Thread: Which consoles do you currently own and which do you currently play?
Own:
Xbox One X
Xbox 360 Elite
Wii
Dreamcast
N64
DS
3DS
Vita
SNES Classic
PSP
SEGA Master System II

Play:
PC
PS5 Digital
Switch

Truth be told, I barely even use the PS5. It was mainly bought for exclusives, but with Sony keen to bolster their PC offerings it honestly feels redundant.

I've owned most platforms EXCEPT anything MS.

Avid arcade player
Amstrad CPC464
Sega Megadrive
Nintendo 64
Playstation 3,4,5
And some stuff in between, but I'm just Sony now. Their game catalogue just clicks with me.

Selfishly reviving this thread.

I own:
PS2
Wii
2 broken DSi's (thanks little sisters)
PS4
Steam Deck

I used to have a PSX and N64 but I can't remember where they went, I was too young around that time to remember. I also had a PS3 that I had to sell to afford getting the PS4. Never selling my consoles again.

Exciting news is apparently there's a chance I could find a Sega MegaDrive and GameCube maybe even more consoles in my grandfather's basement, that or my father is making shit up. Can't wait to find out next time I pay them a visit.

*Oh, and I just play with the Deck (and PC, not a console) nowadays.

I've owned most consoles but always sold as I invested in a new gen console. I started selling as a teenager with no income but as an adult it's just a storage issue. I've given older consoles away to friends or charity as an adult.

I gave my Switch away to a friend's son last month. It's the 3rd Nintendo console in a row that I owned but never really played much at all. No slight on the console itself, the odd moments I did play I thought it was great. Same even for the Wii U, I loved it but hardly ever used it.

I have an Xbox Series S that hasn't been connected to my setup for 6 months. I'll probably give this away in the next month or 2.

Connected and being used I have a PS5 with extra 4tb drive and extra 4tb USB drive for PS4 titles. Also a very capable mini pc with an extensive BigBox library. The mini pc visually bypasses windows entirely and launches straight into BigBox. Both connected to a wall hung 75" TV.

It's a very clean setup as I have it right now. You cannot see the console or pc or any wiring at all. And high enough to be fingerprint free. I have a 4 year old son and 6 months ago everything was low down, visible and completely covered in fingerprints daily.

And after some time I much prefer the cleaner setup. My old setup was also clean, but different. Seeing nothing but the TV itself is definitely a pleasant experience while gaming.

Does your PS2 still get any playtime? My nostalgia for that thing is so strong.

Nope, it's just locked up in a closet.
I would pull it out and play the handful of discs I still have but honestly it's a hassle especially as we only have 1 last TV in the house that still has AV input and that TV is also not installed and is in storage. I would actually rather just emulate on the Deck through PCSX2 which is what I do.

Once I become independent and live on my own I'll probably set everything up so I can also use the older consoles to play, or at least have them on display instead of being in a closet.

The Playstation's golden years was the PS2. The Xbox's golden years was the OG and first half of the 360 (2001-2008). Both are shells of what they once were and are living off previous reputation hard. PS5 is better than the XSX but mainly because Xbox's software lineup has been dull since 2012. I mean, people still consider Halo, Gears of War, and Forza Xbox's strongest IP's and all of those series golden years are generally agreed to be long in the past. You can argue FH5 but the FM fans will have another opinion. NXE gutted the Xbox brand and it never fully recovered. Playstation is still high on making narrative games and stroking the ego of game reviewers that have never read a book by making GOTY "so brave" bait. The Switch has its problems (software pricing, poverty online service, won't make a new game unless they can revolve it around a new gimmick) but the games are still fun so that's where I'm at. I would love for Xbox to go back to it's "dude bro" days and for Playstation to go back to it's Spyro and action-y God of War days but there are no signs of that future on the horizon.

For online play, I consider PC the only option to have fun. Xbox and Playstation have done everything they can to kill in-game mics and encourage a 'walk on egg shells' atmosphere. Playing online console games used to be like walking into a bar. It's now like walking into a classroom with a strict teacher.

Grandparents update, the old bastard was indeed making shit up, my grandmother is sure they don't have any of the consoles anymore, just a couple ancient desktop PCs is all what's left . Oh well.
