The hardening mechanic is definitely something I gotta get used to.

*An hour or so later and just now killed the Grisha mini boss after upgrading with an acid was or whatever that is called. Took an embarrassingly high amount of tries.

I couldn't get into it, unfortunately. Felt so stiff and the first area was super bland.

Diablo IV post campaign exploring and doing lots of side quests and areas I never got to doing during the campaign since you are meant to focus on it or you will over level doing the side quests (it is a huge campaign with tons of stuff to do). Sanctuary is gigantic, Necromancer level 47, and only still in second region of Scosglen.

Nearly all gear is legendary now, once at level 50 will do Capstone Dungeon and World Tier 3. Drawback of Diablo IV necromancer is undead army minion max number is even with upgrades still very, very limited in comparison to Grim Dawn necromancer, Last Epoch necromancer or Path of Exile necromancers who can get absolutely cool insane shit like Vaal Summon a Entire Skeleton Army.

Vessel of Hatred Expansion looks cool, but Path of Exile 2 just looks absolutely bonkers on a entire different level.

Grim Dawn Fangs of Askerten Expansion apparently pushed back to 2025. I would not be surprised if it actually is Grim Dawn 2 given its apperently massive size and overhaul. Also the complete lack of footage which could be hiding a new engine...

Did you try Diablo 2 remaster? I've wondered about it and it is often on sale too. I have only tried the 3rd game where I liked the game but never enjoyed half of the location settings. I wondered how 2 remaster compares.

Diablo 2 is without a doubt the best Diablo.

With that said, it hasn't age very well with the huge lack of QoL features, and I doubt that anyone who didnt grow up with the game or played at release is gonna fully enjoy it since nostalgia do carry this game.

Path of Exile is very close to Diablo 2 and has a huge amount of QoL features. It has a steep curve to get into thanks to years of systems added upon the base game, but if learned its really great

Thanks a lot for that. Based on that I think I will give Path of Exile a try! I have seen people speaking really highly of that game over the years. I only have a PS5 so hopefully the port is good! Thanks again 👍

No problem hope you'll enjoy. As said, just try to stick to it despite the steep learning curve.

The newest season started a few weeks ago, so Id start there. You can earn free cosmetics and stuff like that.

My suggestion is finding a class you think sounds cool, and try to google a build for that class. I enjoy making my own build through trial and error, but I have also played it a bit over the years. You can easily nerf your character, since you can make very hardcore builds.

this season is less punishing in regards of that as well. Before you had to get currency to respec a single point which was a pain in the ass. Now you can just use gold which drops alot.

Giving Yakuza series another chance. Playing Yakuza Kiwami 2. Seems more of the same but new engine is pretty cool.

Trash game tbh. Story is stupid as hell yet there's so many long cutscenes. Side stories are boring too.

While playing Uncharted 4 on the PS5, I noticed that I seem to have gotten some drift on my right analog stick. I was wondering why the camera kept favouring moving up slightly. Figured it might be some camera glitches at first but... I tried with another game with the camera with a similar setup (Anodyne 2) and it was also gradually doing the same thing. No huge movement but noticeable if you've been playing the games a lot. The camera shouldn't behave that way.

I've swapped it with another controller and it seems to be the case as I've encountered no issues since.

Just disappointed since it's not like a play games a ton these days (Or for the past few years, really...) So for a controller to fail like this... Ugh.

It's not super noticeable at first but times when I attempted to aim... Yeah not fun.

I reset the controller and unpaired it and re-paired it to no avail. Guess I'll have to get another spare controller down the line.

Also chapter 19 in Uncharted 4. Enjoying it again once I got past some of the Jeep stuff, earlier on.

Luigi Mansion Dark Moon HD Remaster-
I'm at the final mansion. I ended up taking a break since I'm still stuck on Mission 5-5. I have to go to a couple of rooms in the mansion and suck up all these ghosts under a hidden time limit. It's annoying as hell. But I'm loving the game and am a huge fan of Luigi's Mansion 3. I haven't played the first game yet. Overall, game looks fantastic on my OLED Switch. But man is it tought at times

Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney- I'm only playing the first game. I'm loving the humor of each case. Also each one being standalone is refreshing. I have two more cases to finish till I beat this VN. Visaully love the cartoony anime look and the character designs are all bangers. There's a certain charm during the whole VN I've been really enjoying

The Legend of Nayuta Boundless Trails- I'm loving everything about this game except the gameplay loop. Not a fan. But what makes up for it is the plot, graphics, music and love exploring the town. I'm still early on in the game but i can already see the Trails connections. I'm a huge fan of The Legend of Heroes so this is a required play for me. I especially love how bright and colorful the game looks on the OLED screen on my Switch

Steamdeck OLED

Muv-Luv-
Again not really far into this VN, but I've been enjoying the animations they add to each scene. Characters mouths move and actually makes expressions. Not to mention it feels like I'm watching a slice of life anime at times. I've eventually get back to this game too and finish it this year. Dialogue and plot is interesting so far

These are the four games I'm dedicated to finishing this year hopefully

All these oled devices gives me ptsd.

