Thread: What Are You Currently Playing? |OT| Gotta play them all

I've also tried Hitman World of Assassination. Such a clean looking game. It's been absolutely ages since I tried anything from this series. And it's a fun game with a very different pace to play alongside Ronin.

I'll have to grab this in late March when they get the PSVR2 update out. Hitman + VR just sounds fucking great.

I am currently going through the Medal of Honor franchise. Have completed Medal of Honor (psx), which I enjoyed, and are now playing through the sequel Medal of Honor: Underground.

I like the franchise to be honest. I played Medal of Honor: Allied Assault much on PC, and I remember it was so awesome in multiplayer, I spend alot of time playing that with my dad.
The console versions are super clunky yet quite fun. I almost gave up when I started the game, because of the super bad controls, but I went on and quite frankly enjoy it alot.

After I am done with Medal of Honor: Underground, I will go through MoH: Frontline, MoH: Rising Sun, MoH: European Assault and MoH: Vanguard.

Maybe also the PsP games, but not quite sure as I cannot imagine shooters being good with just one stick.

Yeah there's gacha costume collecting, but as best as I can tell all the ability costumes that relate to game progression and exploration (e.g. bug catching outfit, floating outfit, etc) are unlocked through normal play.

Forgot to reply to this. Yeah I figured the game would be generous, but the gambling element remains which is what I don't like. To bring up the roblox example again, sometimes they come up to me and show me their new skin or whatever that apparently costs X dollars and they got lucky enough to get it from a lootbox, they're all excited and shit but for me, while I pretend to care, in my mind I'm like "fuuuck, this generation is doomed".

I was playing Bramble The Mountain King until I got to the forced stealth section with insta death for being spotted, and said fuck this.

I just forbid them from playing Roblox lol

They enjoy a few f2p games like Guardian Tales and Rec Room (which is like Roblox) but they mostly stick to "real" games in our family collection

I straight up told my oldest awhile ago "I'm sorry but Roblox is trash, I don't care if your 7 year old schoolmates think it's good"

Rise of the Ronin. This game is FUN! The game is doing nothing wrong at all. It's open world but I don't feel weighed down by that where I often have done with other games. Everything is moving at a nice pace. Good action and combat. It has been consistently enjoyable so far.

I can definitely see some of the QoL features tucked away in the game menus at this early point.

It's a good'un 👍

Hell yea. Love hearing that.

I played it for a bit, but then it just became too difficult for me, so it got dumped into my backlog.

You can get OP as can be somewhat early in, early being like 30 hours considering it can be a 100+ hour game. If you do the side stuff and maximize your gear/stats, you'll dominate. You also have the defense/offense buffs (items) which are key in tough fights. You still have to play smart of course but it's easy to get to a place where you'll brute force your way through bosses and it doesn't feel cheap or unsatisfying.

I've been playing Lies of P lately. I'm really digging the aesthetic, story & world building of the game. It's very unique.

One thing that puzzles me about the game is the difficulty, I heard that Lies of P is one of the hardest "souls like games" but I'm finding the game to be as easy as pie. I have only died once to a boss, the Fire Puppet one, I have one shotted every other boss. I just beat the cat gang people, they're like the sixth main boss I think. Either there is an insane difficulty spike coming or I'm better at these games than I though. I couldn't even finish Dark Souls 3. Weird.

I felt the same but a lot of those opinions about it being difficult seem to be of earlier versions closer to launch. It appears the difficulty, especially of the bosses, was reduced substantially in post launch updates.

When it released, it was way, way more difficult. It was also balanced in a direction where you were forced to parry all the time, or you couldn't beat stronger enemies. You had to break their stance through perfect blocking.

It was very difficult, and the devs patched the game a few times, making it way more forgiving. So yeah, it's a different game now.

This. I played the launch version and it was pretty brutal, even for me who doesn't find Souls games to be too difficult. But Lies of P unpatched became extremely difficult in the later levels.

That's interesting to know! I'm not very good at perfect parrying but I haven't had to do it much either. If I was forced to perfect parry all the time I would've died a lot. I'm glad the developers lowered the difficulty so more people could enjoy the game.

For me as someone who beat most Elden Ring bosses on the first try, latest after just a few - Lies of P kicked my butt, hard. The parry windows were way shorter, the time to break their stances significantly higher, higher damage output of enemies etc. It was crazy and I have no idea how they felt confident launching in that state. Fixed it inside of a few weeks though, but after I beat it.

I was disappointed because I expected aggressive Bloodborne style combat, but it went full on Sekiro.

Ninja Gaiden Black 2 Remake on PC :) I'm currently on chapter 3 and I'm enjoying. Action-packed and gory! So satisfying slicing dudes up to bits lol Game runs buttery smooth compared to the Xbox 360 original

I beat it pre patches. Fuck that game. And fuck the Puppet Devouring Green Monster shitbag.

Metroid Dread is still really fun so far. I've killed 2 of the EMMIs (3 if you count the tutorial one).

But, I will say that backtracking just isn't satisfying. In fact, it's generally annoying. They will straight up just block a previous pathway with some new thing you can't destroy, and it's all just so you now have to go the long way around in an area you've already fully explored anyway.

