Thread: Microsoft Activision Blizzard Acquisition News |OT2| 10 year deals like candy (Update: Officially completed)

In an appeal to the U.S. 9th Circuit Court, lawyers representing a group of gamers suing to block the deal over antitrust concerns point to a purported internal Microsoft email they describe as "uncontroverted evidence that Microsoft had the intention to put its main competition, the Sony PlayStation, out of the market."

I love how pretty much every journo picked this up and ran with the story without looking at the facts
1) The email was from 2019 and pre dates the Blizz Activison stuff
2) The Judge (who is the same one on the FTC PI) threw out this evidence

I really do hope this circus just ends soon as its really showing what happens when fanboys grow up into Lawyers/Jorunos

I was just reading this at SonyGAF and Deep Enigma hasn't responded to requests to change the title to reflect reality nor has the OP bothered to update the first post with date of the e-mail that doesn't prove shit since it's completely blacked out. Needless to say, as usual the sony fanboys are going wild based on erroneous information.

So Deep enigma updated the title on the thread just now to
Email proves Microsoft's ABK bid is designed to elimination (Update: Allegedly planned as early as 2019)

That takes care of the discrepancy with the date of the e-mail. He just bends the facts to conform to his narrative. 3 years earlier Xbox was conspiring by e-mail to eliminate Sony with ABK. Sony fanboys do love their conspiracies. o_O :ROFLMAO:🤪

MS buy ABK. Then hopefully EA, T2 and Ubisoft, embracer and Sony all come together, conglomerating all of the shite that infests gaming into one area. Then, when their fan base - as fickle as it is, moves onto the next popular entertainment thing and the industry hopefully crashes, all the rot falls together, the cancer dies as one clump and industry can rebuild and recover.

Hope springs eternal.

This is low key my secret dream outcome here too.

As much as I find the idea of anyone putting all their eggs in one basket to be a foolish move I'll invariably criticise, the eggs in question here are the equivalent of Chinese Boy Eggs, so the case for accelerationism is a eeally strong one.

Nothing would please me more than to see every major player in gaming, bar maybe Valve and Nintendo, burnt to the fucking ground.

Valve and Nintendo should be spared as they cause no harm to the industry. Personally, Nintendo have never interested me, but I respect them for doing what they do, doing it well and resisting becoming reliant on cancerous 3rd party ideas.

The tech-crash is starting to happen; lay-offs, closures and restructuring is happening in the background. The gaming industry will withstand the crash at first, then it will collapse in freefall like a New York tower block.

Where will the gaming industry moochers and displaced persons move to once the industry contracts?

I can't imagine the levels of butthurt the snoy boys will reach if the deal ultimately gets approved. I'm lowkey worried for their health in that scenario.

I also feel bad for DenchDeckard. He's the only one left there trying to make some sense. Several people have already called him a shill just for pointing out that we don't even know the contents of the email. Very soon DeepEnigma will ban him for "shilling", I guarantee it.

One of my favorite things is how people still believe Sony wasn't planning always online for the PS4. it 100% was in the cards but they pulled the plug after the One reveal. The evidence is right in front of their faces and they still refuse. It'll be one of those things that in 10 years from now sony will admit it finally admit it and people will say it didnt matter.

All of these companies want to be the sole operator in their sector. $$$$

They are reaching REE levels of hivemind fanaticism. Xbox is the equivalent of JK Rowling and is inciting the PlayStation Genocide.

looks like they just gave up on one of their arguments for the merger to go through

Reading is hard.

Here, the acquisition would benefit consumers by making Call of Duty available on Microsoft's
Game Pass on the day it is released on console (with no price increase for the service based on the
acquisition), on Nintendo, and on other services that allow cloud streaming.

Lol i wouldn't worry for their health. They're pretty much as toxic as the reeetards on era who wish nothing but the worst on anyone with opposing opinions. If they're that deeply invested, fuck em. Not my problem 🤣

Sony's PlayStation chief privately said Microsoft's Activision deal wasn't about Xbox exclusives

A bombshell email in the FTC v. Microsoft case.

We're only minutes into the FTC v. Microsoft hearing, and we've already had a bombshell revelation. Sony's PlayStation chief, Jim Ryan, believed that Microsoft's proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard wasn't about locking games as Xbox exclusives, according to a newly unsealed email. Microsoft counsel revealed the exchange between Ryan and a former Sony CEO discussing the announcement of the deal last year.

