathoned these games for the first five or so years ago. Absolutely hated the first three. I don't think Kojima's trademark humor developed back then. MGS1 felt incredibly stupid, story is written as if by an 8 years old and gameplay is just one awful boss battle after another. I liked 2 and 3 more but wtf is with jungles in Siberia. Was Kojima checking if people are dumb enough not to notice? (They sure were dumb, I googled and never found anybody discussing it at all).
Then somehow MGS4 clicked and I mostly loved it, including non stop cinematics. Ending was satisfying, concluded every hanging plot line while delivering some twists too. It played fine too.
But MGSV is one of the best stealth games out there period. Kojima finally made a proper game. And fans hate it. I don't really understand that.
Here's my hot take on the series.
