Anyone ever play Tales of Symphonia 2? That is basically the worst way to do a sequel story - "there is a secret dungeon behind a fake wall in all the old dungeons, and a wholely separate magical system that the literal ultra wizard god who made the world somehow knew nothing about!"

The "dungeons" sound like that. Ugh.

I'm not even mad at this point because between weapons still breaking, zelda nuts and bolts, no graphics upgrade, same everything : I was already hoping for the best but expected the worst.

The last trailer kinda got me excited with ganondorf and that but in the end it's about the gameplay.

But the good news is that the next Zelda will be vastly different, because it has to.

I find this thread so...........emulating

After watching a streamer for a little while, this is 100% DLC pack, all the same old shit is in here, very few QOL changes... fucking Nintendo, it's going to sell like gangbusters and get rave reviews too.

Stupid stables with useless NPCs around them, the random NPCs that are those lame clan baddies. Blood moon gimmick is back, well that one isn't so bad. Even the annoying air prancing wizard things are back... jesus christ.

The open world design is still as barren and dull as it was in the last one, with a few things thrown in to make you keep going.

Watching this makes me think starting the game will give you the feeling of just turning on Breath of the Wild again, instead of the feeling of starting a new Zelda game.

Fused weapons on Link looks so fucking stupid in the dialog scenes with NPCs where they're trying to build tension and drama.

They added a few new gimmicks but god damn, they didn't have to keep the old shit in this one.

It's fucking disgusting asking $70 and $90CND for this, if this were $50-60 CND it'd be ok.

Nintendo is as money crazy as teenage girls are boy crazy. Throwing all sense of tastes and reason to the wind, and just trying to get as much as possible.

As I've said previously, a near perfect game and indisputable successor and standard setter beyond even Ocarina of Time would be combining BotW's vibrant world, setting and towns with Elden Rings sheer variety of gear, weapon and weapon upgrades, skills, magic, enemy variety, legacy dungeons, tombs and catacombs.

I love how you basically make up 10 different words for 'combat' - because that's all that Elden Ring has. Shit game with boring world, zero environmental interaction and no engaging story.

Didnt watch any of the leak streams, but nothing yall are posting has me disappointed. Still hyped. My problem with the Devine Beasts in BoTW wasnt their size it was their annoying piece moving and climbing around them. And then when you get to the end its a lame blight Gannon. So same size 'dungeon' with better layouts and unique bosses and I will be happy.

My only concern is whether the game runs smooth enough on the launch Switch. If that's all good, then I am down for whatever the game has to offer.

I think I'm going to hold off on buying the game until I know if it is actually worth the 6 year wait. They'd better have some sort of new gameplay feature that isn't just a lego build a big tool. I just don't see why they couldn't just look at Link to the Past and make a light world and dark world. Or like Ocarina of Time and do the past and future world. Or even follow Majora's Mask and use the same game world but with completely different gameplay mechanics. Having the same world with a couple of extra shrines and some floating islands isn't really that much more than BOTW.

There's also an underground.

The reason for all your questions and suggestions is that, all those things take a huge effort, Nintendo doesn't fuck with that shit anymore, they do as little as they can get away with for maximum profits.

They won't put this on a sale for a very long ass time, and Nintendo's first party sales always suck ass.

But I'm 100% with you, this isn't really much of a sequel.

Boring is not the word I would use for the Lands Between. A world in the process of horrifically dying? Yeah. BotWs world actually has settlements, people, life and a quest tracker, something Elden Ring lacks.

Even a mundane bandits dagger in Elden Ring has more durability then the Blade of Evils bane in BotW. Even a bandits blade does not have to recharge after a certain amount of use.

Elden Ring actually took inspiration from and improved on certain aspects from BotW especially with the Legacy Dungeons and weapons that don't break. TotK sounds like it improves on the open world aspects as a different focus.

Utterly ridiculous

Elden Ring had really amazing shit to find too, like you could happen upon a cave that gave you an amazing armor set, or a weapon, Zelda just has finding some breakable trash.

Elden Ring had characters that had quests that pretty fun payoffs.

There was a reason to keep looking in Elden Ring, maybe someone would have a spell that was fucking great, and only obtainable in one area.

The payoffs in Elden Ring for exploration were huge. The payoffs in Zelda now are just more junk.

EDIT: Some guy just did a sidequest and got $50 who fucking cares about $50 in Zelda games, you could sell junk and get that shit easily.

