Thread: What Are You Currently Playing? |OT| Gotta play them all
Official Thread
I'm not even suggesting Babbdi is a bad game, but a tongue in cheek comment that is literally a walking simulator; albeit a very good one that is more than just an essay put to a 3D engine that most of this garbage tends to be.

However, you know what the best walking simulator out there is?

Metroid Prime. It is a First Person ADVENTURE game. You walk everywhere! Go play it, give glory to your avatar and forsake Samus Aran no longer.

Users keep pointing out my Samus avatar for some reason, but it's funny, I like it.

Speaking of, I am playing Metroid Fusion right now, I'll have you know.

*Also I wasn't alluding that you suggested Babdi is a bad game either, again, I just wanted to clarify what I meant with my original comment as I only typed it as a quick witty remark at first but I realised I need to add clarification or else people will strangely hunt me down for my avatar lol.

I'm reading a whole lot of NOT PLAYING METROID PRIME.

By the way did you know you could import the Metroid Fusion suit into Metroid Prime using the GameCube to Game Boy Advanced Cable?

Just sayin'.

I WILL play it! eventually soon™. It's pretty high up on the list. I like to take my sweet ass time with games that I end up liking, to excuse why I haven't made it to it yet.

Whoa that's cool. I definitely want to try that.

Now I just need to get that cable, and a gameboy advance ...... and a GameCube.

Good news is you can just get remastered on switch these days. Looks awesome too.

I want echoes remastered so bad. Also corruption. MORE PRIME.

Robocop doing what he does best: shooting bad guys in the dick.

Unironically my GOTY 2023. It doesn't have the technical polish of a AAA game, but it has a lot of heart, passion, and love for the source material that most AAA games with leering executives and woketard developers refuse to give fans what they want. Would gladly give up some polish in areas like facial animations for an authentic Robocop experience where I shoot people in the dick with the Auto-9.

Speaking of, how's the controls for Prime 2 and 3? I can whip out the good old wiimote and nunchuck if the controls are actually good and not an annoyance. Or is Primehack better? I will play the GC version of Prime 1 regardless (I need a GC style controller so bad. Do it, 8bitdo)

Wii mote is great for all Prime trilogy games. But you must switch the aim mode to "advanced" because the default speed/dead zone is awful

Playing Prey: Mooncrash. It's alright, quite tense at times. I don't like doing the same stuff over and over though. Escaped with 3 characters, but apparently one of them didn't escape the correct way.

They should have limited Mooncrash to maybe 3 characters. There's way too much repetition. Simulation must be reset at least 11 times to complete the game. I think I'm close to finishing it but it's not very fun overall.

It's a great game and wouldn't agree on your tech criticism. Sure it has stiff faces and some issues, but it's still one of the best looking games out there with superb lighting and some of the best looking ground details I've ever seen in a game. Gore is on point as well.

The environments look gorgeous, I agree. The team definitely knew how to make use of Unreal Engine 5. I was more referring to the character models and animations, which definitely aren't up to AAA standards (beyond Robocop himself, of course. The devs spent their limited character budget wisely).

But given I love Jedi Outcast's story and that game uses stiff, Quake 3 engine animations for its cutscenes, I'm more than willing to deal with that in exchange for having less AAA bullshit.

Didn't they try to turn Mooncrash's concept into a full game with Deathloop and it was meh at best? I always thought Arkane was a bit overrated as a developer since they do make immersive sims, but none of them are on par with the classics or even the Eidos Deus Ex games.

I thought Prey was the game of theirs that's on par with some of the classics?

Resumed playing Metroid Fusion, as Tomb Raider 2013 is too boring for me to play it on its own. Now Fusion isn't that much better but I just got the wall penetrating Plasma Beam so I think I'm close to the end. The boss fight with X-SA is imminent (I hope I do get to fight it.)

Just finished Metroid Fusion. I know I said the game is lame, but it got better in the second half, shortly after I picked it up again this week, it just finally started to become interesting again towards the end, and the dumbass AI Adam had a cool moment too, almost redeemed its boring quest giver quip in the first half of the game, almost.

Samus remains as badass as ever, even though I thought the game lost steam after the interesting start, it picked up for me again in the second half, pretty enjoyable overall.

Started Resident Evil 4 Remake a couple of days ago. I like it, but the focus on combat is a bit tiring, as I find the huge amount of enemies a bit tiring. I never cared much for the combat in these games, it is too stiff and I fucking hate the weird aiming and enemy movement, together with the number of shots they require to die.

Looks great though and the atmosphere is top notch like all the releases since 7 (never played anything before that one). I guess it will take me a while to finish, because I find playing this game rather exhausting so I can only tolerate it in short bursts. Pity, because I love the atmosphere and the horror.

Expeditions: A MudRunner Game is as I expected. Snowrunner-lite with more emphasis on driving than hauling. Really liking it so far.

A couple of hours of Pacific Drive. Great atmosphere, I like what I saw. I will wait until I finish RE4 though, I think. Too many games at the same time.

Need to get back to Tekken 8 this weekend, for sure. I miss it.

