Thread: The Batman IOTI I am Vengeance

Finally got around to watching this (HBO Max) and I rather enjoyed it. Visually it was fantastic. Some really awesome looking shots.

Pattinson did well in the role, but I do feel like they let Batman get shot point blank a bit too much. For the gritty realistic tone they were going for, he was a bit too invulnerable to gun fire and for whatever reason no one seemed to aim for his unprotected head.

While being invulnerable, though, he was also kind of incompetent. I got a bit tired of seeing him being just one step behind throughout the entire movie.

Oh well, it was still quite enjoyable.

I think I liked that about it. They make it clear that he's only 2 years into it, so maybe they felt like some reminders that he's not the unstoppable Batman yet were needed.

The movie is now available on Amazon Prime. I usually watch movies on UHD discs, but this movie doesn't look like it would benefit a lot from the better IQ. Might as well stream it.

I always liked the 2nd movie. Not as much as the first, but I'm not sure why people seem to dislike it so much in general. Danny Devito and Christopher Walken are the best thing in it.

I grew up with it so it never really registered for me but its a pretty fucking weird/dark movie. Sure the first one was violent, but something about the sequel just amps it up a bit. Selena Kyle, Max Shrek, and Penguin all have pretty gruesome deaths, but yet there is the cutesy penguin army at the same time. Pretty weird. Also, Penguin's plan of murdering all the first born children in Gotham...

Watched it yesterday.

Definitely liked the bleak and depressed atmosphere and enjoyed the movie a lot overall. Which is a bit weird because there are many things I'd criticize, like the fighting scenes or some of the cinematography.

It feels different and "younger" compared to other Batman movies, which I didn't mind.
And of course it has some evil corrupt white male commentary with the virtuous female black new Major.

The length wasn't an issue, I felt entertained and the movie never bored me.

Thought it was pretty good until obligatory capeshit finale. Why does Batman have to make speeches all the time?

I didn't mind the last speech tbh.

Didn't like the part with the Joker though, was kinda ridiculous. Didn't vibe with me.

Probably something producers forced into a movie. Stupid action where Batman takes sniper rifle bullets too. Should have ended with Riddler capture.

I wasn't a big fan of the fight scenes overall and him eating bullets all the time. The action scenes in general were meh. I found the chase scene with Penguin pretty boring and too long tbh.

Many things that didn't connect with me, but the story and the atmosphere won me over.
