I still don't have any retainers but I will get one now. Yeah I also forgot about the tomestones, I can get gear from there instead of wasting inventory space on my chocobo storing gear

I will go look up how to start gathering and crafting and do that while waiting in queues. I need to level up my rank in the company too, I never bothered

yeah, the 2 free retainers each has 175 storage space, so you can put a lot of stuff in there. and you can even assign them to go out adventuring/gathering/crafting and bring back loot for you. combine that with your chocobo saddlebag and everything else, you can hold a lot of stuff. thou once you get more gears for other jobs and once you start crafting/gathering, those space will be gone faster than a DRG in a Titan fight.

as for raising your GC rank, keep in mind that the last 2 ranks of the Grand Company, you won't be able to keep advancing until you train and lead a NPC squadron of your own. but the rank at the "limit" before that is already more than enough for most of the stuff you need out of the GC. the NPC squadron thing is very much optional and is actually somewhat fun. just like everything else in MMOs, take your time and do a little at a time. don't try to rush and get everything all at once.

and I would also want to throw in another thing to burn your time on. beast tribe quests. at some point you'll be able to start doing quests for the major beast tribes and build up reputation with them. they give you daily quests that's usually pretty easy and gives decent xp. and once you maxed out your relationship/reputation with them, you'll be able to purchase some awesome minions, gears and mounts from them. the ARR ones (total 5 tribes) are the slowest ones to raise, each of the expansions will add 3 more tribes. most of the tribes would require you to do regular quests like killing something or explore somewhere, but there would also be some tribes who have quests that require you to do crafting/gathering, so keep that in mind. each expansion (that includes ARR) all have 1 tribe that's crafting/gathering only quests. Shadowbringer has 2 thou, I think.

BLM is 80 now and I still haven't finished Shadowbringers

Not sure what to do next. Level my other jobs or start professions

kinda up to you. if you want to "get the most out of things", can always get your DRK up first to where your MSQ level is right now and get the xp from advancing the story. if you just want to enjoy the story first and take it all in, then keep playing to finish Shadowbringers before going to level up your DRK. really up to you. also, that's pretty darn fast getting into Shadowbringers already.

I'll finish the story of course. Although I like the idea of taking advantage of the MSQs XP 🤔

I'm an MMO freak bro, once I'm in, nothing can pull me out 🤣

haha, cool. just remember that before clicking those green "completed" quest triggers, you can usually switch to another job to get the xp from it as long as the level requirement matches. hell, even those times when they has you to complete a quest after a fight or some cut scene, you can still click no and switch job to get the quest completion thing again to get the xp.

btw, how far are you into Shadowbringers now? how you like the expansions and story so far? and which data center you're on? I'm over on Ultros in Primal data center.

Ohhhh thats nice info! I just finished Mt. Gulg and now I have another dungeon immediately after it but can't recall the name

The story is surprisingly good for an MMO + Post-AAR was such a drag but glad I managed to go through it

Once I stepped in HW, everything kept going to another level! Shadowbringers is my favourite of them all

ah. you still have plenty of Shadowbringers to enjoy then. including a few truly awesome boss fights and some real emotional moments.

Great! I still need to go and find those quests that unlocks all the raids

I only got ARR raids for now >_>

So I went and unlocked GNB. What a damn fun tank! Need to get used to all those skills although I figured out the rotation and all that

Don't know how many more skills I'm unlocking and how many more shortcuts I need to make 😩

I think I read somewhere that GNB is basically 3 DPS stacked upon each other wearing a trench coat 🤣 so what about your DRK? and I would also love to know how you like playing BLM in some of the harder contend so far?

That's so damn accurate 😂 My DRK is fine, I like it. But thought of giving GNB a try since I plan on levelling all jobs

Very good question. I like BLM a lot but the more end-game I go, the more movement is applied. BLM is a turret so I either TripleCast while doing movement mechanics or I simply fly to one of the party members

It's frustrating though not going to lie. Because I interrupt my rotation and then get hit because FFXIV is weird. I'm in a safe spot right before the enemy executes their hit yet I still get hit

@Robot Carnival save me mate. I want to make gil. I had 1m now roughly 200k thanks to levelling other jobs and professions :(

honestly I don't actively go out to make gil all that much. I kinda just do my daily stuff and get some gil and sell whatever junk I get. the guys at Work To Game (pretty decent small channel for XIV) had each put up a gil making guide not long ago and I assume they're both pretty useful. watch through them and see what would fit your play style. what are you looking to get for your gil thou? housing? more minions/mounts? gardening and retainer adventures are 2 pretty good way to make some gil without you doing too much. thou of course there would still be restrictions on them too. a fun way is to do some treasure maps. can do those with your FC mates if they have a little free time too. hell, you can even solo the low level ones yourself. I also use my Grand Company seal to get stuff from the GC and sell on the market board. just remember that anything that involves market board kinda depend on the economy on your server.

edit: throw in a few more videos on gil making since the 2 above seems very similar after watching them.

also, in regards to BLM in end game. yeah it can be kinda hard unless you're more familiar with the fight you're doing so you know when you can be stationary and do some big DPS and when you'll need to move and where etc. I have both SMN and BLM maxed and I definitly use SMN way more than BLM due to that issue. thou like I mentioned before, if done right, BLM's DPS is hard to top.

