Thread: Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection IOTI As Thrilling As The Next Adventure May Be, In The End, You’re Always Left With That Same Feeling
Official Thread
So I've played the first two hours, and let me say this is a good port in line with all the other Sony releases. At 4k Native I'm getting a locked 120fps. The graphics are amazing, you can see so much more detail at 4K and is a huge improvement over the PS4/Pro original. The character models are all enhanced (likely the cutscene ones ised I'd imagine). It's one of the best looking games ever made, without a shadow of a doubt.

I did get a slight glitch in the opening scene with the sea artificing, but nothing past that. Many times I was just stopping and taking in the awesome sights. There's Ultra wide support and Ultra-ultra widescreen support. Both look great but I prefer the classic 16:9, and the FOV never feels limiting. The game does have proper HDR support but you must turn it on in Windows before you boot up the game.

One of the best games on PlayStation just became one of the best games on PC. The PC version is the superior version, but you'll have a good time what ever you play this on.

Uncharted: The Legacy of Thieves Collection is seemingly PlayStation's weakest first-party PC launch so far, according to Steam data.

Independent data tracker SteamDB suggests that the collection attracted a peak player count of 10,851 this weekend, which is significantly lower than PlayStation's other first-party PC games managed, and not enough for a place within Steam's top 100.

In comparison, Horizon Zero Dawn debuted on Steam to a peak of around 56,000 players, and Spider-Man attracted around 66,000. God of War managed an even higher peak of around 73,000 players and Days Gone attracted around 27,000 on its release weekend.

It's possible Uncharted has been affected by debuting during a more competitive release period than Sony's other PC titles, which released during quieter periods of the year.

They delayed this and went radio silent with fans for the best part of 6 months. Pretty much no marketing and little fan fare when they did have a release date. Plus choosing to start with number 4 and Expansion AND going the day after a new very similar game (Plague Tale Requiem).

I do think it will have legs on PC as it is an amazing game and perhaps the best looking PC game tbh. The port could have more bells and whistles but the fundamentals it does very well. Given the work was done by Iron Galaxy, it could of turned out much, much worse.

They're reasoning for not bringing the whole series is so retarded. Half of threads in Steam discussions are about 1-3.

Sony have had a irrational fear of "old" games for so long. They would probably rather remake them than release the original trilogy, same with Bloodborne.

Thing is the original Trilogy still look and play brilliant today (the Blue Point versions).

All you need is a up res and a higher frame rate and loads of older games look so much better.

Unofficial Uncharted 4 PC Fixes Allow Players to Turn Off TAA, Depth of Field, and Chromatic Aberration

So allows the pc gamers to make the game look ugly just as pcmr intended :p
I know people hate TAA but I can't understand it.
It greatly reduces specular shimmering, sub pixel shimmering and is just great IQ improvement. More over, some games like Resident Evil have assets like hair or specular maps designed with TAA in mind.
Chromatic Aberration is can understand although I had no idea it's in this game anyway.
DOF I can also understand because people might want to look elsewhere than game wants.... but I love good dof.

2:20 ... OUCH
Cutscene transitions are prerendered at 30fps and the change looks very jarring!!!
These were also prerendered on ps4 but game was 30.
On ps5 these are all real time.
So the lack of proper IO on pc really hurts this game a bit
edit: Apparently it's also prerendered on ps5. I never noticed because I played 4k30

Nice. Hope the PC version is now at least on par with the PS5 version regarding LOD because it was fucked upon release.

Replaying this game reminds me of how mid this game is.

This game is just kind of boring with its awful pacing, uninteresting forced walking simulator flashbacks and lackluster set pieces. Worst of all it has Sam in it.

Games greatest achievement is its visuals.

It's also waaaaaayyy too long.

I wouldnt mind that at all if there was better pacing and more action/excitement. Parts of this game threaten to put me to sleep.

The game is so focused on being a movie that the fun parts get neglected.

Felt the same way. It was an ok one and done playthrough. But it felt kinda slow and too long.

Multiplayer was amazing though. Sad we don't have it here.

Yeah I had some good times in MP with my friends.

I think about 1//2/3 and how fast the game lets you in the action after the game starts. UC4 starts off with a 1 minute action scene where youre mostly driving a boat, and then the next 25-30 minutes is a flash back with like 2 fist fights, and what feels like the next hour and a half is all setup with maybe 2 action scenes involved.

Why did we need a 20 minute segment of Drake eating dinner with his wife? Couldn't that be a short 2-3 minute cutscene that achieves the same result that can be skipped on multiple playthroughs? Same for the MIND NUMBLING underwater recovery section. This kind of shit happens way too often in this game. These sections arent interesting or entertaining enough to justify them being unskippable.

