Thread: Indie Games & Hidden Gems |OT| It's Not About Size
Official Thread
Choosing to ironically post this one here:

1 Dev. 3 million wishlists. Best of luck to him and to those who just work on their games, no pre orders, no kickstarters, no promises. This one comes out on early access in 3 days.

Hope the best for him, and for the other solo dev who's also making the other, top of Steam charts most highly anticipated RTS...

Cookie Cutter, a hand drawn metroidvania. The animations are extremely good, I'm impressed. The style is totally insane. On sale on Steam right now. ... if you want to play as a lesbian android who's on her way to rescue her girlfriend creator, that is.

Nice style

...and we're baited!?
from the Steam page:

The story of Heading Out addresses racism, mental health (anxiety, depression), inequality, and other social issues. There is no graphic nudity, sex scenes, or violence in the game, but the adult characters sometimes talk about intimacy, relationship violence, and - very rarely - sexual violence. These conversations are not graphic. One of the game's villains uses hate speech against minorities.
ZERO reviews tell any details about the story, just that there is one, and I can't tell how much of this description is "trigger warning" or sets up some nonsense "modern day" allegory into a 70's style homage.

I swear it's exhausting with this shit.

Is the game woke or is it just a warning for the wokes?

That looks dope! You're really plugged into the indie racers huh?

I love arcade racers but in general, am very interested in many indie games. Retro shooters are my favorite genre but really, there's a ton of small games that got my attention.

Trench Tales Kickstarter is online! I backed it, great dev dude.

About the dev:

Hi, I'm Alexander Ponomarev, o r as known here in Japan ポノマレフ アレキサンダー, a seasoned 3D artist and Art Director with a diverse portfolio spanning numerous acclaimed projects in Video Games and Movies. Over the years, I've contributed my artistic and tech talents to renowned titles such as Prey 2017, Call of Duty Black Ops III, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Path of Exile and many more. With each project, I've honed my skills, learning from the best in the industry and pushing the boundaries of what's possible in digital artistry.

Currently based in Tokyo Japan, where I came from New Zealand with my family. I embarked on this journey to create something truly personal — Trench Tales. It's the realization of a lifelong dream to bring my unique vision to life, and I'm pouring every ounce of passion and expertise into making it a reality.

While Trench Tales may be a solo venture in terms of day-to-day operations, I collaborate with talented freelancers for specialized tasks such as concept art, sound design, and voiceovers. With additional funds, I would like to expand the team and get some extra help.

Trench Tales isn't just another project for me, it's a labor of love, a testament to years of experience and unwavering dedication to my craft.

Talking about indies, if anyone wants a key for Death's Gambit, here it is, first come first served.

I love how Twitter shows me all these indies

This looks like a modernized "pre-gta3"-gta. incredible. I love the visuals. Let's see where this goes.

all the snippets you post show that it's the indies where it's at. Even if some of them never release or the game is mediocre. There's at least an attempt or an idea to do something different.

Kickstarter for Moon Samurai won't make it, sadly.
Trench Tales is already nearly funded (6k to go) and will easily make it.

I backed both, but think Moon Samurai is the more creative and support worthy of these games. Can't understand how Moon Samurai is failing. (Trench Tales is still cool as hell and a great project)

Trench Tales is successful with its Kickstarter, already achieved two stretch goals, a crow companion and new weapon classes.

Next one is more challenging at 105k funding, but it's .... A dismemberment system! Which would be cool as heck.

Demo is available on Steam, but the devs said not for long before they pull it to fully concentrate on the game.