I hate OLED. Every OLED unit I've had got burn in, and it's so hard to find proper phones or smart watches without it.

I recently played an interesting roguelike that's still in the very early stages. Dungeon Clawler. It's a turn based battler. On your turn, you operate a claw machine to grab as many actions as you can. Download the demo and see, I think there's definitely a good idea in there.

Mortal Shell
First thing I'm playing on Steam Deck. First temple done. I think I may be a little overpowered. I spanked that boss quick.

Really like the design of this game. The lore too.

Diablo 2 Resurrected is incredible in both atmosphere and sense of adventure akin to the 1999 Mummy film.

Its a Remake and has a lot of improvements over the orginal but is still held back by a missing a lot modern Qol. Still, 1 2 and 3 were meant for single player vs a Destiny MMO lite like 4 and it really shows, even if 4 has the best ease of play and 3 the best player characters and coolest skills with no respec cost in my opinion.

Sony PS+ had Star Wars Skywalker Saga Lego game for free.
I played the Phantom Menace, first complete story mission. This is definitely a polished Lego game, it is really huge. As a result of the time sink and distraction this game most certainly is, I am going to put it down and get back to completing Control: Ultimate Edition.

Helldivers 2 continues to get my attention, grudgingly; i hope they address the missteps this latest patch did to the weapon systems.

Was just going back one of my saves in Return to Monkey Island. And I have to say, the way the game asks you if you remember where the story was before loading is MONEY. After a year I forgot most everything. But a nice little synopsis by Guybrush and bam I am back in knee deep.

Also have to come clean that the art style no longer bothers me at all. Sure I will forever pine for Curse's cartoon aesthetics, but this still looks good and makes it easy to see objects on screen.

CYGNI: All Guns Blazing has been really fun to get into. More about dodging internet hot takes than bullets, and managing resources like patience and going to bed at a reasonable hour.
I can't believe Wukong comes out next week!!!
EDIT: ... and totally forgot that physical copies of Eschatos and Shadow of the Ninja are coming end of August too... IT.NEVER.STOPS!

Playing Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine (PC).

Game is a classic Tomb Raider clone, with very slow tank controls. It's very dated, but seems quite interesting. Enjoying it so far, levels are well designed. GOG release runs great.

Kingdom Hearts Final Mix. Not really sure what to make of it so far, about 5 or 6 hours in. The gameplay feels "stiff" but the variety of the characters and worlds is well done, it's kind of like being at a Disney theme park with a sprinkling of Final Fantasy although it very much feels like it's a game of its era.

I bought CoD Cold War on sale on Steam.

I was hyped about Black Ops 6 until I saw that ADHD movement, and knowing how aimbot for controllers work then I am sure as hell not going to play that game at all.

Bought Cold War instead, and damn, did I miss out on a gem. It looked like garbage back when it was released and I was tired of constantly leveling up from scratch every year with CoD, but it was 20 bucks worth it.

Still plenty of people playing, and its crossplay so hopefully it takes a while before the game dies, if at all.

Cold War is one of my favorite in the COD IP. It also has the best Zombie mode, which played a bit like Left 4 Dead in its own COD way.

Glad you got on board, the story isn't half bad, either.

Over the weekend I started and finished Blacktail, a Baba Yaga inspired tale played in first person with bow and magic combat.

I enjoyed it quite a bit, had it in my wishlist for quite a while and finally got it in the latest humble choice. Don't regret the 9 hours I spent with it at all, had decent fun. It starts slow and confusing, but after an hour or so, it warms up and gets interesting.

Remembered today that I had a free key for Forza 2023. While redeeming and downloading I was reminded that I also have a year of GamePass Ultimate lol.

Anyway booted up Forza....and man that is a LAME intro. A. Its too long B. You cannot skip any of the cut scenes. Took like 15 -20 min to get to a place where I could quit the game. Was cut scene, tutorial 1 lap race, cut scene, 2 lap race, cutscene, select car, longwinded overview of your selection, tutorial race. <-- and HERE you can finally access a menu.