7 is your first? You have to at least play Resident Evil 1 on the GC, it's a classic, even if the general aspects of RE games kind of wore down for me after all these years, I still love it. Original 4 is also brilliant, played it on the good old Wii, and I heard the atmosphere in the remake isn't as strong actually.

RE7 Gold Edition is actually my favourite in the series.

Yeah, 7 was my first. I think I tried 5 or 6 a long time ago, but didn't click with it. But 7 really absorbed me with it's horror atmosphere, I loved it, so then I got the RE2 Remake and all releases ever since.

I know indeed.

Then you shouldn't run out of ammo of you explore the environments well enough. That said, ammo management is part of the game and it's designed to be always barely enough. A bit of the constant survival horror struggle.

I think the amount of enemies is a strength of the game, it's designed to be stressful and tense. I can understand that it's not for everyone though.

Going back to the other badass woman in gaming (and I was only a couple days off international women's day), I finished Tomb Raider 2013, my thoughts didn't change too much from my first impressions posted here initially, the game is okay or even good overall but it just doesn't feel that interesting to go through, the story and its presentation isn't that gripping and the characters are meh. Now the gameplay is very good, except for the climbing, Lara is too floaty when jumping and climbing, none of the action set pieces felt they had proper weight to them as a result. Still, the gameplay is generally solid. But when it comes to these kind of linear single player games, stuff like characters and the lore of the treasure hunt, these two core aspects both have to be of great quality in order to draw me in, and I don't think TR2013 did that. Out of all the dumb collectible side content, the Tombs were the only things I bothered doing, they're very fun with enjoyable challenges. At the end of the day the game was more playable than Rise or Shadow of The Tomb Raider, those 2 games are just too boring to go through for me.

Next up: Concluding my Halo journey with Reach (not planning of playing the later games), I also want to get my metroidvania fix again so I'll start Touhou Luna Nights, and I swear I'll do Quake, I just haven't played on the PC at all lately.

Continuing the Castlevania marathon with Harmony of Dissonance (on Switch). Colorful and fun. A bit floaty.

Pretty good game. Controls, combat and visuals are much improved over Circle of the Moon. Shorter and easier game. Ending is a bit underwhelming.

Playing the Alpha of an indie game, Vindictus: Defying Fate. A bit Souls like, very nice animations so far, I like the character and world design, although it's all still very rough. Limited content, obviously, no treasures (those are WIP), no leveling, no inventory or items, textures are rough, but it already has some bosses and good ingame cutscenes. Could be a good one of those, and of course has thirsty costumes and animations because priorities.

Got it wishlisted and will wait for more!

I'll pay £100 for the jiggle physics alone.

Yes, I am down bad, why do you ask?

Finished up Kotor. Great game, awful port. Had to reload on multiple occasions due to bugs, and it was pretty janky all around. Maybe some of those problems were present in the original and I forgot about them, but I don't remember it being that bad.

Continuing Tokyo Xanadu and having a great time with it, I think I'm on the 5th chapter.

I was going to get Operation Galuga but the glitches/lack of polish have me waiting for a sale. Instead, I'll play through Hard Corps again with a different character and go for a different ending. Using Fang and holy is he garbage. Two of his weapons can't aim up, he's already been useless in a couple boss fights. Might have to ditch him, the game is hard enough as it is without a shitty character.

I finished Resident Evil 4 (Remake). Great romp, but because I found the combat frustrating and I have a huge backlog and little time, I used god mod and enjoyed it thoroughly, instead of being frustrated constantly. Judge me all you want!

Started Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection. So far so Lara Croft without the tits!

Slowly doing expeditions in Expeditions: A MudRunner Game. I like the game, but I feel something is slightly missing compared to SnowRunner, but can't put my finger on it. Still, it's very enjoyable in a zen way (until you flip over and the swearing starts).

Had a few online matches in Tekken 8. Even won some of them and progressed on the ladder.

Obsessed with Dune Imperium right now, a superb conversion of the physical board game. I'm playing the PC version but it also just released on mobile.

The core gameplay is excellent and well-regarded among boardgamers for being a tense, tight experience that rewards adaptability and improvisation. This conversion maintains that with a very well-designed UI and surprisingly challenging computer opponents.

Can't wait for the expansions!

Played through Alone in the Dark (DOS). Game is more like a point and click adventure than a proper survival horror, except you don't click but tank around with keyboard. Controls are really bad but inventory management especially. I looked at walkthroughs liberally to finish it quicker. Kinda meh.

I just finished Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. Man, that was a great game! After a slow first couple of hours, it turned into this fantastic mix of Indiana Jones and Tomb Raider.

I enjoyed it a lot more than TLoU. Looks absolutely fantastic on PC. The animation is superb, especially all the little attentions to detail, like when climbing how the arms move, when you bump the car how the characters react realistically, etc.

Great story too, minus the strong black woman who can beat up two big guys, but whatever. Really liked the Sally character as well.

It was rare for me to finish a game in three days, but honestly, I loved it, finished it with a smile on my face.

Will play The Lost Legacy next.

Sounds like you haven't played the first 3 games, definitely give them a shot at some point. 2 and 3 especially.
