Also clearly done in post. No way Ron Howard would film the movie like this. It's like Kennedy or whomever said we have to make it look as ugly and un-Star Wars as possible.

I think they went for the "lived in" aesthetic and to them that meant put the entire movie behind a grain filter and remove all saturation.

No, Star Wars is gay

I prefer Hardware Wars

You're gay for hardware

Since we're all sharing opinions:

1: Darth Maul awesome, everything else shit
2: Pretty battle sequences, everything else shit
3: An effort was at least made to satisfy the outcry of fans over the previous two. Pretty good over all, until Vader opens his fucking mouth at the very end with the NOOOOOO bullshit.
4: Timeless. I love it. Even the Special Edition didn't bother me too much.
5: Also timeless. Probably the best film in the franchise. Special Edition Cloud City made me moist.
6. Not great, but good, and very nostalgic for me. The Special Edition Muppet Show in Jabba's Palace and the blinking Ewoks can get right fucked, however.
7: Meh. Carbon copy of 4. I thought it was a good setup for expected greatness to come, however.
8. Die. In. A. Fucking. Fire.
9. Similar to 3, I appreciate that at least some effort was made to appease the outcry of fans over the unspeakable shitshow that preceded it, but it was too little, too late, and mostly nonfuckingsensical.

Rogue One: Love it. I consider it essential to a quadrilogy of it and the OT.
Solo: Not horrible. Doesn't feel like a Star Wars movie, but it also doesn't feel like a complete aberration.

In total, the franchise is an abject failure. 4, maybe 5, good movies out of 11.

Rose Tico is the fucking worst Star Wars character ever. I actually kinda liked TFA, and then TLJ came out. Fuck was that bad.
Yeah I didn't personally care that TFA copied the original movie. I thought it was a really cool introduction and was actually excited for the rest of the trilogy.

Man, did I leave the theater annoyed as hell after TLJ though. And then I quickly discovered that most people who had seen more than 5 movies in their lifetime and had an attention span that could decipher when a movie was bad felt the same way.

On a rewatch of everything with my family.

Takeaways:

1. Prequel trilogy is definitely the worst. Still. The dialogue and some scenes are painfully cringe. My kids were outright bored at times.

2. Original trilogy is definitely the best. More gravity, better acting, better dialogue, universe feels "lived-in" and real.

3. Sequel trilogy is solidly in the middle. Nowhere near as bad as some folks act like it is. Also nowhere near as good as it could have been after TFA. The transition from TLJ to RoS is jarring. If they were on the same page the ST could easily rival the OT. Also TLJ is nowhere near as bad as folks acted like it was. If they stuck to it then the ST could still have been great overall.

Also the Disney output is nowhere near as bad as folks act. Bad Batch, Andor, etc. are fantastic.
And I come back to read this shit. Wow.

Prequel trilogy is BEST trilogy, and anyone defending the sequel trilogy is out his mind. "The prequels are boring", yeah, movies can have dialogue and lore, too, and not just flashy action. FFS.

I use to be a major SW fan. But the last 25 years has not been kind to the property imo. The prequels were hot garbage and incredibly bland. Seriously, a Band-Aid has more flavor and personality. And then the Disney sequels are the an exercise in banality, completely void of purpose.

At this point I can only enjoy it if I just ignore everything post '98. But through that lens the original trilogy and EU is still supremely badass.

But in all honesty SW is simply The Empire Strikes Back. Everything else is just an introduction or expansion on that film. If/When they ever release a cleaned up (non SE) version of the film I will be all over it. I just want the THX remaster in HD.

Well wrap it up folks, Ubermensch picks the PT.

Makes me absolutely, 100% without a doubt positive I am correct in saying the ST>>>>PT.

Thanks Frankenfuhrer!

I'm glad someone else isn't talking through their neckbeard and pretending the PT doesn't suck.

The ST deserves plenty of criticism, but the PT was a steaming pile of shit that Lucas vomited up after SW got popular again.

Imagine a PT if Kasdan directed and Lucas got the ESB team back. Or maybe brought in Cameron or Spielberg (pre-Indy 4).

Rogue one and Andor were great, the rest of the new stuff is forgettable or insulting
