There's a long line between hate and lapping up everything corporate pisses out every year.
For the record, I don't think equating apprehension with hate is an intelligent thing to do.
Don't hate this game, I actually enjoyed some of Bloober's output in the past, but there's more than enough reason to
be unwilling to assume this is going to be good. A bunch of industry establishment outlets fellating the game is not
indicative of a quality product. The massive discrepancy between user scores and critic reviews should be enough to prove that.
All I was pointing out was literally the better than expected media reviews, and those willing to condem a game before it's even released. Ultimately any opinion on a game is a subjective one.
I don't think I've ever assumed a game is going to be good before release. At worst I've said I trust a studio based on previous output and if they fuck up that trust, it's a let down, but not the end of the world.
Did anyone really expect the media to dump on this game? Esp with their reaction to the way fans criticized the changes they'd seen?

Hit me with examples from a studio that has no prior hits, where I've pre determined a game is going to be good?
As much as you want to make out I'm a fan boy or a "consumerrr" it's just not backed up by reality.
Literally EVERYONE at some point has assumed that a game is going to be good off press alone. I tricked myself into thinking FFVII Remake was going to be a revelation and you see how that turned out for me. Everyone gets got at some point.

So what is the problem? I judge a game until release, based on the studios previous work. It's just common sense to wait until the finished product is out. I purchase maybe 1 game a month, I replay old favorites. I honestly don't get what your problem is. Are you really that butt hurt I didn't condem a game before release?
Dude, if anything you're the one who is butthurt here. You have a post history of hyper positivity about everything, often dismissing/mocking other people's criticisms and concerns in the process. I'm not the first to point that out and I won't be the last.
That's just factually not true. I can't even think of a product I've been universally positive on. As in not even one game. I critique the positives and negatives through a business lense of all major platform holders as well.
I think what really has you back up is that a game being "woke" isn't a deal breaker for me. I call it out as poor, I add it to my
list of negatives, but more often than not its not a scorched earth type scenario.
i9 14900k, 64gb ram, 4070ti Super
4k, RT on, Ultra settings
I am getting 60-75fps with DLSS performance on. DLSS quality was 55-65fps. It does have the UE micro stutter too. Noticable, but not enough to be a deal breaker.
As for the game itself - so far I think they have done a really good job. I was worried they would not hit the atmosphere of the original, but they did a really good job. The graphics, fog and sound are all really well done.
Same GPU as me, but I have an i5 14600k instead. Glad it seems to run decently. I think I'll buy it, but the Steam key doesn't appear to release until the 8th. How are you playing it early?
Need impressions from people before playing
It is really good. Well worth the money.

I've been watching one of my fav Silent Hill channels go through this, and so far it looks like it's much more faithful than I expected. Much more than the FFVII remake series, or even Capcom's REmakes. The character redesigns are kind of uncanny af, and the acting is actually a little worse in some places than the original.
Combat is a lot more prevalent too, you can't really dodge enemies as well as you could in the original. There's also MUCH less ammo in the game. Dude was picking up 2 and 3 rounds at a time. You also have to be very precise with headshots to take out some enemies quickly.
There's a dodge button. I've found it pretty easy to dodge. Take two swings, dodge, repeat. Just can't get greedy and have to play defense a bit.
Ammo also hasn't been an issue for me. There's only a few rounds in each pickup, but there are a lot of boxes to pickup. I've been mostly meleeing stuff though, so that may be why I have an ammo surplus.
Yes it is a lot more faithful to the original than FF7. I like that they kept the acting very similar too.
I wonder if this sells well, will Silent Hill 3 be on the cards.
3 doesnt need a remake, 1 does. Esp since 3 is a direct sequel to 1.

1 doesn't need a remake.
Any love for the later entries?
I haven't played them all, but I did enjoy Downpour back in the day. I am actually planning a run through of the series. So far 1-3 have been completed within the last few years. Excited for The Room, as I will be playing it for the first time, IIRC it originally was conceived for a different game series entirely.

The Room and Shattered Memories were interesting, other later titles are very mid. I barely remember them. Only that they are janky as hell.
