Is anyone really going to use Gamechat over Discord? I rather they drop that feature and use more RAM for games

I will use the Voip when i play MKW with my sister in law. Have never touched Discord and don't plan on starting.

For Mk8 we would just use our phones and put them on speaker.

Now, the video part? Nope! Never gonna use. And I am sure that is a big part of the memory reservation.

Though…. i may use the screen share feature.

I mean, this has basically been readily available info. We've known that this hardware was finished and sitting collecting dust for 3 years.

I'm still there day 1 for the games, but of course I've been a harsh critic of Nintendo for doing bullshit stuff like this.

But the sensible thing to do in that situation is have Nvidia revise the hardware, which they are perfectly capable and willing to do for a little bit of money. I don't think you push forward to mass production with a 3 year old design when more modern and almost as affordable hardware has come along.

These days, Nintendo already acts like the hardware is mostly irrelevant. Just as long as they are collecting those licensing fees and turning a profit on every unit sold. Right?
 
Got an invite to pre order the Switch 2 from Nintendo and ordered. Now to either keep this one and cancel walmart or the other way…

The software is the most important thing at the end of the day. If they can make great games with older hardware, good on them. I'd rather have that situation than the PS5 Pro situation where they have very expensive hardware which allows you to play superb software like Last of Us 1 Super Duper Remake and Grand Theft Auto VI. The Switch 3/next console will have better hardware and it will be able to play whatever games developers don't want to port over to the Switch 2, which is a very small list by now.
 
How do you guys charge multiple controllers? I have 2 NSO NES, 2 NSO SNES, 2 NSO 64, 4 pro controllers and about to have new Switch 2 pro and NSO GC.

With the pro controllers you can use any USB C cable with a charger to charge it. I'm not sure about the rest, but they would probably have either USB C or some sort of USB for charging. Going to the tech store and getting some extra chargers/cables will make charging multiple controllers more efficient.

I was inquiring on methods to charge everything at once. I know how to individually charge my controllers.

I wonder how "improved" the visuals are going to be. Hopefully more stable frame rates across the board.

They should have scrapped the app stuff in TOTK and BOTW and made em free upgrades.

The free upgrades seem pretty decent. Most likely 1080 to 1440P dynamic range and games can go to locked 30 or 60.

Can't wait for all the youtube accounts to mess up this information and find something to complain about.

Let me guess omigod these free upgrades are digital upgrades I wanted Nintendo to mail be a SNES cartridge with the upgrades SMH.

We've finally got some clarity and a statement from Nintendo on this - the information about Variable Refresh Rate support originally published on the Switch 2 site was "incorrect" and VRR is handheld-only.

Here's the full statement we've received:

Nintendo Switch 2 supports VRR in handheld mode only. The incorrect information was initially published on the Nintendo Switch 2 website, and we apologise for the error.

On the topic of potential VRR support for docked mode coming in a future firmware update

We have nothing to announce on this topic.

I guess I'm just now at a loss for why they even need these game key cards. Why is it more beneficial to them?

They could load the actual game on to the game cart, but arbitrarily choose not to, instead opting for just granting permission to download the digital copy. But in both scenarios, only one person has access to this game at a time (whoever holds the physical unit). So why not just have the data on the fucking cart??

Passing the storage costs to the consumer. Third parties would probably skip physical altogether otherwise

So basically the idea is that these game key cards are cheaper to produce because they don't have to store as much data? I'd love to know the cost difference.

Maybe even in the manufacturing process, it's easier to not have to transfer data to each cart? Now all each cart needs is some serial number or key inside of it so maybe that saves time/money on manufacturing that way too? I am just trying to understand how much of a difference in manufacturing cost it could actually be to go through this bizarre route instead.
 
My Nintendo pre order changed to "preparing to ship" from processing. Hopefully, that means I will get it at launch, so I can cancel my Walmart order lol
