Thread: What's your origin story? Explain your username and avatar.
In the beginning it was just Wolf.

Then Wolf46 (because of valentino rossi number), then in my ex-italian forum my friend and supermod discovered that i was a BB nuts (sort of) and then he changed my name in GymWolf46.

It's lame as fuck but i decided to keep it because why the hell not, and then i just erased the 46 because i'm not a motoGP fanboy anymore.

Relativ is how you'd write "relative" in Norwegian and I added the 9 cause it kind of looks like an inverted e and at some point on PSN or something "relativ" was already taken. As for the origin, I'm fond of the all-encompassing nature of the "everything is relative" phrase/quote both in the context of Einstein and Trotsky (though I'm not at all a Marxist) and so decided I would use it as a username for everything going forward.

As for the avatar, that's my boy Toby form The West Wing expressing with incredible accuracy the simultaneous sadness, hopelessness and frustration felt when dealing with entrenched lunatics. I believe I chose that avatar when shit was going down on GAF, having had one of my real face before that.

My avatar is the legend himself "Beat" Takeshi Kitano in the film Battle Royal. The scene is the morning after the first day and Kitano (his character name too!) is doing the announcements of who died over the PA system. For those who were active in the old Gaf movie thread you probably know I am infatuated with Takeshi. He is the Japanese Clint Eastwood. Actor, director, cold, manly.... pretty much all the stuff that makes one awesome.

My user name is an anagram of Karma. Of course no one gets it and just assumes I misspelled "Arkham". But what are you gonna do?

I always assumed that was a picture of Rodrigo Duterte

We need gif avatars tbh.

As evinced by @rykomatsu's broken Avatar the Xenforo forum software doesn't like them by default and albeit I dare say there is likely a paid add-on that might enable it, the general consensus is they're a terrible idea prone to abuse (flies, strobes, NSFW Fightclub style image inserts, etc, etc). Ultimately, that just means more work for the Admin/Moderation team at the end of the day policing the forum and that's not what we want this place to be about in terms of focus.

It's understandable but I though most are mature enough here to not use something that's considering trolling.
Gif avatars worst idea ever

LOOK AT ME

Pic a static photo and work on improving your writing
Excuse me for thinking something more on the subtle side instead of the extreme and worst. Ultimately it's not important but I don't mind the additional options. Reaction GIFs however can sometimes become too much.

You are excused

Agreed on the reaction gifs, it's an art and some people have no sensibility for it

I was heavy into script writing in high school. One of my favorite ones I wrote had an anti-hero named Cravis. So when I first created my Xbox account way back on the original in 02/03 when Live started I chose that name. For the sake of consistency I've been using the same name for the past 20 years hah.

So I'm watching a Sinbad film I like and they travel to the mythical continent of Lemuria. Which frankly I'd be well up for doing this week. Even if I have to fight stop motion monsters. Also I have a new Hawaiian style shirt with Lemurs on it. I'm getting big into loud shirts.

The avatar is from a glitch while I was playing Amnios (an Amiga exclusive, best retro computer).

Just really old stuff.

I believe you spelled Atari ST wrong ;) But being serious I love both machines, I had both at different points, and still spend a stupid amount of time on both machines today. It was such an amazing era of computing, we were lucky to experience it I reckon.

People have been cancelled for less. But yes, the 16-bit era was pretty awesome all round. I've still not even touched an Atari ST emulator though. One day.
I'm white and male, at this point cancellation is a given. Honestly the stuff people were doing with those machines back in the day was just bloody brilliant, and without the crutch of cinematics to fall back on you got brilliant gameplay. Add to that the fact that those machines were a fantastic gateway drug to code, art and music, oh man I just can't get enough of them.

Totally. They really did push what you can do with a few megabytes. And I'm definitely a gameplay focused player. Plus the art and music are still an influence on my tastes.

Damocles. Half a meg of RAM, 8MHz CPU, fuck all in the way of coprocessors and chipset, solar system on a floppy disk and you can go anywhere and do anything. Fuck yeah.

I was a detective in new York and my wife took a job in California. I thought she would fail and come crawling back. She didn't. Her boss invited me out for Christmas. I went to their Christmas part and terrorist invaded the building. The rest is pretty much history. I liked scarlet spider so that is my Avatar and I made a brand of intercoolers back in the day and sold them during peak fast and furious.
