Thread: Gunn's Superman Trailer Dropped
Though it was something fanmade at first.

In a bad way. Looks like a tv pilot.

Said the same thing. I had to check the comments because I honestly thought it was a steaming show. And that last shot really felt very streaming.

Was this always intended to be a theatrical release or was it going to be straight to streaming like RED ONE and then got retooled for theaters?

The fact they put Guy Gardner in the movie is so fucking James Gunn. I remember growing up thinking that was the dumbest looking character and it makes perfect sense that's exactly who he'd use. He has a certain sense of quirky/comical-relief to even his most nefarious of characters.

It's almost asured in the future we're getting Mister Mxyzptlk, Lobo, Bizzaro played by bigtime actors simply because they're weird and Gunn likes that.

The one knock I had is it looked like Superman had shoulder pads/armor in his suit which just looked funky.

I will absolutely lose my shit if he brings back the most stupid fucking Superman character from the 90's but it seems like such a Gunn-move

Guy somehow looks even dumber in this movie.

Yeah....I don't get the optimism. Looks oddly cheap.

I don't think the optimism is about the visuals. Visual effects have almost no impact on whether a movie is good anymore. It pushes the right buttons. Optimism. Nostalgia. The emotion feels right in the trailer. Now whether the movie gets it right, we will see. It doesn't need to be some kind of visual effects spectacle. It needs to hit the right chords in terms of its message.

I dig Gunn's humor when not filtered through the Marvel/Disney machine.

I wasn't even thinking about sfx when I said that.

The scene with the dog in the sneak peak is both awkward and realistic at the same time as I could imagine a dog acting like that. Still weird to watch though. Was it meant to be funny? I don't think I want Suicide Squad/Guardians of the Galaxy style humor in a Superman movie. I like Supes and Batman to be played straight. They're not jokey characters

Krypto is still the biggest WTF about this movie. I don't know if him being in this is good or bad.

Why can't we get a hot Lois Lane? Always these average looking women. Aside from maybe Terry Hatcher I feel like we've only ever seen an attractive Lois in animation. Even in Smallville she was uglier than Kristin Kreuk.

Pretty sure Kryptonian dogs do not exist.

They actually do
In the original comic lore, Krypto was sent to Earth by Jor-El, Superman's father, as a test to see if Superman could survive on the planet. Krypto's rocket ship was launched shortly after Superman's, but due to a delay, he arrived on Earth much later.
However, Krypto's rocket is knocked off-course by meteors and drifts through space for approximately ten Earth years until it eventually lands on Earth, where Krypto is reunited with the by-then teenaged superhero, Superboy.

( look I don't write this shit and stopped reading a long time ago )

I think his joke was about how you can't film a scene in a movie with a real Kryptonian dog, and therefore, would be forced to use CGI to create that scene.

New trailer wasn't too bad. Nice parade of villains. Fingers crossed.

Yeah, 1978 suit (maybe 2013's S), then 2013. The 2025 suit's S basically looks like a slash. Just a bit too subtle/cute, ends up not looking right to me. No diamonds allowed?
