Thread: Redfall thread - Vampires = Billionaires | Updated Metacritic score: PC: 53 / Series X: 56
What happened to Arkane. Their previous are some of my favorites. I especially loved Prey, but the game has apparently turned out to be even worse than most people thought it would be.

I thought Deathloop looked even worse than this game and I ended up loving it so I had faith this game would be great too. Ooops, I'm sure glad Tears of the Kingdom will be out in less than 2 weeks.

Any single player dev going multiplayer live service inevitably is going to shit. Granted, I never had that much faith because my opinion of Arkane is pretty ehhh these days. Plus their take on Wolfenstein with Youngblood was absolute dogshit. I loved the Wolfenstein series as a kid and they somehow managed to make a Wolfenstein game where killing Nazis was tedious.

Prey somehow turned out better than it should have, though I don't disagree with you.
I still can never forgive the name change, and the game wasn't great enough IMO to override that initial negativity. In fact, I am genuinely offended by that game's existence. I know a lot of people like the game, but I can never get over the fact that I loved the 2006 game so much and wanted my space bounty hunter sequel.

Gameplay was decent for an immersive sim, but the lack of good worldbuilding killed any immersion for me. If I can describe the cool Sci Fi shit lore in Doom 3 better than an immersive sim, that's an issue.

Added the MC and OC scores to the opening post, as well as some reviews. Depending on the version, it's between 62 and 66.

I think they aren't diverse enough yet. I want them to focus on an even more diverse cast of characters. Additionally, more messaging about inclusion, respect and human rights would be appreciated. In this setting, I don't understand how they're avoiding the topic of bodily autonomy, I'm honestly baffled by this.

Can't say I was sold on it (I'm not really into shooters these days), but being Arkane I was expecting it to be a decentish title based on past form, however, it appears that they dropped the ball big-time by all accounts, esp given its buggy state.

Even if this was started under Bethesda, they've been a MS studio for long enough now that the new management should have been able to pull in talent from other studios and provide technical experts from MS's software engineers to at least get this running well.

I don't doubt they're struggling due to prioritising woke nonsense and diversity hiring over meritocracy, but this is too common a problem with Xbox studio releases to be anything other than broad managerial incompetence over at team green.

Damned disappointing all in all. Xbox can buy up as many publishers and studios as they like, but if they don't get their house in order sharpish, then all they're doing is dragging down half the industry with them.

It's hilarious to be honest how bad these designs are. This is something fairly close to what I would expect a well-funded KKK development studio to come up with if the Democrats suits at the top asked them to make one of the characters black. Not a single redeeming feature and beyond parody.

Nope but I have eyes and watched a number of reviews, the ACG RiP was particularly brutal. I mean, even the "Killing the Rook" video that came out looked really bad. Do you think I'm being unfair to it?

not at all, I have seen the reviews to. I have seen some think its ok and some thinks its awful. was just wondering if you had played it

I mean, at some point, with failure after failure under his tenure, Microsoft has to consider moving on from Phil Spencer. This is just stupid now.

There is no immediate fix for these things though. Even if they put someone in, it's not like they will have a bunch of killer titles up their sleeve. Hopefully, Starfield will turn out decent (going to be prepping the OT on that relatively soon, though waiting on the Summer Showcase for more details).

Personally, I think the A/B falling through is not a bad thing. Kotick has done a great job in terms of making money off a couple of IPs, however, he has done little in terms of developing new IPs and that's a legitimate concern, given the exorbitant price tag of A/B.

Yikes.

I have to wonder what the delay was for if this ended up being the final product. What the eff were they gonna release a year ago?

It's getting a bit silly all around with these broken releases on every front. No matter what every game comes with a * next to it on some platform.

People defending that $70 needed to happen look even more foolish now.

I just watched ACG I think was the reviewer and it looks in rough shape. I'll still try it out but I'm sure I will forget about this game in a week.

NO ONE was hyped for this game. It looked like shit from the start. For those that work in the industry, is there any chance all the DEI bullshit is contributing to some really shit games coming from studios that have a decent history of releasing good games?

If you had just told me the idea on paper and said Arkane was gonna do a co-op version of their formula with a vampire theme, I'd have been totally on board.

But the second they pushed it with the diverse rainbow team of characters, I knew things weren't looking good. And the big reveal being a bullshit CGI trailer like all of Microsoft's other vaporware didn't inspire much hope, either.

Should have just canned it. Now Xbox's reputation has been damaged further. I noticed Phil Spencer hasn't tweeted about Redfall.

Bethesda Accidentally Copyright Claims Official Redfall Twitter Banner

The banner for the official Redfall Twitter account is accidentally taken down following a wave of recent copyright takedowns.

It's back now, though. But pretty damn funny.

Another F76-tier disaster from Bethesda. When will they learn? Ironically, F76 is pretty decent now, after years of patches. Maybe Redfall turns out okay after all.

They need to just start using the "early access" scapegoat if they are going to put a ton of unfinished turds out to fill a gamepass lineup.

At least then they could say "it's just early access so there's plenty coming down the line!" when they can't properly manage future game launches.

Every time I see a black woman/queer or androgynous protagonist featuring heavily on a game's promotional material I automatically assume the studio has been zombified by the woke mind virus and the general level of competency, creativity and fun has lowered and been replaced by hectoring, on the nose political messaging thinly disguised as sassy, brash, loud and annoying 'humour', shitty performance, and bugs.