Wow.....this game kind of fucking sucks........ aside from looking/feeling/acting like nothing more than a full price DLC I feel like I'm spending more time fucking with broken legos and an unfriendly UI to progress than anything else.

I considered BotW one of the best games ever made, game just flat out IS NOT FUN in the beginning.

How are you already playing this? Are you one of the people who got this sent out to you early??

Lol, so fun to read. BOTW was one of the worst game I ever played. Will be delighted to drink all the salty tears, will save on gatorade after gym time.

People say that it breaks the balance of the game to have reward legendary weapons that don't break but. . .those weapons do not make any difference in the balance. They are just a choice, like any other exploit in the very broken game. No one would have had to use them unless they wanted to have fun, like any other broken mechanic.

There was no reason not to have cool special weapons as rewards.

BOTW is at the top of my worst games of all time. I can't comprehend why people would do a direct sequel with similar mechanics.

I really hope there's a good game after this several hour tutorial that's more like playing Dragon Quest 2 Builders with a Zelda skin.

If you didn't like the last gameplay demo where you saw them combine objects then you most likely will never get through the first few hours of this game as it's nothing but FORCED-LINEAR item building in order to progress and it's really not fun nor creative. They give you all the objects and say spend a shit ton of time trying to make this work but at no point feels fun nor creative just forced tedium.

UI - Forced Tedium
Cooking food - Tedium
Menu - Tedium

Maybe this game becomes fun but I'm almost ready to quit and never play it again if something doesn't change. You have no choice but to figure out how to combine objects it's a complete tutorial that doesn't allow you to do anything else. All of the negatives from BotW still exist and are only exacerbated by this new system forcing you to step further away from the action of the game to pause mid action for something that IS NOT FUN TO DO.

If this game wasn't called Zelda, I'd have already quit

$$$$$$$

If Nintendo had a big budget on this game they must have spent it on hookers and blow.

And then they played banjo nuts and bolts with said hookers

No but seriously I'd love to see what they spent on this game but the switch and switch games selling so well no matter what made them go this route.

Look at pikmin 4 as well, looks barely different than pikmin 3 besides a new color filter lol

I think they probably made a direct sequel for the many people who did like BOTW?

I'd love to see how your videogame pitch would go down with higher ups and investors.

"Remember that multi million selling, critically acclaimed game we made before? Well some people didn't like it, so how about we make a sequel for the people who hated the first one?"

Ok backtracking..... the start of the game is a slow, boring, awful tutorial. It then becomes BotW for all intents and purposes, performance is fine, if you didn't like BotW it's not for you, if you did.... buckle up for a long highly similar ride.

If BotW was a masterpiece consider this a copy of a masterpiece, it's legit and you'll love it. 100+ hour experience for sure.

Of course it's for money.

If you've got a product that sells phenomenally well you don't say "OK let's never do that again". Every single videogame company out there thinks "how can we get even more of that money and how can we do it as efficiently as possible".

The concept of returning customers is really really simple. "Remember that thing you bought and liked before? Here is more of that!"

They're making a sequel to a massively popular game to make more money!!?? You don't fucking say.

The bar I went to at the weekend is going to be selling the same beers next weekend too! Those bastards are only in it for the money!

Is performance actually fine though?

Switch could barely run BOTW at launch. I am skeptical that they can add a load of stuff to the game and increase the size and density of the world and actually have it running well.

I don't know why you posted that rant, because it's just parroting what i said in a condescending way.

The point there genius was it's not good for US that they did the bare minumum regardless if they made this game a sequel to botw or not.

Nice. I love Dragon Quest 2 Builders, it wasn't as good as the first one but it was awesome. (the villain was just badly written I think, he had nothing to do with the source material)

BotW is Wii U game ported to Switch. I recall there were technical deficiencies about BotW engine that were designed for Wii U that didn't work great on Switch. TotK should benefit from being designed for Switch.

I am currently playing Dragon Quest 11 and I think I'm about 2/3rds through the game at the moment. I will probably get close to beating it by the time of TOTKs release.

I played some of Dragon Quest 11, and I thought the game looked really nice. High production values and stuff. I dropped it when I realized I'm never going to lose a fight or ever even come close to being near death. The game's advertised hard mode is basically the regular game gimped so that you do die but not because the difficulty was rebalanced. Sort of like what they did with Link's Awakening remake where no hearts ever appear. No balance whatsoever.

God I'm still pissed over the story especially, and I don't even care about that stuff in gaming.

Knew the game itself would be the same shit, but with that borderline offensive story this time? This is even worse than BOTW...
