If you watch as many movies as me you might get sick of every couple being interracial now, tho. I did enjoy the movie enough, tho. Just saw another 2023 horror last night called "There's Something Wrong with the Children" and it's two couples who are friends, one a white guy and a black girl, the other a spanish guy and a white girl (second one has the kids). It's just this absurd funhouse mirror version of reality where 50% of everyone is non-white.

I mean you're obviously correct in a wider context, but given the fact Insidious takes place primarily in an American Art College, I'd say the white boy having been accepted into course at it is more unrealistic than the pretentious black girl, and their relationship makes sense given their room mix up causing them to intimately cohabitate, then share trauma.

I mean as much as I role my eyes at the overwhelming pro race mixing propaganda in media today, I uses to do the same when you'd have sci fi settings like the matrix movies that portrayed strict racial segregation in everyone's dating habits too.

There's a comfortable middle ground between no mixed couples and nothing but, and Insidious is one of the few that fits an actual realistic way such a statistically unusual relationship would form.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre lite basically, just like EZ had told me

I thought it was entertaining, but it wasn't frightening at all. The scenery was impressive, the villains were all great, wasn't expecting to see Dwight Schrute there lol. The actors were great, the writing was great, overall pretty fun movie to watch and I enjoyed it. If he could make his movies terrifying then Rob Zombie might have potential to be one of the best. But idk how anyone is going to accomplish that if the characters all have over the top Southern accents and talk as often as they do. I'll try out another one of his films hopefully soon or in the next few months

Watched Pearl last night

What a friggin trip

Loved the Technicolor

Easily Ti West's most ambitious film ive seen yet. Never thought id see something so choreographed from the dude who directed The Roost. First discovered him via finding that on DVD at a flea market years ago

Still wanna watch In a Valley of Violence

Dude gets it

Turned on the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre last night with the intention of watching up to the point where they go in the house and ended up watching the entire film. It's such a masterpiece that Tobe Hooper made: terrifying, creepy, and interesting all at once.

Fun way to start the festivities, these shorts were not particularly scary, but they were entertaining

Overall = 6.5/10
Fright Factor = 0/100

Wish it were a scarier watch, but for such short stories they're all fairly well shot. Pumpkin Head is about as generic as can be that's my main complaint about this movie. The rest is serviceable, but there's nothing we haven't seen before in this one. Still, I liked it and would recommend just understand that these shorts are all familiar tropes being retold. In all there's roughly six shorts, maybe seven

Some will probably think it's lame, and in some ways I can see it. But I've seen way worse. It's worth checking out. I'm a fan of the movies that take place on Halloween night, personally

The beginning and setup to Grave Encounters 2 is fun, and this is a highly entertaining movie. Not as chilling as the first one, but this is a decent sequel. Liked all the attention to detail that went into this, characters were high energy college students. It's kind of wacky compared to its predecessor, which was way much more 'grounded' in what it was trying to deliver in comparison to Grave Encounters 2

I saw that on Rotten Tomatoes, the critics and audience were extremely harsh with their ratings. Although I think it deserves credit, and is worth a watch especially if you enjoyed the first one… I can't help but feel slightly dissatisfied with the second half of the film. They built everything up so much in the first part, it was 100% pointed in the right direction and poised to be something great but some things were rushed and the events that made up the story in this sequel fell kind of flat. There was a lot of intense action, thrills, and many deaths taking place once things got going but this time around the hospital was not nearly as haunting despite all that happened in this sequel. What I mean to say is that this sequel was not as clever in its use of characters. They should have taken more time and effort with the hospital scenes. Still a good movie, but the outcome wasn't as great as it could have been, and I felt this one had a lot of potential but didn't live up to it, unfortunately

Overall rating = 7/10
Fright Factor = 3/100

It's weird, because there was a lot of scary things taking place but the actors or director, or maybe both didn't sell it very well. The characters were a bit TOO hysterical at the end and it killed the tension and any momentum there might have been for being scared. Things were a bit too over the top in this movie and scenes that were meant to scare were only exciting, thrilling. Not very scary at all

