I'm going to be honest, the success Sony saw from TLoU was the Butterfly Effect moment that led us here to the age of '3rd Person Cinematic Action Adventure with Stealth Elements' utter slop. Sony used to take risks, and they used to publish games in diverse generas.

Am I the only person who'd love another Twisted Metal with a 30 million dollar budget?

I dunno if it's true that they dumped $400M into Concord, but if it is, then it's very frustrating that they could have tried 6-8 "medium budget" attempts instead. Why does every game have to be either low budget indie or $150M+?

Sony has a problem where they can't break through 5% of their platform base ever buying their games. Easy to make money when you have 120+ million PS4s out there, not so much when you have less than half of that on PS5, and you have to spend an exponentially higher amount of money on 'industry defining' visuals. Fortnight, Minecraft, COD, and Roblox staying on last gen hardware is beating their asses when their fanbase will eat them alive if they ever attempt to reign in the budgets of these new spectacles.

AFAIK Sony hasn't bragged about sales for any current gen exclusive, and every 3rd party dev that signed an exclusivity deal has been a financial failure. ND is now doing FF15 levels of product placement to justify the dev cost. The PS2/PS3 days are dead, these games cost too much to turn a profit on while limiting your player-base. MS had to learn the hard way that Twitter randos pissing, and moaning about console wars are irrelevant to the bottom line, it will be entertaining watching Sony learn that lesson 5 years later.

Please refrain from asking posters their views on extreme political topics that are not directly related to the game or its creators in gaming threads. While wokeism is a slippery slope, there is already enough wrong with woke games without adding even more disgusting agendas to the discussion.

I think this goes a lot deeper in society the more I think about it. I remember seeing Katy Perry simulate buttfucking her guitarist during a live performance of Waking Up in Vegas. You all may remember an overweight Christina Aguilera coming out on stage with a muscular battletoads-esque chest piece on and a huge, bejeweled matching green cock strapped on to herself. There is not only a desire to be male by a lot of females and those pushing feminism, but a contempt for masculinity as well.

I believe the issue with ND is deeper than blaming it on Sony, ND have been delving into this crap internally themselves, way before any of this garbage became appearant and before Sony starting picking up on it in the other studios.

Here's a downright prophetic video discussing the problems with ND, in 2018, before even the Tlou2 leaks surfaced.

Seriously, not enough time has passed since Concord for a course correction to happen. They may have been hoping it was a one-off failure, and they may roll the dice and see if this can stick. They could at least attempt to improve the protagonist in some way.

Even better would be if they pulled the plug and sent ND to work on something new and we didn't hear anything more from them for another 4 years.

I ain't going to lie. I enjoy the similarities between this and Akira. Cool vibes and a lot can be done with the world.

Would be cool to see the characters hair grow out as they are stranded on the planet but very unlikely they are using the character design this way.

Come on. It's obvious to anyone that Neil Cuckmann wants to create tv and movies more than developing videogames. Why do you think he's so involved with the HBO adaptation of The Last of Us? I think he released this trailer in the hopes of attracting producers to adapt another IP that he created.

Now I've no idea how much Cuckmann earns from the deal he made with HBO for The Last of Us. But if George RR Martin can earn $15 million per season for each of his works that get adapted, I'd look to dedicate myself to the tv and movies instead of dealing with damn dirty gamerz.

If Sony is willing to dump millions into dog shit like Concord and this game was already being made during the last 4 years.

It doesn't inspire confidence in the game. Given Druckman and ND recent history. Maybe they course correct in the final moments but what we have so far is too little to make an informed decision on