"It is not an exclusivity play at all," said Ryan. "They're thinking bigger than that and they have the cash to make moves like this. I've spent a fair amount of time with [Phil] Spencer Bobby [Kotick] and I'm pretty sure we will continue to see Call of Duty on PlayStation for years to come."

The surprise revelation runs counter to Sony's arguments against Microsoft's Activision Blizzard deal and its filings with regulators. Sony has maintained it fears Microsoft could make Call of Duty exclusive to Xbox or even sabotage the PlayStation versions of the game.

Ryan went on to say, "We have some good stuff cooking. I'm not complacent, I'd rather this didn't happen, but we'll be OK, we'll be more than OK."
Microsoft initially offered Call of Duty on PlayStation for three years after the current agreement between Activision and Sony ends. Ryan called that offer "inadequate on many levels." Microsoft eventually offered Sony a 10-year deal for Call of Duty on PlayStation, but the company has refused to sign this so far.

Call of Duty competition fears were initially a big part of the UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) investigation before the regulator dropped the console concerns and ended up blocking the deal due to cloud market competition concerns. The European Commission also dismissed concerns about Call of Duty or Xbox exclusive games, but the FTC's case is largely focused on the potential harm of Microsoft turning Activision games into Xbox exclusives across console, cloud gaming, and multi-game subscriptions.

L oh fucking L.

Everyone still looks like clowns in this deal.

Not much to say on the other stuff, Jim Ryan is still a weasel tongued piece of shit and MS cannot be trusted an inch, which we already knew, but this specifically is a lie from MS. They came 2nd place of 4 in 6th gen, outselling GameCube by 2 million and the Dreamcast by around 15 million.

They are deliberately grouping Sony and Nintendo together. Its not a lie, its a play on words though.

Are you making some kind of point?

Even if they raised the price the same day the deal went through, that price hike could be because of reasons not related to the acquisition. It's all in the wording.

It's Microsoft. They will always do shitty things.

lol did you guys see this shit?

Xbox was such a small part of the COD pie that Activision forced them to take only a 20% cut instead of the standard 30% cut if they wanted COD on Xbox. There's that $2.6T indie company again :ROFLMAO:

Funny to see the contrast between the Reee thread and Iconera/Gaf

Reee - to my surprise is neutral (i think most of the fanboys have been threadbanned)

Neogaf - Still pretty much sony fanboys bitching about the microsoft exclusive stuff like Starfield/Indy Jones...ignoring all the anti-competive shit between Ps5 and Jim Ryans big lies to regulators

Icon- Pretty much your next extreme fanboy level...bitching pretty much everyting that Gaf is as well as the judge having a son that works at MS might be bias (CMA also had a similar thing with a ex Lawyer who worked for Sony)

Mobile gaming used to be cool, back when it was angry birds and throwing paper in a trash basket. Now its all just different types of MTX grind-fests. It should be renamed mobile leeching or mobile gambling addiction, not mobile gaming.

Issue has always been the control method
as great as bluetooth being able to be used with dual sense/xbox controllers on phones you still need to carry a controller around

Phone gaming is about convenience...this is why the switch is such a hit as its not only portable but you can dock it and play it like a home console
i honestly thing the next nintendo console will simply be a more powerful version of the switch and it will open it up to a whole new library of games

People really need to stop looking at this deal through the eyes of a console warrior
having games on more platforms is better for gaming in general

While this is about ABK being cunts to MS, I think this must be the reason COD isn't on Switch.

Sure, Nintendo are the market leader, but third party games are not the main draw on the system, and never sell as well as on Xbox or Playstation, particularly when such concessions need to be made to get games to run on their low powered systems at all.

Given MS claiming they'd put COD on Switch if the deal goes through, I'm going to make an educated guess that ABK made the same demands of Nintendo for a bigger cut, and Ninty told them to sod off.

According to SonyGaf, era is heavily Microsoft biased because they don't have a breath that smells like Ryan's butt cheeks.

The reason why SonyGaf thread is a huge echo chamber now is because everyone who's not a ps fanatic has been excluded from the thread.

And then there's a shell bomb like this, not even realising that the guy is in a one sided echo chamber lol.

"At least here both sides can argue. Over there you'll get banned for having a different opinion"

Me and @Phil_t98 has both been blocked from posting in the thread because we didn't agree with the fanatic mods.