Very little went into the new characters' excursion once they got to their destination. They pretty much flipped out, were killed off one by one very quickly. Any tension built up was killed off as quickly as the characters. The main plot wasn't well thought out. There were two little twists in this movie, one was interesting although again it wasn't carried out properly imo. The second one was kind of lame though. Yeah, Grave Encounters 2 starts off strong but the best part about the movie is the enthusiasm and energy behind the main characters in the first 30-45 minutes of it all. Entertaining and kind of funny at the start, a bit sloppy and something of a mixed bag in the second half of the movie. Development was brief when it counted the most, and conclusions were abrupt. Story could have been way better and made use of these college kids in interesting ways but they were killed off at a fast pace in succession

Curious what would you give Jaws? Alien, the Thing would be 10/10 90/100 at least. Jaws 10/10, 100/100.

Saw X

It was... ok. Honestly a bit strange. They spent so long setting up the scam that the trailer revealed instantly. The ending was just strange, almost like the film was portraying Jigsaw as some kind of hero/Jesus. The traps all taking place in the same room and honeslty the new villan got let off lightly... they obviously want her around.

I liked Hoffmans one line voice cameo. I think over all I just want the story of Dr Gordan and Hoffman to continue. If all you want is more Jigsaw and Amanda you may come away more positive than I did.

3 "filler" films in a row. Just continue the fucking story lol.

3 stars out of 5.

This movie is a thriller with almost zero scares to offer. Highly disturbing film and well crafted. It's easy to bring about disgust, much harder is it to bring about fear… Eden Lake is twisted, but not scary. If you want to watch a gruesome movie, this one fits the bill. It's actually better than the score I gave it, but when a movie is being labeled as 'Horror' then I expect the full extent of the definition to be met. Not the best movie to watch around Halloween imo but it is a great Thriller movie with a lot of gore

An unidentifiable corpse is sent to the morgue for an autopsy and unimaginable events begin to take place soon after the arrival

This is one of the more adept horrors I've watched in a while. Covers all areas and is an excellent movie. If you haven't watched it yet then I would highly recommend considering giving it a go. Don't read a summary, just go in blind

Ten short stories in all. An anthology horror film about a town that goes batshit crazy each year on Halloween. Enjoyed the last two shorts, those two would be my favorites and they had me laughing a few times even, some very funny moments here and there between those final two

Very festive, made completely for fun, and in the spirit of Halloween. Like half or more of the shorts involved Trick or Treating in each's respective story at some point. Tales of Halloween doesn't take itself very seriously, so there's some fun to be had if you know what you're getting yourself into. The tropes are nothing new

Put it on if you'd like something to watch but don't necessarily care to invest your full attention to. It's big on the comedy side of things so it can be good for a laugh periodically

Wouldn't call it easy to get a whole lot out of just 7-9 minute shorts but these do alright for themselves. A lot of gore, murder, death and it's all about wicked events taking place on Halloween night. Much of Tales of Halloween is intentionally corny, campy, but that's what makes a lot of those moments so funny half the time

Thought it was good. Solid horror film. The only thing holding The Innkeepers back is its lack of an ambitious narrative

Overall Rating = 7.25/10
Fright Factor = 40/100

Liked the characters, some strong eerie tension throughout the movie. Definitely had its moments but with such a tiny amount given about the history of the incident and haunting there's nothing really to look back fondly on. It boils down to these two down-to-earth hotel workers, an amateur clairvoyant, and a very strange man who might have been possessed? Not sure, the story doesn't quite add up and the details given within its narrative don't allow for anyone to piece anything together. It's supernatural phenomena exists, no actually it doesn't exist I was just pretending, no wait oh shit it really does exist! -The Movie

But besides that, it was at least worth the watch. A singular watch, I don't see any reason to go for another round The Innkeepers at any point in the future, unless I missed something important relative to the plot

There should really be a sequel to The Innkeepers at some point because the production was solid, yet virtually nothing was explained. We know it's real, the hauntings. We now know that something terrifying and abominable took place here one honeymoon and that the hotel possesses grave danger to anyone meddling about its secrets. But sadly, the hotel will be turned into a parking lot according to Claire… so I suppose it's a one and done. There wasn't enough to be fully satisfied with The Innkeepers but it was a nice time while it lasted

Art the Clown is a good horror movie baddie in a shitty film. Zero tension, no established rules (there are some serious "wtf just happened?" moments late in the movie), and worst of all, not scary in the least.

