Alright so need some advice on this.......there's a chance I can get a Switch 2 at Best Buy near me on opening night which will be Thursday at 9pm.
My guess is a max of 15-20 consoles available and they stated it's 1 per person.
My question is.....how many hours early should I get to Best Buy to wait in this line as I assume there will be one. I was thinking of getting there 2-3 hours early and camping out and if there was more than 15 people already there just say fuck it.
Anybody been through this before?
Am I crazy for not pre-ordering yet ?
Definitely want one but hoping for a demo unit in store to try out before buying
I think the people who DID preorder already are the crazy ones.
IMO, the only reason to pre-order is if you are desperate to play Nintendo's new first party launch games ASAP (like my son) or you just love having the shiny new thing everyone's talking about.Am I crazy for not pre-ordering yet ?

I dunno. Keep in mind that I said that, yet I have 2 preorders in place for myself lolI didn't regret owning a Wii U even if I was disappointed in how it did. Why would I be crazy for preordering a Switch 2 when it already has games I want to play on it?

I feel like they should have made the sticks clickable for L3 and R3 if they were going to shoehorn in ZL. Though guess that's a bigger change engineering wise.
Still no explicit confirmation that L and R are analog but it should seem pretty safe to assume at this point.
I'm not holding my breath on the triggers being analog.
All of the GameCube games will function using the Joycons or Pro controller, which have digital triggers. What reason does Nintendo have to go with analog triggers in their Switch 2 GameCube controller? It would actually be a departure for them to do so and to go the extra distance allowing for it in their emulator... The GameCube controller is also compatible with Switch 2 games.
I want analog triggers. I bought the controller hoping for it. Ever since I purchased, though, I've become convinced it won't have the good triggers.
The analog buttons on GameCube had a digital "click" built in as well which makes it very easy for them to act as digital for other games. And the variant they made for recent Smash makes had analog triggers. I'm not saying it's inconceivable that they'd remove them now, but it WOULD be a departure, and I still see it as unlikely.
Lots of people used them hands on at those events, many of which are big time fanboys. Someone would have come out to complain by now if the triggers were digital I think.
Interesting final specs. 3gb ram reserve for the OS is a bit shocking, as I was expecting 1gb reserved. This will present a bigger issue for ports. For Nintendo developers it's not an issue. If it was 11gb for games instead of 9, it would basically be no gap vs. ps5 considering lower ram requirements for lower resolutions. But now there is a significant gap.
Also the cpu clocks slower in docked mode.. interesting but I wonder if that can be adjusted per game. I wouldn't expect any docked games to perform worse than portable, see Nintendo's switch games for reference. I'll be interested to see DK bonanza portable vs. docked performance.

What's the rationale for lower CPU clock docked.. how does that make sense.
GPU will do the heavy lifting in Dock mode. Lower wattage in handheld CPU will be doing most of the work.
Hmm. Do you have a source on the explanation behind this? I'm not a know it all when it comes to hardware, but this type of "load balancing' between CPU/GPU isn't something I thought would have been a viable option. GPUs perform some tasks extremely more efficiently than CPUs, and vice versa. I find it hard to imagine the margins on the efficiencies here are small enough that dumping off what would typically be GPU tasks on the CPU would make sense in handheld mode, but I of course could be wrong.
