Thread: Work rants |OT|
Official Thread
I have a lot of things to do at work. I have an amazing team I've hired 40 out 45 people that work for me. My upper management does not communicate. It's government though most above me are directors or c levels. Most will be gone when new governor comes in than I got 8 years of hell or opportunities. It's been hell so maybe. It will get better after election. A lot of my team has moved on to other teams to grow more. I'm always pushing growth. I feel like if they move on to other teams I'll have great connections there. It's crazy as it's an agency of about 400 and about 75-80 have worked for me at some point. Maybe I'm the deep state?

Just finished building out our UK site and I learned tons. I got to utilize lots of tested workflows from years ago which came in clutch. I couldn't have imagined doing this from scratch.

I just had my review and boss says he's putting me up for promotion again. Not a guarantee but God willing it will be in my future.

Over the next few months I'll be trying to get close with our Network team as we have some major network redesigns coming up and I hope to learn some stuff to fully optimize my environment. Get that shit zooming.

My current job is mostly good so far. Just one area of contention so far and that is my supervisor. She is hard of hearing so it is hard to talk to her often. I could work with that, but what really bothers me about her is her personality. She gets offended easily and retaliates if she can. The other week she pulled me into a one-on-one meeting because she felt like I wasn't talking to her enough, whatever that meant. She knows that at this point in time I'm still new so I don't have the full computer access yet to actually work at my work. So I don't fucking know what she's on about. What? She wants me to be pals with her? My plan was to show her my work ethic first. It doesn't help that I'm seated right next to her seat, putting the pressure on me to keep her company. I think the other co workers have beef with her too based on the interactions I've seen with them and her as well.

That sounds like a recipe for disaster tbh. Feelings and emotionally driven superiors that don't communicate their expectations well almost always lead to a toxic atmosphere. When did you start the job?

Usually, issues at work creep up way later because in the beginning, people try to play all nice etc. Hope you'll be able to resolve the issue or that it won't affect your daily experience too much.

Thank you, I'm hoping that's the case. I'm holding out hope that once I get assigned work, things will improve but we will see

Got my compensation numbers this week. I didn't get the promotion as the company only allows promotion every 3 years and I was promoted last year. Luckily my boss was able to force a market adjustment and a few other things.

Compensation wise I got the promotion with a 10% salary increase and really nice bonus. Honestly that's all that matters as my title could be toilet cleaner long as I make that cheddar.

Bonus is going to help with all my CyberTruck accessories lol.

I'm a Claims Adjuster for an insurance company

One year later (approx) I'm doing the same job. Getting promoted next month and getting a big bump in pay.

I suppose the experience in the position has helped a lot because my stress has gone down but I wouldn't say it is absent.

My hairs have greyed but I'm finally gonna get some peace with my new position.

We're all gonna make it brah

My favorite thing about starting some new job - Before you start working there, they are desperate. They can't find any good help and would die for a new hire who had at least 4 functioning brain cells. They've seen complete chaos and insanity and have lost any faith in humanity.

Now you've arrived. You're not an idiot. You handle yourself well and pick everything up and even develop your own new efficient methods to do it faster than anyone else. The team is thrilled, right? They desperately wanted someone good for once and you're fucking killing it!

No, they aren't thrilled. Their egos are now being threatened. "How dare someone come in here and learn everything fast and become as good as they can at their function. He's trying to show me up! I bet he wants to steal my job! Well, I'll make it more miserable for him for years to come. I'll wipe away any joy he has while working here. That'll show him for being the absolute most perfect new hire I could have ever wished for!"
