Bought Hellbound during the Steam sale.

Refunded it after 8min of playtime. Fugly visuals, fugly enemy designs, dumb level design, the game is pretty bad unfortunately.

Dug out Ion Fury after bouncing off it a bit when I first played it and I think I get it a bit more now, I can see more clearly where the fun is. Only thing is while it runs perfectly on the Steam Deck, controls are perhaps a bit too twitchy, even with scaling turned down, so likely one to play with a mouse and keyboard for the full experience.

Played some more Ion Fury this time with the deck plugged into monitor, mouse and keyboard, and had an absolute blast. Getting those 90s vibes obviously, running around taking headshots and feeling badass. The movement is actually really fucking good.

Also gave Forgive Me Father a go, it's a different style but still engaging in its own way though it hasn't got its hooks into me like Ion Fury.

I have to play more of Ion Fury, it's great. Finished Forgive Me Father, really good first 2/3, but gets tedious towards the end imo.

Severed Steel remains one of the best shooters and the support is simply stellar. The last update from end of Dec added a bunch of good stuff:

The complete list of new features in the Rogue Steel update includes a new rogue-lite game mode titled "Rogue Steel," gyro controls for the Switch, PS4, and PS5, 23 new Firefight mutators, six new weapons, five new modified enemy types, eight new exclusive types, a Cutting Beam mode for the Cannon weapon, 10 character skins, and 15 Cannon skins.

PERSIH is available !!!!

And apparently, it sucks, sadly. Only 32% positive reviews.

PERISH is a stylish 1-4 player FPS with a cross to bear. Slay hordes of creatures on the scorched sands of Purgatory and sell their gold-stained corpses to craven priests. Kill magnificent bosses and use the proceeds to gain entrance to Elysium, a place of cosmic revelations.

You are amyetri, a corporeal spirit condemned to live a shadow life in the halfway realm of Purgatory. Bring an end to your suffering by initiating the Rites of Orpheus and defeat the chthonic deities that dominate your fractious path to Elysium.

THE DEPRIVED INITIATE

Begin your journey with nothing but a broken sword. Only danake, the blood-soaked currency of the underworld, will afford you equipment better suited to tackling the Dismal Lords that stand between you and Elysium.

RISK VERSUS REWARD

The revenant creatures of Purgatory are consumed by the same hunger for gold danake that motivates your own quest. Falling to your enemies will cause you to lose your acquired wealth. Deposit your danake in the Pantheon before you die, or continue your run to Elysium and risk losing it all.

STRENGTH IN ASSEMBLY

The underworld is a lonely place. Muster up to three friends and carve a gold-soaked path to Elysium together. Deploy co-op specific gear and gadgetry to support, defend and revive each other on the perilous path towards eternal oblivion.

A HERCULEAN JOURNEY

Survive the harsh environs of the scorched cliffs of Theseus, the dilapidated temples of Orpheus, and the volcanic foundries of Hephaestus. Navigate crumbling labyrinths, molten lakes of pure gold, and shattered mountains caught in the swallow of Charybdian whirlpools.

THE ARMOURY OF ARES

The priestesses hold a formidable stockpile of weapons. Use your danake to gear up on powerful crowns and rings that grant the wearer significant advantages on the battlefield. Choose from a plethora of both ranged and melee weapons, then imbue your chosen armament with a host of exciting augmentations.

FEATURES

  • 1-4 player online co-op campaign sprawling across dilapidated temples, volcanic foundries, and ancient shipwrecks
  • A series of magnificent boss-fights against rare and unexplored colossal deities from ancient Greek mythology
  • More than 10 handcrafted and ornate javelins, swords, bows, and guns each with its own unique and upgradeable offensive capabilities
  • Gratuitous, brutal, blood-soaked ranged and melee combat against enemies with distinctive battle behaviors
  • Morbid gladiators: enemies in PERISH are unforgiving, and as you travel further through Purgatory you will meet a slew of enemies inspired by Ancient Greek, Roman, and Christian mythologies
  • Post-launch support: free updates to the PERISH universe, with strange new enemies and even crazier weapons to play with

I loved ION FURY, hope they dont screw up the sequel

Selaco demo is out! Played it and I really enjoyed it after getting used to how the game works.

The devs also have some humor

I LOVE this. When I talk about how games can still look amazing without the latest graphics technology, this is the kind of shit I mean. We need more devs experimenting with artstyle and rendering technique instead of just layer tech on top of tech.

EDIT: Gameplay feels like a mix between FEAR and Ion Fury, I'm digging it so far.

In motion, the game looks really damn good and has some nice effects going on. The environments feel interactive with a lot of shit happening during combat. Looks better to me than a lot of static triple A shooters.

I had to get used to the gameplay a bit. You have to take cover and play smart. Aggression can be useful, but even on lower difficulty, you lose health rather quickly. Finding the right way through the levels, you also have to be aware of things, there is no mini map and you have to look out for levers and terminals. There aren't huge arrows that lead you towards them, you need to explore the levels.

Stop, I can only get so erect. Sounds like this and Ion Fury will take care of all my shooter needs in the forseeable future. That said, mention above of FEAR reminds me I really need to give that a proper go some time.

The demo of Trepang2 features a slow story intro and needs some minutes until you can shoot stuff. But OH BOI once you can slow down time, it feels so incredibly good, holy shit it's insane.

I deleted it, will wait for the full game. I want to experience this when it's ready.

Just found out the devs of Severed Steel (great game, incredible support) are working on a new one, which also has co-op:

Severed steel is totally legit, I'd rank it above most/all of the other recent slo-mo shooters like Super Hot, Ghostrunner, Neon White, etc (though all of those are high qualitty too)

Remember when they announced DUSK HD 9 months ago?

I'm replaying the game and just thought about that. Guess it's dead?

Wished they would at least bring Dusk to X Box. Hate that the only console version is stuck on Switch.

Yeah it's not like it's a demanding game and that they'd have issues getting it to run on the consoles.

But it's a niche hardcore shooter. Don't know if they think the audience is there.

Bought the bundle because I wanted both Deadlink and Graven.

I got a spare key for Forgive Me Father , if anyone wants it.