Its also 2+ fucking hours long. The end of the movie just keeps going and going for no real reason.

Unless you are an edgy 14 year old who wants to see the schlockiest (not in a fun way) gore fest imaginable, this is a hard pass.

Watched about twenty minutes of Terrifier 2 but of the portion I did see, it was great. Slashers and killer thrillers are never scary. Best they can do is create morbid characters and take the gore and killings to the next level. I've never felt scared from watching something like Friday the 13th or Nightmare on Elm Street

If I only liked the scary horror movies I wouldn't be much of a horror fan

I'm not saying all slashers have to be actually scary but I just found this to be tiresome. There is nothing new or interesting here, just more gore. If you just want to see more latex torsos and heads being bludgeoned, cut open, and blown up this movie will more than oblige you.

I love how Flanagan jumped right to it and wastes no time at all with any set up. Intrigue is there from the start. The characters are good. The story is good. Setting is suitable. Oculus does alright for itself, and I'd probably recommend watching this movie with a friend or more purely for the sake of getting more out of it after the fact

For its run time I wish there had been more chilling scenes, especially for something that could be classified as a 'haunt' film, depending on who you ask…

Writing was actually great at some points. The twists are strong enough to keep one wondering well after the fist time watching. Not so certain about it being worthy for a second watch, but the story itself certainly calls for a second watch even if the movie overall could have been better. I still am not sure which side to believe, despite all the information presented

It's arguable as to whether or not a sequel is order. Would I go to see it in theaters? Probably not. But it would be nice to see what's next at some point. I'm sure a lot of fans of this film still have their doubts

@teezzy

The way it was shot and presented was exceptional. But this is why I can never praise it as highly as some

The Innkeepers themselves are the true stars of the movie. But in horror, I expect the enemy / entity / evil to at least steal some segment of the show. Sadly, that was not the case. I loved the eerie moments throughout but the haunting spirit or ghost herself was a letdown

I do sort of enjoy how Ti West kept it simple but I wanted more out of the story. You can't really ask anything more from the Innkeepers themselves, those two actors knocked it out of the park. But I was craving more information on what happened to the young woman on her honeymoon stay at the hotel. We were left completely in the dark

The motto is "every room has a secret" which is fitting because we lost a very strong protagonist without any clue as to what caused her death. The history behind the haunting is a mystery, completely. I call it bad form when writers fail to give their audience anything to go off of. It's fine to let things linger into unknown territory, but in this instance the unknown is too broad

Valid point and interesting perspective

I think youd be fascinated to see how much Ti West grows as a filmmaker with X and Pearl

Im a bit of a fanboy of his at this point and even i was stunned. Be sure to watch X first

Not even worth the time. Yet somehow I still managed to watch from start to finish. If you wanted to put something on as background noise to kill the silence for a couple hours, this might be worth considering if you can get past the awful cringe-inducing lines. Bottom line, this movie sucks a gargantuan cock

I like older films a lot when it comes to this genre. This is a beautiful film. Loved the way it opened too with the five minute campfire ghost story that was told right before midnight. Antonio Bay was excellent, loved the radio host chick, most of the characters were pretty good although I don't know what Jamie Lee Curtis did for the film, thought she was unremarkable here tbh but whatever. First time seeing The Fog and it wasn't as great as others have said over the years but it was alright

I'm a sucker for intentionally extra corny lines that are thrown into these kind of movies. Horror Hotel: The Movie is nonstop comedy, and easily one of the funniest movies I've seen in past years. If you want a good laugh this is the one. Four or five different stories here all taking place within the same hotel
