Thread: PlayStation VR2 Discussion Thread
I came close a few times to canceling that and saving 50 bucks. But then I realized I don't want to have to use 2 usb cables to charge the damn things after every time I play. I heard the battery life isn't amazing (which is par for the course with PS5 controllers).

Finally they're available on Amazon.ca so I ordered both the VR and the charging stand there.

It shipped, coming Wednesday. Got the Horizon bundle. I hope I can punch alloy in her face. I really can't stand her. Or, if you're her in the game I'm jumping off a cliff. Worth the money.

Lol. Nah you actually play as a dude in this one. She makes an appearance though.

After Fray though, I don't think she's THAT bad. Just wooden.

I watched the DF review and am really impressed. It's an incredible piece of hardware, great set of features. The price is pretty good tbh, it's only 50 bucks more than the PSVR1 set with the stupid Move controllers, and that was old ass bad tech even back then. This is a dedicated premium device, good job by Sony.

But games and software wise, yeah for people new to VR there is a good amount of older great games. Not much new exciting stuff for me there though.

My shipped email came a while ago but never got past the point of Sony printing a label. It's said to be one day shipping so obviously they are handing it off today, but damn I wanted to get lucky like some of the random people on the internet getting theirs early.

And how much of the "new" software going forward is going to be stuff ported from the PC? I just don't see the PSVR2 install base being large enough to support the development of AAA original titles.

The beauty of VR is, they don't really have to. Take RE7 for example. Just adding a VR mode made an 8 game into an 11. Or Thumper. Same thing thing.

And who needs loads of original AAA games anyways? Tiny indies like Beat Saber, Pistol Whip , and Kayak have blown up due to how much better these experiences are in VR. Also AA games match really well as well. Switchback , After the Fall, Light Brigade ect. Throw in the occasional bigger budget games like Boneworks, Alyx , and GT7 , and that keeps me more than happy.

Finally, the shipping page updated!

Now to worry about being home before the delivery is attempted :ROFLMAO:

Looks like it's re-confirmed lol

It doesn't necessarily say that it will be the day the game releases but it also doesn't say it will come out later. Either way, that's fucking awesome. Capcom is fucking killing it. Their VR support in RE games is extremely strong.

This lineup really is crazy right out of the gate. My fucking brother already got his unit delivered and is taunting me with texts. He lives pretty close to me so I dunno what my holdup is lol

Bro, my front door camera spotted the ups driver in front of my house with the package and Sony made a request to not deliver it so the dude drove off without knocking on my door yesterday.

So many random people on the internet yesterday were posting their early delivery photos but Sony made sure you weren't one of them lmao

I'm still waiting here. This must be a tactic because I am finding myself thinking about buying more games to have them installing since I'm waiting anyway...

Yeah, yesterday would have been great too. Today my dog has to get chemotherapy and then my wife has an ultrasound in the afternoon. Then tomorrow and Friday are my "in office" days. Looks like I'll have to play this weekend.

Congrats on the wife, and I'm sorry to hear about your dog.

Thanks, he will be our second boy. The news about our dog was tough because a limp that came out of nowhere ended up being an amputation and now chemo therapy, but he is getting world class care at uc davis so we are hopeful he still has a good amount of quality time left.

Well I've got mine and everything seems perfect...but my brother's got the weird controller problem. So I haven't really been able to enjoy my shit as I've been reading reddit and texting with him.

Basically, one of the motion controllers will just refuse to work. In Horizon, it's one controller, in RE8, it's the other. He's done a ton of troubleshooting and he's pretty pissed and it's really harshing the buzz lol

Damn. Did he try turning away from the TV?

Well, I played about 90 minutes of RE8. Damn, this is gonna be good. If you've played PSVR or Quest 2, the visual fidelity is just such a nice big jump. I just wanna play on this thing all night.

I could nitpick some "regular game" to "VR game conversion" things like how often the character is laying on the ground in a weird way while you are standing in real life, or moments where you're not in control for a while and you feel like you're standing around twiddling your thumbs, but that's just from having already played tons of VR games for years. Most people aren't going to thinking that shit at all.

Was just going to post how great it is. They did a great job on it. Like you said, few nit picks here and there. But stunning.

Yep, the nitpicks are so small because everything else is so good.

The official charger sure is weird as hell, though. It's gonna take me a little bit of time to get used to placing these strange orbs on it without having to fiddle with them a bunch to make sure they are charging.

Lol same. I bought a little 20 cheapo from Amazon and doing the same thing. Works though, so fuck it.

Song in the Smoke is way improved over the Quest/PSVR versions. God damn. Everything is snappier and better and just feels so much more exact.

I played about an hour of re8. A couple things I really don't like… The 60 fps reprojection is noticeable in this game. It gives a blur effect in motion. I'm not sure why 72 hz isn't an option? I comfortably play quest 2 games at 72 hz. I would actually prefer that to 60 fps reprojected to 120 hz.

There is a little too much taking control of the character away from you with cut scenes. In re 4 you would see a flat screen when that action happened, in this game you are still in full vr just watching it take place. I play seated so it isn't as disorienting but I imagine it would be big time to play standing for a new vr user.

The colors look great though and it's great to have oled blacks. The mura, or grain is noticeable on some uniform dark, but not pitch black areas, but it doesn't bother me all that much and it's a trade off I take over lcd.

It does feel ever so slightly less responsive than playing RE4 VR on the Quest 2. Like you can visually feel that reloading and moving around isn't as crisp or fluid.

It's especially noticeable if you switch right away to a game like Song in the Smoke, which does 90fps native. But damn the visuals in RE8 are nice.

Watching some German youtuber. I really wanna get back into VR asap. Hopefully some good standalone-headsets are announced this year.

To all PSVR2 buyers: Have fun!