Have i told you all (think already did) how much i love Dancer? So much freedom of movement without risking damage, competent damage dealing. I can live with it's gambling for procs.

Only job i see me dropping it for might be GNB, for a tank it i felt it quite fun. I'm just scared of tankbusters and being the reason for wiping 🤣🤣🤣🤣

haha, just start from tanking dungeons and let people know you're new to tanking. eventually you'll go into trials then raids. hell, alliance raids would probably be even better since you would have 2 other tanks doing the main tanking and you don't need to worry too much if you're off tanking.

Zepla also just uploaded a gil making guide that doesn't really involve crafting and gathering. nothing too out of the usual but still good to know some of the stuff.

good in depth look into the 2 games written by Jesse Cox. pretty fair and level headed look into both sides. give it a watch if you're interested.

what you leveling right now? what level? try doing some levequest or FATEs. even beast tribe quests give pretty good xp so you can work on those while waiting for roulette.
Thats the problem, there's no waiting  .. I switch up between DRK and AST and you know how instant the queues are ;p

lol in that case, just take it slow. only go do some FATEs, beast tribe quests and what not. don't start any roulettes for a little. kinda "go for a walk" instead. not the best way to level up but it won't hurt.

I went and got the anima weapon yesterday and collected some rubbish aether currents to fly in a couple of locations

That was productive. I almost got all locations unlocked

man, XIV is really popping off right now with all the WOW streamers moving over. and even Asmongold, arguably the biggest streamer on WOW, is starting to play it too. thou I do wish folks would leave him a lone and let him play on his own pace. so many people just following him around crowing up the area and maybe clowning him is annoying to see. even thou I'm not a big fan of him, I do have to hand it to him on being able to do a 10 hour long stream, deal with people clowning him in game, and still engaging with viewers and keeping them interested. I mean, at it's peak, he had like 160k viewer or something yesterday, that's pretty crazy for sure. hopefully people who watched him would actually be interested in the game afterwards.

I feel that even thou WOW community has a "toxic" reputation, it's more due to the game's core design. and once they move to XIV and play through it, they probably won't be so bad as some folks think. and worst comes to worst, can always report and ban them, since that would be much easier in XIV.

I bough the story boost, got the patch 3.4 and it reminded me of the 2.1 - 2.55 grind, cba with that just want to enjoy the new content.

Whats Bozja?

Any kind of boost in an MMO game is a big no. Unless you got a new account and know already everything

Bozjan Southern Front is a new content added in patch 5.35 if I'm not mistaken. You go in a battlefield with other players farming skirmishes (a.k.a Fates) and Critical Engagements. You also get your Shadowbringers relic weapon quest from there. Best content to level from 71 to 80 on your alt jobs

I won't tell you to not do story boost, since everyone should play the way they like. thou I do have to tell you that some of the stuff in later games really hit different if you don't know some of the earlier stories. with the way they had adjusted things, it really isn't that much of a grind to go through the stories. but if you had already bought it, might as well I guess. but I do suggest you to at least look up the story cut scenes or a video summary of the stories up to the point you skipped.

Is it weird that I like Bozja grind? The XP there is just so damn good!

I really need to do more Bozja. probably going to run my 74 WAR in there to max I suppose. speaking of leveling, had you done any of the deep dungeons yet? Palace Of The Dead/Heaven On High? those are pretty good for leveling too if you can get a group of friends together. can also get some cool loots from there too. thou you'll need to learn a little on how it all works thou.

Do not be a omni-crafter/gatherer unless you want to pay for a shit ton of retainers. My word of advice to new players.

to be fair, that kinda only last until you maxed all of them. once you maxed them all, you can free up a lot of space. unless you plan on doing a lot of crafting for gil that is. that's a different matter. also, make sure to desynth any dungeon gear u get but don't need so you have your desynth level up.

the new benchmark for Endwalker had dropped. some spoilers for Shadowbringers and stuff from before of course. but this looks so good.

new benchmark for Endwalker is out now. give it a try if you're interested. also comes with character creation that has bunny boy now for those who want to make one first. suppose to be able to port your creation over to the game come Nov after Endwalker released.

Was thinking about it but I decided not to. People with high-end PCs shouldn't really bother in my opinion

Also a promotional site for Endwalker is up :D

yeah. so Reapers are just farmers who are very upset and learned to invoke the creatures from the dark. that's kinda a fun way to go about their origin :D
