Thread: The Witcher 3 PS5/Xbox Series/Pc update is coming Dec 14th (free to owners)
Yeah... but my Series X is connected to a 77" LG C2 OLED 😩🤌
Do you own it on both platforms? Could use the cloud save function to move your save from console to PC and continue on PC when you want better performance and play on console for the shiny graphics.

I messed around with XB, PS5 and Steam and will be playing on PC.

Wait... between Xbox and Steam?

😳 I've never heard of such a thing

CDProjekt added cloud save transfer like what they've got in Cyberpunk with both Cross-Save and Cross-Progression with this latest update.

Should just be a matter of signing into a GOG account on console. Though for whatever reason, you can't do PC to console Cross-Save (even though it works on Switch that way...) so if you started your save on PC, then you can't transfer it. Lousy tbh.

I'll be playing through High On Life and give them a chance to fix the performance and stutter issues. Seems no matter what setting I get them.

I will say though, with everything at max... My Lawd the game looks amazing. Better than most modern AAA in my opinion. Crazy.

Can we be certain that their 'before' shots are also from a high end pc with maxed graphics? The lighting does look better, tho.
It supposed to look better. The RTGI and RTAO are literally the bread and butter of RT this generation. It's implementation should be transformative to all games. It's the sole thing I look for when a game is advertised as "Ray-tracing".

For sure. But in those earlier videos, I wasn't really seeing a head-turning difference. Newer media has made the changes more apparent, to be sure. That said, the game on PC with texture mods and other such tweaks was already a looker, so maybe my expectations were too high. Or maybe I just need to wait until I actually have it loaded up on my own screen. :)

My performance has been utterly murdered, even with DLSS Performance enabled only getting like 50ish fps.

Of course, I do have all RT enabled so that's why, but I really thought I might be able to get a solid 60ish

Many people are reporting that they get FAR better performance with cyberpunk completely maxed out on the same exact setup than they do here. So it really does seem to be an optimization or bug issue.

Cyberpunk doesn't have the foliage density that W3 has. That's a lot of sprites with transparency which creates a lot of overdraw.

True, but the stutter issue is what people are complaining most about, not just lower framerate. It seems almost impossible for some, like me, to get any sort of smooth framerate going on reguardless of settings.

Yea, it's a jittery mess. Tried it more today and just got out of it. The combat is atrocious after playing Sekiro.

Does the visual update also apply to both extra expansion packs also?

I'm kind of intrigued to play this again. I'm so picky with what games I actually invest good time in these days. But this game was really captivating and I really enjoyed my time playing it.

I think the graphics upgrade is a fairly substantial leap from my memory of the PS4 version.

Anyone know if cross progress would unlock all my achievements from the trophies I had? My only playthrough was on the hardest difficulty and I don't think I want to do that again lol

I imported XB to PS5 and PC and it didn't unlock any trophies or Steam achievements.

Downloaded Witcher PS5 so I could transfer my save to my X Box version. Then I realized you had to have PS+ to do cloud saves. Fuck you Sony lol.

The irony is this is the company bitching about MS buying Activision being anti consumer and shit like that. No mofos putting cloud saves behind a paywall is anticonsumer. MS gives it for free.

Looks amazing on my rig everything maxed out. I can't tell the frame rate as the overlay is disabled in this game but I do have DLSS set to quality, everything maxed 60fps+.

Reaffirms my belief this is the best game ever made.

We appreciate every bit of feedback on The Next-Gen update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt you send our way! Please keep it coming while we work on addressing reported issues.

Here is the list of reported problems that we're currently investigating:

  • Game crashes on PC
Make sure to update your drivers
  • Players who own the game on Origin are unable to update the game
  • Low Ray Tracing performance on Intel GPUs.
  • PlayStation 5 version of the expansions are unavailable in some regions
Aside from the above, here are some general tips that might improve your experience / understanding of how the update works:

Following the release of Patch 4.0, players have access to two versions of the game:

  • The DirectX 12 Version
This version includes all graphical improvements and Ray Tracing features.
  • The DirectX 11 Version
This version has no Ray Tracing support and lacks some of the general graphical improvements introduced in the free Next-Gen Update, therefore the performance here may differ even if comparing with the same preset run on DirectX 12 Version.
Players with less powerful hardware who experience performance issues might want to consider playing the game using the DirectX 11 Version.

An alternative temporary solution for issues with Ray Tracing for PC players on GOG and Steam is rolling back to an earlier version of the game. This will also allow running the game with mods that are no longer compatible with the game, but please bear in mind that only the latest version of the game is officially supported. Should you encounter any issues on an older version of the game, make sure to update it first.

Finally, if you used some gameplay mods on the previous version of the game and want to experience the latest update it is recommended to start a new game.

Gotta say that it's really nice to see CDPR do something like this. I came down on them pretty hard for the CyberPunk'd fiasco, so it's a huge boost for them in my eyes to see them put so much work into an older game and release it for free. There's even a tiny bit of new content I hear. Very cool.

Restarted the game because why not, and I got to say it looks absolutely beautiful (performance mode on XSX). Hard to believe that the game is over 7 years old.

The cloud save feature to transfer saves is built into the games service. Does it really need PS+ since it isn't using Sony cloud and is using CDPR cloud service to transfer?

I need Sony's cloud service to get my PS4 save. It's not on my PS5 unfortunately. If it was on there I'm sure I would be fine.

I can't get over how good this looks maxed out. LOVE the new camera angle as well, feels so much more grounded. Best game ever. I literally spent two hours just wandering around a small village and exploring the local woods, sitting beside the river etc. The vegetation, RT and LOD distances are vastly, vastly improved, as are the textures. I don't even take screen shots and look at me now!
