Weeaboo special:

Good job on the OT @HE1NZ

Preloaded and ready to go on Steam. Hope the game is not too vram hungry like Monster Hunter was I want to push all the settings up on my 5080. The game looks incredible maxed out

I need to free some space for it.

• "One of the largest Pro upgrades we've seen so far."

• 60 FPS "performance mode" retains the RTGI seen in the "quality" and "balanced" modes on the base consoles.

• "Image quality on Pro [in performance mode] isn't really improved over the base machine. Both suffer from considerable pixel crawl, even at rest."

• "Internal resolution in performance mode on both consoles tended to hover around 1080p."

• "The Pro version of the game doesn't carry the hallmarks of PSSR upscaling… the image has artificating that is more inline with analytical [upscaling] techniques than machine-learning based ones." Suspects TAAU is being used rather than PSSR.

• "Draw distances, shadow resolution, and other common tweakables seem to be about the same on both consoles."

• "Framerates seem to hover around 60 FPS." Occasional slight drops are seen scattered throughout, but generally performance is solid in performance mode. "Sometimes moving the camera rapidly can cause a slight framerate drop [due to the DRS system needing to catch up.]"

• All cutscenes are capped at 30 FPS, as is the "Hideout." This applies to all modes.

• "[In the 30 FPS quality mode] the effectiveness of the [ray traced] reflections is a bit limited. There isn't much detail in the reflections, revealing a fairly crude approximation of the world in the BVH… Foliage doesn't animate in the reflections as well… the RT reflections suffer from a lot of pop-in. It can be quite distracting… skinned objects are represented only in screen space."

• "Aside from the RT reflections, other visual settings appear similar [between quality modes on both consoles.] At times, there are some pretty substantial improvements from the added specular detail on Pro from the additional ray tracing."

• "Image quality is generally comparable across both machines [in quality mode.] Neither is perfect, though both offer a less artifact-ridden image than their performance mode counterparts. Resolution is similar across the two machines, though there is a slight Pro advantage [usually by about ~100p.]"

• "Expect a locked 30 FPS in most circumstances [in quality mode.] The game can drop a single frame in some circumstances, but it's generally a consistent performer."

• Hair strands are absent in performance mode during gameplay, but appear during cutscenes. They appear during gameplay in both balanced and quality modes.

• "Shadow map resolution is somewhere between the quality and performance modes [in balanced mode.]"

• Balanced mode holds to its 40 FPS target well.

Wow... only 80 FPS maxed out with 4K DLSS Performance on the best GPU available? That's rough.

This game is going to bring my 5080 to its knees. It does have the visuals to justify it though from the footage I have seen

Interesting, I thought the game would be CPU bound, utilization seems low in that video at like 25%. Granted, that figure is often misleading and doesn't tell the whole story. Might still be the CPU limiting it.

My old 8700k was at like 50% in games and was totally holding them back, so who knows.

Got a friend who's been waiting for this game, he might stream most of it so maybe I'll tune in a few times here and there. This game reminds me of Beverly Hills Ninja

Some not so great faces, animations and dialogues. But overall really good visuals, I like the vegetation a lot, hair looks a bit floaty but good, lighting looks nice maxed. A lot of moving parts, well made.

PS5 Pro version looking good. Not using PSSR, which was the correct decision. Curious how the PC scales, visual wise.

No major bugs, stable performance, well tuned visuals on consoles. They used the extra dev time well.

This game is giving me Assassin' Creed Unity vibes. Finally feels like we are in the next generation with these visuals . With the 5080/9800x3d I'm getting about 50-60 fps at native 4K with Ultra High preset

Man once the game opens up after the prologue in the daylight the game looks amazing. The RTGI adds so much to the game. Again, it feels like an honest step up from the previous AC. Ubi delaying the game was definitely the right call

Anyone trying out immersive mode? :)

Looking great with the density and draw distance, I'm impressed!

But the pink outlines on distant structures in front of the blue sky, urgh turn off that post processing shit CA it's the first thing everyone should do when launching a game.

Updated drivers, freed some SSD space and now installing.

I hope prologue isn't 5 hours long. Just want to roam a bit and benchmark.

Having watched Asmon's play through, it seems quite a lengthy introduction, probably looking at 2-3 hours?

A lot of YouTubers were recommending playing on hard too, seems the AI are a bit more cunning and realistic which amps up the tension somewhat.

Edit: oh, and nice OT dude!

That's so much better. Looking really good and seeing all the details, draw distance, density, I'm pretty sure that it is very CPU limited at a certain point.

I'm sure Alex from DF is already doing some extensive testing.

CPU utilization is very low surprisingly. Like around 20% on the 9800x3d but I haven't been to the towns yet. GPU at 99%

When Naoe
Defends Iga against her father wishes
The surfer rock music took me by surprise lol

CPU utilization isn't an accurate way to measure if a game is CPU bound. I had games running poorly because of my old CPU while it was at well under 50%.

What's the general story here btw? I've only seen gameplay so far. And how do you like the story & narrative so far?
