Thread: Sony is set to increase PlayStation Plus annual subscription prices
Mines good to 2025 thanks to a store near me having a fire sale on 12 month subscriptions, down to a tenner a pop, years back.

Quite frankly I regret spending the money, even then. I've not played a PS+ game in years. Subscriptions really do devalue games and l3ad to choice paralysis.

When it runs out, I wouldn't resubscribe if it were going down by 20 quid, let alone with yet another price rise.

All these subscriptions are just bullshit.

Yeah I'm out too. I went back to Essential last year and I don't play online games and pay for my games so little value is gained for me besides cloud storage for saves.

I am set to not renew. I already canceled most of the streaming services and Gamepass. NSO runs out in October. Can't afford all these price increases.

I'm down to Amazon Prime, which the wife and in laws use regularly, or would be going next month, Britbox for old British TV shows, and Audible. Also let NSO go earlier in the year, dumped Netflix and Disney+ last year, and won't be renewing PS+ once it does run out.

The more companies push subscriptions, the less I care for them.

Games with Gold goes away In September.

Given Microsoft completely ditches games with gold then there is no reason for Sony to give a shit either.
Oh I know, good riddance to bad garbage. If I was a new customer to the Xbox ecosystem the Gold replacement is incredibly more value than GWG.

I'm down to Amazon Prime for me because I order like 1000 items a year anyways and Apple One. Other services are pure woke trash.

For the payers.

This price adjustment will enable us to continue bringing high-quality games and value-added benefits to your PlayStation Plus subscription service.

They've had more trash months than good months, but recently extremely trash months.

To CONTINUE something, you have to START doing said thing first.

I mean they're literally committing gamer genocide.

These costs over the course of a whole generation of what, 8 years, plus the costs for the console itself... yeah that's a lot of money.

in the first few years of PS+...

- PSN multiplayer was still free for PS3, PSP, and Vita.
- cloud save file backups and cross saves were a novel thing
- remote play was in its infancy
- share play turned every couch/local mp game into an online game

Every aspect of this sub has fallen apart, gotten worse, or never fully materialized.

It's always Microsoft's fault. Sony are always innocent.

I know xbox was the first console with paid online, but that doesn't mean Sony had to do it as well.

On the other hand, Sony was a pioneer about upping this gens prices, but you gets called out on Gaf for mentioning that.

If Microsoft rapes their sisters Sony can follow suit and not even feel ashamed about it. lmao

That's a lot of money for me to rarely play anything online and backup my saves. It's now in the range where I think about keeping it rather then shrugging and paying the bill.

Gaming is just expensive full stop now. You just have to be really selective what you go for. For me it's obviously an expensive GPU!

I'm going more and more retro. Just finished TLOZ: Minnish Cap, going to play Metroid Zero Mission next, then the 3 Megadrive Sonic games.

It's got to that point where I just can't see the point in giving a shit about modern gaming. There's a few bright spots here and there, but for the most part old games are just more fun.

I too love playing older games. Not so much because new ones are crap but I feel like we're at a point now where replaying top tier games is more fun than alot of new experiences. Plus I've been getting away from day 1 releases, where the games are the most expensive, for the most unpolished version. When I got my PC two years + ago I also get to experience all my favorites in 4k 60fps+, so pretty much a remaster for every game I've ever really enjoyed.

I think were actually really lucky to be able to enjoy replaying games as much as we do. Realistically I have 267 all time favourite classics on my Steam client, I could never play a new game again and be happy, and can certainly afford to be very selective what I pick up here on out.
