The only DEI that cannot get cancelled is Sony. Too many fanboys like Gaf to make it fail, just see TLOU2.
Sony will stop the DEI I think. Herman Hulst kinda got demoted recently, he has to report to a new Japanese boss that was put between him and Sony CEO. I think this new Japanese boss is gonna stop the DEI shit. Games like Intergalactic and Ghost of Yotei started development years ago at the peak of DEI. Tsushima generated close to $800M for Sony. I seriously doubt Yotei will match that and Yotei will also have a much bigger budget. I think Sony, especially in Japan, is realizing that they're in the business of making money not promoting DEI and that the wave of woke sequels this gen is not paying off in the least for them. Astro also showed them you you can make great games that people want to buy on smaller budgets and with zero DEI.

Sony just fired a ton of California employees without even giving them a reason why.
I've said before that Playstation is a piece of piss to dewokeify, because all Sony need to do is switch the department's headquarters and management to Japan without bringing any of the Californian staff over, then leave California as the regional HQ with no actual power, and just keep scaling back their budget every year, before relocating it to a saner part of America once it's small enough, leaving the activists behind.
I'm morbidly curious as to what happens at Naughty Dog. Intergalactic doesn't look good in terms of direction, and they pissed away a couple of years on the unreleased TLOU 2 Multi-player. I wonder how much good will Sony will extend to them if it fails to meet expectations.
The game is going to suck ass with its controversial BS, but the Music in the Reveal Trailer is legitimately amazing (thanks to Atticus Ross & Trent Reznor)

Honestly may make a thread, pretty big story that kim and this company have so much influence over the Indy scene and are propping up the dei slop you see at every Indy direct
What we need is testimony from an indie dev saying they were offered money by these guys if they push DEI in their game.

You're not going to find many like that in video game development. These are people scrapping by so when they see the guidelines of that $10k-$30k incentive, it's their new bible. And I bet one of the guidelines is to not publicly mention the incentive itself.

This is why they will forever hate Kabrutus and his Sweet Baby Inc. detected Steam curator. He exposed these freaks and the work they do behind the scenes of gaming. Now that people are aware it's harder for Sweet Baby Inc to infect other games.

None of which could have been made without some kind of backing considering they all probably sold less than dustborn
I wonder if the play is to provide experience to as many of these people who are fully bought into the ideology so that they can in turn take it to bigger developers who work on bigger projects.
Games like Dustborn are not moving the needle or anything but if someone can show experience developing games at this level and then leverage that into positions at bigger developers then this funding can work as a form of gatekeeping.
If you need funding to produce a game and the funding is locked behind having DEI crap in your game or if the funding is only available to certain people then there's a level of gatekeeping going on there.
Even if a based indie dev manages to break out and go it alone there will be attempts to have them cancelled and if that fails it's cool because they will be bought out by a larger corporation and will be forced to put DEI shit into their next game.