I love the exploring too. I mean with the opening segments climbing that gorgeous tower in the prison wasn't fun? What about playing Crash? Or Sam's Prison escape? The Auction heist in Italy? What about the basics just dangling off a cliff with the rope?

This is my 4th or 5th playthrough now and love it each and every time.

The pacing and forced walking sequences are indeed awful, but I genuinely enjoyed the exploration and climbing bits. Now that I am on PC with mouse and keyboard, I'm finally enjoying the combat parts, too.

Wait this typing machine also can be used to play games!? ;)

I actually played it on PS4 Pro with mkb. Was so much better than with the shitty controller. You pretty much play an action movie and want to pull off insane shit, and mouse aiming made that possible.

Madagascar is a stress point. Goes from locked 120fps to 110-120 at native.

I've never seen better character models in a game. They look amazing when the camera is close up (cutscenes etc).

I was at peak hype for U4 when it released and it still ended up boring me to tears. I had just had too much of the formula in all fairness. I had hit 100% on U1 twice (because of them releasing trophies after it came out). Then I played U2, U3, and Golden Abyss. That's a lot of the same fucking game/formula to go through.

So while I really enjoyed the slight alteration they made to the combat in U4, there just wasn't enough of it. It felt like 70% of the game was the slow walk and talk, rope climbing shit. How many times can you crawl across a ledge that seems like it's going to break and still feel any thrill? You know you can wiggle back and forth on it all day and that it won't break until you jump off of it if you've played every game in the series.

Play the games on Crushing. The firefights last a while, the results are dynamic and its great fun. Makes you think out your approach and really elevates the whole game.

If only we could force everyone to play at the most challenging difficulty: win the culture war and course-correct the market at the same time, forcing studios to put more effort into systems/mechanics/AI.

I gave this a playthrough recently with the 4090 and was surprised at how much I liked it, the story/characters anyway, though that had everything to do with the fact that I never played it before and the market's since taken a hard turn towards ESG. It was the gaming equivalent of Top Gun Maverick for me.

Those few seconds worth of 30fps transitions from cutscenes were brutal when playing it at 4K/120.

Mouse jitter in the PC version is gone.... Took them some time lol

UNCHARTED: Legacy of Thieves Collection Patch 1.4 Release Notes
Improvement to address camera jitter experienced by some mouse and keyboard users
Added a new menu option to allow users to adjust the smoothing level of mouse movement (Options > Controls > Mouse Smoothing)
Added new Audio Compatibility options (Options > Audio > Compatibility)
Output Mode: Adjust which sounds are played through the OS spatial sound driver. Select different settings if you experience muffled, missing, or unusually quiet audio. If you are experiencing abnormally quiet music or dialogue during cutscenes, for example, try the Spatial mode instead of the Hybrid default.
Latency: Adjust the short period of delay between when a sound effect is requested and when it plays. Higher latency improves reliability of audio playback, especially on lower spec CPUs. Increase this value if you are experiencing pops, clicks, or distorted sound. Higher latencies also resolve issues with audio interfaces configured with large buffer sizes and some wireless headphones. Note: You must restart the game for the change to take effect.

Gonna try this after I've chugged through the last of us one day.

Remember having the same issue as TLOU for me - it's slow paced to the point where I get a little bored despite enjoying the game.

Haven't tried spiderman and God of war yet, but Sony feels like a one trick pony.
They do single player stories great with a cinematic feeling, but either you like their formulae or hate it.

God of war also seems pretty slow, with the spiderman games being an exception from what I've seen.

Tried uncharted 1 when it got handed out for free during covid, but the game was just so slow paced that I eventually just dropped it entirely and unplugged my ps4 in the bedroom

Uncharted 1 is almost balls to the wall action though? I can understand that complaint leveled at 4 (even though I personally find that one to be the best). The remaster added a lot to 1-3 IMO. 1080p 60fps, can't wait to play those games again.

I've got about 35 hours into number 4. Lost Legacy is next on my play list. Another Crushing run for sure. Love it.

Balls to the wall action? Where?

Running around with sully in the beginning feels very slow.
Then running around in the ship also feels slow paced.

Well its a third person shooter and your either a) fighting b) exploring c) solving puzzles. The actual down time of just walking and talking is less than 10%. But yes the beginning bit in the woods with Sully is setting the scene and establishing the relationships, as well as teaching basic traversal skills.

The ship I can't recall. Do you mean the beginning boat where the pirates attack? The U-boat you are in for a minute or the final battle on the carrier that's all gunplay? I can't really recall a slow ship part.

1-3 are a lot more action oriented. 4 and LL are more Last of Us style but the combat encounters there are, are remarkably repayable at higher difficulties.