Its a fucking racing game. And what the 5th iteration of this series? Let me skip all the pageantry and let me do a mother fucking quick race or time trial. We have played this game before and know what to expect.

Will probably go back and try some more....but damn did that start chap my ass.

GhostRunner 2. I like it! I found 1 a bit too annoyingly difficult, but this one has retained the challenge but improved the levels/environments, combat smoothness and checkpoint saving to make it a much more enjoyable experience. If only the devs would fix the bug that resets your keyboard updated configuration after every boot (ffs). Enjoying it a lot, though.

Mortal Shell
Damn. I really like this game. I'm on the last temple and decided to level up the Martyrs blade for this area. Once you figure out the combat and level up your weapon a bit, it's fairly easy in places. Totally worth more than the $3 I paid for this. Not sure if I'm up for NG+ or try out the DLC run.

Been playing Uncharted 2 for some reason. The remastered one that runs at 60fps on PS5. First time playing it since it came out.

There are some pretty cool and fun moments. And there is a ton of tedium. It's also kinda glitchy in spots. But what sticks out to me the most is how much less fun it feels to me now than it did when it launched. I decided to only do Hard and not Crushing, and that was a good call because it's more tedious than fun a lot of the time even on Hard.

Ok, I have gone back and given Forza '23 some more time and its actually pretty solid. Menu's, garage and career layout are pretty clunky. But the in the seat of the pants racing feels good with my usual suspects (Skyline, Evo, Impreza). I have the graphics set to auto and overall pretty disappointed with what I get out of my 3060Ti. Textures are pretty low res. Its more than acceptable, but I expected more. What the game really needs is a 'fast race' option. Cuz even the most basic race takes way too many button presses. But having fun and will probably play for a while.

Finished the game. It was a tough one. It was generally good, but it really tests your patience and I was out of it by the end. Levels are very long, taking 1-2 hours to beat. Most of them were quite interesting and rewarding to beat, but some were frustrating.

Cool easter egg:

Didn't find it myself though.

People say that Dynasty Warriors 8: Extreme Legends Definitive Edition never got a physical release on the Switch. That's not technically true, it's just that it seems to have only gotten a physical release in Japan. Anyway, I've been have a blast playing this. I played vanilla DW 8 on the PS 3 but never had a chance to play all of this extra stuff that came with the Extreme Legends expansion. I think DW 5 and 8 are probably the best ones in the series. DW 3 was great too, it was my entry point into the series. However, it had some difficulty balancing issues, like archers hitting you with an arrow and taking off half of your health bar.

I've been using the camera on my phone with a translation app to get past the language barrier. I've started getting used to what all of the different menu options are, so I'm getting to a point where I won't even need to use the app anymore.

I have played Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2. It's been years since I played them so my comments are going off of memory.

I liked the Disney nostalgia, more than anything. It was fun to fight alongside Aladdin or the dude from The Nightmare Before Christmas. I used to watch the show Once Upon a Time, which also featured a bunch of classic Disney characters. I also have a whole bunch of Fables comic books and loved the movie Enchanted. I like fairy tale type stuff and old school Disney stuff. Granted I know now as an adult that's there is a lot of dark shit that has come from that company and I certainly don't like what they are currently doing in the realms of culture and politics but that's a topic for another thread. Growing up, I loved Disney and have a lot of nostalgia for some of that stuff just like a lot of people do. The Disney stuff to me has always been the main draw of the series. The same way people who watched Once Upon a Time wanted to see their favorite Disney characters on the show, people wanted the same thing with Kingdom Hearts games.

Combat in the first game wasn't amazing, but it was better in KH 2. That game added some cool context sensitive attacks that you could do in the right situations and against specific enemies.

Boss fights in those games felt epic for their time. I mean getting to fight classic Disney villains in a video game was cool and the ones in the KH games felt so much bigger and more epic than the fights we had in our old 8-bit and 16-bit Disney games years earlier.

On the negative side, the story is crap as you have pointed out. A convoluted mess that makes no sense and is full of a lot of typical anime tropes. It's trash.

Also, I have always HATED the incorporation of Final Fantasy characters in these games. They feel so out of place it's ridiculous and I think this has contributed to the awful story telling as trying to create a cohesive world that contains dramatic Final Fantasy characters like Sephiroth alongside kid friendly, goofy Disney characters like Donald and Goofy just doesn't work.
