Thread: Nintendo Switch 2 sold 3.5 million in 4 days
Sales
I played the shit out of my Switch 2 yesterday. I checked my profile and I have 20+ hours of Mario Kart and 10+ hours of Animal Well on it and I realized that that was one fucking week of ownership. That's insane for me (though it's skewed because I was on vacation during that).

One of these days I'm going to realize how badly I was ripped off and how bad for the industry this thing is :ROFLMAO: (In all seriousness, I can completely accept someone not liking the system and I actually don't mind if you feel that way so don't take me too seriously)

I think Nintendo has proven that no matter the HW, THEY will bring a bunch of great games. And we already know that DK, Metroid and a "holiday" game are coming this year. So it really makes early adoption a no brainer… if you like Nintendo games.

And they don't come to competing platforms. If you want Nintendo games, you buy Nintendo hardware. It's the successful model the industry used to follow until Sony and Microsoft Tarded it up.

I just googled it. I just think it's amazing that Nintendo can release one game at launch and still be this successful.

That one game is a sequel to one of the top 4 selling games of all time(Tetris, Minecraft, GTA5, MK8). 11 years since WiiU release and 8 yrs since Switch 1 released.

The demand was there for Mario Kart sequel. Like there will be demand for GTA6, which will likely drive PS5 sales next year.

Remember when people were like "aw shucks ain't no one gonna buy this thang!"

Crickets now.

I was initially in the 'not buying' category but given a week to play with it. It's basically the Switch on steroids and I mean that in the best way possible.

All of it's creative functionality just got a bit more efficient and improved. I play WIFI only and have never experienced an issue in-game outside of problems with my own ISP.

For all it's backwards compatibility/Online Console/Online play Nintendo is at the top once again.

Maybe at other forums filled with avid Redditors. Most here understood it was going to fly off shelves. I only saw a few butthurt here at Dpad, some were even in buttdevestation mode but even those few knew that it was going to sell

Nintendo fans love the Switch consoles, and I was okay with them continuing this model for years and years maybe as far back as 2023 because I feel like the Switch ecosystem is excellent and there are too many great games to experience. NS2 will continue to be a success

Sometimes I think you are HE1NZ alt troll account. Good cop bad cop deal. HE1NZ is laid back and chill with his trolling, you got the angry boomer Neil energy.

Sure. I thought I was making a post that complimented Nintendo where they can release one game at launch and still sell a bazillion units. But you autists have to turn a positive into a negative because my numbers were off by 2 or "akshualy" Nintendo released more than 1 game. So yeah, get the fuck off my lawn, I'm trying to watch my programs.

Every system now launches with one or two games and then a bunch of BC and cross gen ports/games. Ps6 will have one game and then a bunch of cross gen games that you can buy on PS5 and everyone will be playing Spiderman 2 in full 4K with path tracing and jizzing their pants. Thats video games for ya.

There is a balance between having good games at launch and having good games releasing at a good schedule during the console's lifespan. Each of Nintendo's franchises usually only releases one game for the lifespan of a console, with some franchises releasing more than one game. I think the priority should be at least one big game release every six months.

Nintendo crushes previous record that took a month in mere days and yet people still try to discredit them. I'm glad because Nintendo is the best game developer and they've been on a roll. Watch what happens when Donkey Kong Bananza releases too in roughly a month

I need them to run out completely. I have a 2nd unit to make a profit on!!

I sold my 2nd Switch 2 to my friend. He was getting desperate.

Now I'm looking for another for my nephew birthday or early Xmas present. It's why I've been checking stock. Because I may have tougher time after summer.

Its crazy how well this is doing but i haven't heard much, couldn't care less and no one i know got one or wants one as of now.

Just out the loop I guess. I'll probably get one at one point when there's a game I really want. Maybe that new Rune Factory game.

Yeah I am no expert on this shit, but I really do feel like there will be some period of time when people are getting crazy and spending way too much for these on ebay. I just have to decide how long I'm willing to be without this $540 I shouldn't have spent.

My brother bought Rune Factory. Neither of us have ever played one of these before and really knew nothing about it other than the trailer. He is really loving it so far. After I beat Donkey Kong, we'll swap physical copies since that's what you can do with physical copies haha

I'll be the voice of the crickets. People shouldn't have bought this thing. Mario Kart isn't a great launch title and this version seems to be not as good as the previous Mario Kart game. I want to thank the gaming community for cementing the $80 game standard. Looking ahead to the future, these people are. I see their game plan clearly now, give the game industry enough rope to hang itself a little faster. Oh I wish that was the case but really it's just people not being able to resist Nintendo's newest drug. Good job junkies.

$80 was coming regardless. If it wasn't Nintendo introducing it, it would have been GTA

Gamers have failed so many litmus test, we bought the horse DLC, the loot boxes, the gotcha games, The Last of Us 2, game pass to a certain degree, PS5 witch has almost nothing better than PC, we were always gonna fail the 80 dollar test

Ah yes, full on justification mode now and you know Mario Kart World isn't worth it considering the better Mario Kart was $60. It seems that most people don't really like the open world and it's missing features it should have.

This is how things go though, People are such pushovers and companies know that. Once people buy it, they will justify their purchase.

Ya know, $100 is coming too. Wanna jump the gun on that too? You would justify it anyway.

Yeah I know. The most infuriating part is the YouTubers who made money bitching about it and then used that money to buy it so they could praise it. Nintendo and every other publisher sat back and laughed as their puppets followed the predictable pattern.

Most copies of MK were bought in the bundle ($50). I am enjoying it.

I am sure you are because what else are you going to play? Good luck with the coming joycon drift though. Your $450 tablet didn't even fix that. Nintendo is like 'fuck em, when they break they'll just buy more'. They know that most people didn't want to wait for the return and half ass repair process for the original joycons, they just bought another pair.

My problem is — as it was with the Switch — we are buying handheld tier games at AAA PS5/XsX prices.

In generations past, Nintendo's handheld line was the budget option. Now the handheld-tier pricing is long gone but the handheld-tier hardware and handheld-tier development costs remain.

Nintendo is raking in the cash.

Switch 2 games are Series S level. I don't see how they are any less expensive to develop just because it's a handheld device

It's even worse than that, people are paying MORE for handheld games than PS5 games, atleast for awhile. Other companies would be foolish not to raise their prices after Nintendo fans showed the world that they will pay it.

Developing a Series S game that doesn't need to take advantage of the Series X is obviously going to be cheaper. Of course, development costs are often bloated anyway and fans only care about it when they need to defend the prices their drug dealer is charging. '…but they need that campus with cafes, gyms and swimming pools to develop games'. No, they don't.

Well Nintendo themselves are telling you that Donkey Kong will be a lesser game than Mario Kart World which isn't that great to begin with. Yeah, Nintendo is telling you that DK is worth $10 less than an open world kart racer.

Maybe next time don't goad the crickets.
