Strange time where PS4 is getting sucked into the retro singularity, but also gets regular releases.
I think that's basically "end-game". Many players now are perfectly satisfied with that era of hardware in the face of PS5/X-S, and when all the retro/emulation culture is brought to bear (emulators, ODEs, YT video ecosystem, etc.), "current era" gaming just won't have the arrows in their quiver to compete. FOMO and socially engineering outcomes can only go so far.
I don't think Sayaka believes the PS4 is retro. It was just another console to fix.

Well not yet, but it's next! System came out almost 12 years ago, and the hardware be emulated eventually. I don't think it will ever feel "retro" because we're essentially in the same era of game design (and probably always will be), but that's what makes the PS4 "Retro" Event Horizon so interesting… to me anyway.
