Exactly. She's female in literally everything, it's only the English sub/dub that uses "they" and then some European translations that are based on the English one following that one. Makes my blood boild when activists say "she doesn't have gendered pronouns in Japanese either" - yeah, NOBODY does, because Japanese doesn't have gendered pronouns (thanks god).
The 2 in the code list could mean literally anything. A nonbinary character simply makes no sense to XB3's plot, and if had any significance, Takahashi Tetsuya would SHOW us why it's important, but Juniper never has any "LOOK IM NONBINARY AND THIS IS WHY!" scene. The 2 might as well mean that she's the only cat girl with those hanging ears. For all that's worth, we don't know exactly, but there certainly are no active hints to her being nonbinary, and again, it wouldn't make sense plotwise. These are all 10-20 year olds that have no idea about what sex or gender means, nor love and sexual attraction.

For reference, if any of you weebs care, the Japanese "性別不明" simply means "gender unknown" and does not necessarily imply non-binary (it's been in use long before anyone know what the fuck a "non-binary" was supposed to be).

And since you bring up the "seimetsu fumei", I'm 100% convinced that Juniper is a girl, but taking a classic anime-trope role, that of the "is he/she really a boy/girl?" trope. MonolithSoft are a company of traditional weebs, it's infinitely more likely they'd apply such trope rather than insert some nonbinary character for no reason.

Still been plugging away at this and have been really enjoying it. About 15 hours in now.
Did anyone else experience memory leaks? I've never seen this happen on a Switch game before, but I've been messing around in this area in Chapter 3 and the performance was completely shitting the bed. Like 15 fps or so. I thought it was just the area, but after closing the game and rebooting it on a whim, the performance issues completely disappeared.

Yeah, that's normal especially after a couple of hours playing. Xenoblade 1&2 had the same issue, albeit not as frequent.
It certainly won't affect the experience though, unless if you're using emulation where everything chugs fast, even 15 min in.

Alright, it's been over three months since XC3 release date so I imagine most players are at least close to halfway through or further. How does this game stack up against its predecessors and does is trump the previous XC games before it in any categories like story, characters, battle, etc. (?)

Probably the overall best. story though don't pay it too much attention it's just gonna be crap it should have ended with the first one tbh.
x has the best gameplay Though it doesn't have very good music (they chose a frickin K-pop artist to do the soundtrack!) It does have a great overworld that is enormous with very little downtime when it comes to loading. it's story feels rather hollow though.
two is the worst out of all of them. You don't like anime your not gonna like 2 at all it's story and gameplay are way too anime and feels really rushed. 2 feels like they cut one to many corners. the game Takes too long to get fun. I was really disappointed with this entry personally some other people like it quite a bit though.
the first one I like quite a bit. it's soundtrack is great the story is good but not the best especially towards the end it Feels kinda hamfisted together (not gonna spoil it it's cool) the world is pretty big as Well and the music is great. my only gripe with it was the battle system is cumbersome due to you using the dpad and expected to use the control stick at the same time But the system is still fun though. You might want the switch version Or play it on dolphin emulator so you can fix that problem.

What I know for fact, though, now: Any Xenoblade is vastly better than Persona 5 Royal. What a massively overhyped game that is. Fuck those 95% Metacritic, most lol overrated game in existence. I played the game for some hours now and it's fine. But it looks and feels old and it's just more Persona 4, almost like a remake. I will fight anyone who claims THAT to be the best jrpg.
