The fact that lumping ciri into this shit is hilarious.

Ciri is nowhere close to as trashy as what ND is pushing.
If it was Ciri from the original Witcher stories and novel cycle, then I'd agree. She goes through some horrible shit in the books and doesn't even become close to being a badass until the end of the series. But you just know CDPR is going to girlboss the hell out of her as per their ESG mandates.

What is the origin of this tired ass bear meme? Is it some beastiality joke i missed out on?

"Man or bear" (also called "man vs. bear") is a viral social media debate in which women consider whether they would prefer to be alone in the woods with a man or a bear.[1] The meme originates from a TikTok video by Screenshot HQ posted in April 2024. The prominence of responses choosing the bear has been attributed to the widespread occurrence of violence against women.

Oh.
Im sorry i asked

Christ. This movie even has their own version of Nadine Ross?! I bet you this was one of Cuckmann's mandates for this film. Now I understand why he cast her in this new game.
Honestly, the movie handles the girlboss character far better than Nadine in 4.

She's flat out a villain and irredeemable psycho who is all aggression and martial arts training, but in stand up, slogging brawls gets absolutely bodied by the men due to their being stronger and bigger. There was a bit of the film where I genuinely thought Sully had just beaten her to death, but she'd just been knocked out.

Now that's surprising for a Hollywood film. Never thought they'd show the realistic outcome of a woman getting beat down by a much stronger man.

It will be interesting to see how many people behave like I do. I bought TLOU2 on launch despite hearing some of the negative things about it. I never finished that game and I quit because I got bored of it 1/3 through.

I don't tend to buy a game on launch from a studio whose last game I flat out didn't enjoy. I wonder what impact TLOU2 will have on this game?

For a lot of people, it will be a wait-and-see. A large part will depend on what they show going forward. As far as reveal trailers went, it was not a good showing. It played to all the negativity surrounding Naughty Dog, so they're going to need to release a more comprehensive trailer and some proper gameplay to convince people.

For all the brave face shown online and Druckmanns '10 million units sold' talk from a couple of years back, everyone and their sister knows based on the Sony financials that got leaked during the A/B acquisition trial, coupled with the game going to discount quite soon after launch that it's unlikely TLOU2 even made a profit, so I'm not entirely surprised that the new title isn't TLOU3 (esp after Factions got shitcanned as well), however, this, seems like a double down move and if that leak is anywhere close to being accurate in terms of the meandering bloated plot 'WTF?'.

The whole second season is available on Youtube.

This was pretty funny to watch but I am gonna play devils advocate here and say they probably could've got some more outdoor experienced women to compete here instead of these girls. Kind of a little unfair. Some of these guys clearly had some form of outdoor experience where it seemed like most of the women came from a very city-like lifestyle and had zero experience with even doing something simple like starting a fire.

There is definitely lots of outdoorsy focused women out there who can start a fire from scratch. More than most people here probably think. I think it was just planned this way for entertainment.

The way that that is missing the point anyway is that we haven't just experienced over a decade of developers putting pudgy ugly men in as main characters just because they thought we were being oppressed by good looking male characters all along.

They have, however, purposely put ugly, angular, male-looking female characters in every fucking game they could. So when people try to make the 176th ugly female protagonist attractive, the point isn't that only hot women can be a main character, it's that we all know exactly why she's ugly for the 176th time in a row.

Le Cuckmann once again showing how enamored he is with Pedowood.

For fucks sake, we used to not care about the actors playing the roles of favorite videogame characters unless they wowed us with their performance and we sought them out. Like how gamers became enamored with Steven Ogg after his unhinged performance as Trevor Phillips in GTA 5.

I don't need Cuckmann telling me that the actress he hired is going to WOW us with her performance. Let the game show that when it comes out. All he's done is set her up for ridicule if her performance is awful.

I miss the old days when the voice actors were (for the most part) just people from the studio unless you didn't have anyone who would fit the character. I have hated how the industry has married its self to hollywood. It has bloated budgets with little value in return imo.

The only actors you actually need these days (and i am being generous here) are motion capture performers.

I'm stunned at the complete lack of professionalism and apparently no NDAs regarding getting into publicized fights with potential customers. Obsidian, Bioware, and now Naughty Dog all need better PR and Legal because it seems whatever they have now is not good enough.

Or they don't care at all for potential customers and revenue. I would think shareholders would be infuriated.

Yep! The drive to be more cinematic and to cram in more story led us here.

Regarding mocap actors, how much of their work goes into the animation for the player and NPCs, and how much goes into the cutscenes? Genuinely curious. If a studio was mocapping just for the animations, I imagine it would be a lot cheaper (but maybe I'm making a dumb assumption)

I don't love the Hollywood dick sucking either. Sometimes an actor fits in well, but it mostly just feels like they're paying extra for the ability to advertise a big name. MGS5 was heavily butchered by not just having an unknown voice actor. Then they could have afforded to keep the main character's voice actor the studio for enough time to record more than 17 lines.
