Concerned about reviews saying the film is darker then the Dark Knight (which I think should have been given an R rating with what was either shown on screen or very directly implied.) Don't know how that's possible without going into outright torture porn.
To be fair the people Batman goes after can be that nightmarish. Even the games Arkham Asylum and City have some real nasty stuff
(especially with the Riddler, Zsasz and Calander Man.)
i don't think the movie needed to be R. It was fine just to long with some editing it could have been a real winner. It just came out OK. Its worth watching as this is probably my favorite batman and favorite riddler. I just think there was a few silly things. Like why would batman or commissioner Gordon be ok with plugging a usb into his normal police laptop.
why even enter these threads brap? I don't need you reacting with "really" to all my posts to know you don't approve of me enjoying a movie you haven't seen

Thought it was excellent. Not as good as Burton's but better than Nolan's.
Love the world they've created. The heavy emphasis on the mob reminded me A LOT of the animated series. Looking forward to seeing where they go from here.
Also that Batmobile is absolutely a beast. I want one.

Contrary to popular belief I've never made another account on here. I think people accused me of it because of the Gertso account, but the mods should be able to see where his IP address is, he's my best friend, lives in Houston, Texas. Former Gafer (same name) and just wanted to be a dick when he heard what happened.

I loved the movie. Just from a cinematography angle it was awesome. Add in that sound on top and it is just beautiful. Story was a refreshing change from the typical stuff. I felt like he was possibly the most convincing actor to play Batman so far. I didn't sit around and think oh that's Robert in a bat suit like I did bale.
Previously my favorite Batman was 89. But this may just top Keaton for me.
Excellent movie with a few flaws here and there. One of the top Batman movies absolutely.
Absolutely no way you can market this to kids though. Gonna be interesting to see how they manage that.
When Cat Woman burst out that privileged white man were responsible for ruining Gotham I could literally hear a record player screeching to a halt.
Batman fighting Riddlers army of mercenaries was cool, but Batman not fighting the badguy in the climax was anti-climatic. Even Batman Forever did better in that regard.
Not a fan of Riddler turning into a Seven/Saw rip off. Same issue I had with him in Arkham Asylum and City.
Putting top tier nutcases like Riddler next to the Joker?
Really enjoyed the movie. My eyes nearly rolled out of my head when Zoe Kravits was railing on about white privilege. Can't we just go see a movie and escape from this shit? Sheesh.
A buddy of mine always gets me these things for free. We'll see if I can make it all the way through the movie before closing it out to watch youtube videos.
Enjoyed the movie though did have some issues with it, particularly relating to the Riddler's plan in the last act and just the general running time.
It is surprising how WB freaked out over how dark and serious the Snyder stuff was and desperately attempted to reinvent the DCEU as wannabe-MCU, yet then they release a movie like this that is basically an adult movie and not for kids at all. Perhaps they were looking at Joker's success.
I would like to catch it again to see how I feel now knowing what to expect but another theater viewing is a sizable chunk of my day. =S
Riddler and Penguin were aces, another actor plays a villain in his creepiest performance ever but it's not shown in previews so might as well not tell you.
Taking my wife to see this on Sunday. She is a big Batman fan and very excited. I am not the biggest fan. I like Batman but half the movies/shows hadn't really done it for me. But I love going to the movies with the wife, so I am sure I will have fun.

at this point its a lost cause to complain about it i'm more interested in that new dragonball movie coming out anyways sure the batman movie will be alright at best
Just got back from taking th wife to this. She loved it. Me.... not as much. Was a 6/10. So.... many.... of... the... scenes... were... soooooo... slow. Movie could have been edited down by 30 min without cutting a single scene or line of dialogue. It was just lingering shot after lingering shot.
Will say the Twilight guy did a pretty good batman. Was a meh Bruce Wayne, but they made him so one dimensional and EMO that I am not sure anyone could have made that good.
This was the worst version of the Riddler I have seen (I am including Jim Carey unfortunately). This guy was sooooooo lame that I wanted to get out of my seat in the theater, walk through the screen and push him to the ground. Just a complete loser. Not someone who got a raw deal, but someone who is so worthless they made their own life (and everyone around them) worse by living. And why did he wear a gimp outfit? And why was there a real lack of actual riddles? There was that scene where we were promised three and only got two. Never was there any satisfaction of one being 'solved'.
Guy playing gordon was great throughout. Gollum as Alfred was decent enough though his character wasnt given many scenes of worth. Just sitting and brooding/thinking mostly.
Catwoman was ok. LIked her minimalistic costume design. How did she not break those press on nails? And why did they cast someone so freaking tiny. (They literally had to CG a scene where she pulls batman up. It looked so fake it hurt.)
Real surprise like was John Tuturro as Falcone. He did a very good job with that role. Probably the second best performance behind Gordon.
Didnt realize while watching that the Penguin was Colin Ferrell. He delivered a decent performance much of the time, but a few scenes seemed "out of character". Overall liked this portrayal of the Penguin character.
Also, was noticeable that all the bad guys beside Falcone were older white dudes.
the mayor, the DA, the dirty cop, riddler, penguine, the twins
And other than Batman and Alfred all the good characters are "black".
Second mayor, catwoman, gordon, the doctor
With an "Editor's Edition" it would probably raise to a 7.5/10 as there was a lot of good stuff in there despite some obvious flaws.
I finally watched this thanks to HBO max and, well... It's an okay movie. As a Batman fan who has not been entirely satisfied with his depiction in films, this still falls short.
I didn't hate it at all, and it was a pretty decent film on its own merits. The problem is how it drags its feet, and the mostly pedestrian version of Batman. The borderline terminator esque armor made me laugh sometimes, but the way he's still just walking around and knocking on doors like any old guy cracked me up too. Batman and Catwoman had zero chemistry, and Kravitz has no presence imo, she has no charisma and totally lacks the sultry sexiness the character is known for. Tbh she could have been cut out of the whole film and it wouldn't have made a big impact imo. Riddler just made me laugh.
The action scenes def fall short of the energy, and brutality that I expect from Batman. Snyder seems to be the only one who really got that down with BVS(minus the killing but w/e).
I wouldn't mind if this was turned into a film series, but at the same time I wouldn't mind if there was never a sequel to this. Especially after that awful tease at the end, and knowing what that character looks like.
Watched it on HBO Max last night. It was better than I expected, but that white privilege line ripped me right out of the movie. Still, I liked a Batflick that focused on the detective aspect of the character.
I think Gotham City in this, Gotham the TV show and even in Batman Vs Superman were great depictions of the city itself.
The storylines not so much. Agreed that Snyder had the best action and scale so to speak. Also agree Catwoman going on about white privilege broke all suspension of disbelief, more so then the billionaire dressing up as a bat.
Best balance of all things batman is probably still the Animated Series and Arkham Asylum/City games.
Honestly it drags so fucking much and was kinda boring... style over substance imo. This one scene where riddler started singing ave maria i almost died from laughing.