Playing more Voin. I'll probably spin up a dedicated thread to talk about it

December '24 release so of course it flew under everyone's radar. I can't believe it's made by a solo dev. "Dark Souls in first person" is the best comparison I can make but the fighting is much faster than Souls.

The world is cool, the combat is really good (reminds me of that Mortal Sin game), and there's a lot of depth to how you can combos abilities with certain equipment. Highly recommended.

I just finished Thank Goodness You're Here! Not sure what the fuck I just played. It was funny. It's also maybe the most British game I've seen.

That game is super funny.

Oh, so there's a 4k texture pack for Space Marine 2 on Steam as a free DLC. Completely missed it. Downloading as we speak, should make for some nice(R) screenshots!

92GB

@Dreamlord did you know this?

No, had no idea .... I've already finished the game and only have 2 of the co-op missions to do left. 🫤

How do you like it?

I like it a lot more than I expected. I've got about 20 hours in. It's an easy game to jump into. Exploring the ocean is fun and running the sushi bar is also entertaining. This was a great pick up when it was on sale. I'm very happy with it.

If you have a handheld, I feel like this is perfect for it.

Hot a few things cooking but just started playing Mega Man 11.

This game kind of came and went, huh? Still early, but it clearly did not get the love it deserves. It looks gorgeous on handheld, plays perfectly, and has a shop of modern amenities that are completely optional to customize difficulty (i.e. auto-charge, increase pea shooter size, "expert" chip to lower gaauge but access double gear, etc.). Also challenge mode with leaderboards??? Say wha!?

So polished and well designed while still being Mega Man. I prefer the rocking tunes of yore over the new electronic stuff, but wow this should have been a bigger deal and should be the standard for these revitalized franchises along with Ghost and Goblins Resurrection.

Probably my biggest gripe with any of the new Mega Man games is that the Mega Man X series exists. I feel like X is so superior in its execution that the old style Mega Man is a failure in every conceivable way. Why make a NES-style Mega Man? While we're at it, let's make an 8-bit retro Mario. Oh, there's no reason to do it, huh? Exactly. They could have made Mega Man 10 and 11 in the MMX style and it would have been great. But nah.

I played MMX a thousand years ago as a rental... what makes Mega Man X superior? Or superior in every way to obsolete the OG?

Mega Man 9 + 10 are literally NES clones, but 11 does feel very fresh to me... or maybe like a continuation of the PSP games.

Now playing Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines

Wanted to get back into real time tactics games. Haven't played them in decades. This one was the very first game in the genre and it's a classic. Still looks great. Only issue - it's designed for 20 fps and thus controls clumsily.

Beaten the game. It used to be so hard 25 years ago but now I was able to cheese through it quite easily. I guess I got really good at videogames.

I expect the expansion to kick my ass though. I never finished it back then.

Played through and completed HROT the last few days. Really grimy soviet era Czechia setting and maybe one of the brownest games I have ever played. It's bonkers, especially the boss fights. However, it really nails that old school Quake feel. Definitely an easy recommend, it's got a nice level of challenge even on normal difficulty.

Also played through both Fallen Aces and The Coffin of Andy and Leyley though they are both Early Access titles, so there's more to come in the future. Both have great potential. Andy and Leyley is really, really fucked up. A game about two absolute degenerates and I was digging the vibe, so I think I am cooked as a human being?

I think I'm on the last part of Red Dead Redemption.
I don't know how to do spoiler tags so I won't mention the situation.

but honestly, the game has been great, but not perfect.
I love the dialog and some missions are amazing, what drove me up the wall was the handling of horses and horse and carriage missions, especially timed missions. holy fuck I had to restart a load because I managed to get stuck and had to get out of it because they steer like crap (I hear that's standard rockstar handling as GTA has this)

I felt like the missions would drag sometimes, there would be a break in the mission list then something else would come up then another random, towards the end I was just trying to get through the game.

having said that some of the missions were like being in a cowboy film, the aiming at times didn't help, and the colour scheme all dark made it annoying at times to try and spot things, couldn't they add a bit of colour, I remember the grimdark days of video games lol

to me its 8/10 game play and 9/10 story

I'm going to play undead nightmare another time, maybe I'll play Witcher 3 after but lets see

I hope RDR 2 comes to Switch 2

oh and enter the dungeon, still slowly making progress.

I enjoyed replaying it with the remaster. It was 60fps on PS5 which really helped the overall experience compared to back when I played it on PS3. But I had some of the same thoughts. There are things about it that didn't age well and then things that did.

It made me want to finally check out RDR2, though not extremely soon after finishing as I thought I may be too burnt out on the formula.

undead nightmare may the stoke of genius that made me want this game. But I had to try the campaign I'm glad I did. I heard RDR2 is even better. So I do want to try it but yeah not. Now. Tbh I need to get to the end credits on RDR.
My grandad loved the older westerns. I would've loved to know what he thought about this. But he passed before this game came out. (RDR)might've been too violent t for him or he probably would have loved parts of it. The story at least yeah. Sorry random tangent. Parts of this game lol amazing especially the sunsets or sunrise.
