Thread: Gunn's Superman Trailer Dropped
That... was actually a good trailer. And damn, I didn't expect the appearance of so many other heroes like Guy Gardner, Hawk Girl and Mister Terrific. Seems like Gunn really is serious in making the DC Film Universe a thing. At least it feels like a comic book movie unlike the edgelord nonsense of Zack Snyder.

And leave it to Gunn to finally put Krypto in a Superman film. He's the only director crazy enough to do that. I'm actually intrigued by this film. Hopefully the rest of the previews are just as good and get me hyped up to watch it.

Lois is hot.
Luthor looks like Lex Luthor.
Krypto seems fun without being silly.
That dude who plays Superman looks 100% for the role.

Count me in.

add/edit: ah, and Superman actually helping people instead of annihilating half of the planet is also a welcome change... : D

Good trailer. Hopefully the movie lives up to it.
Same. We've had two failed Superman film reboots that failed for different reasons. Bryan Singer's Superman Returns was a lazy copy of the Donner/Reeve movies. Whilst Man of Steel was Zack Snyder's edgelord reimagining that puts too much violence onscreen and not enough heart.

I want an earnest and hopeful Superman movie that makes me feel good watching it. I've had enough of Batman's dark and angsty brooding.

That's how a trailer is supposed to be made and how a trailer is supposed to make one feel. I had goosebumps watching it. I'm still a bit worried because James Gunn tends to rely too much on humor, and he compromises the emotional scenes with jokes. I didn't see any of that here so there's hope.

Looks good and woke free aside from the everyone turns on superman trope that I am not interested in seeing in a movie.

Now maybe its just me but did anyone feel like this was a streaming series rather than a movie ? I was questioning if this was a new show on MAX and the end of the trailer really gave me streaming show vibes. Just the way it looked.

Its a low bar but no race or gender swap and seemingly no gay propaganda either.

Seems OK but was not blown away , then again I actually thought the Snyder Superman movies were not as bad as most people say.
Henry Cavill looked more the part not sure why they didn't just continue the series with him just under Gunn direction

Pa Kent telling his son to let him die in a tornado since he attempted to rescue a dog, and Clark actually letting it happen killed Synders DC verse from the get-go. Every connected movie was tainted by that vile act of anti-heroism.

There is that fear yes. But hopefully Gunn has enough sense to realize the character he's been given. Humor worked fine for the Guardians because most of them are assholes, Superman on the other hand isn't.

My hope is that the recent reelection of Donald Trump has finally convinced DC/Warner to do away with the DEI bullshit. And also, I hope this is a movie that celebrates America once again and none of that nation killing marxist bullshit. Superman is a symbol of hope, bring back hope to American moviegoers.

Oh I agree the writing was a bit retarded but the action parts were at least good .

Superman actually saving people is what did it for me.
There's a reason this page from All Star Superman is considered one of the GREATEST comic book pages of all time.

Considering All Star Superman is the films primary influence, with Donner and the DC Animated Series Second this scene or a variation will likely be in the film.
Did Gunn say that? I haven't been following the production of this film but if it's going take inspiration from All Star then FUCK YEAH. That is my favorite incarnation of Superman and probably the closest to the Silver Age version that DC likes to forget but always comes back to every time.

Yeah he did.

As much as I dislike linking IGN-

The Influence of All-Star Superman and Other DC Media
Gunn is adamant that, as much as the film is influenced by previous cinematic incarnations of Superman, it's also very different from the likes of Richard Donner's Superman and Zack Snyder's Man of Steel. In fact, if any one piece of DC media influenced Gunn's Superman, it's Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely's seminal graphic novel All-Star Superman.

"I think that all previous DC media influenced me," Gunn says. "I think that obviously the original Donner movie influenced me, but there's also a lot of things that this isn't, like I'm just making a Donner-type movie. It's very different from that. Zack [Snyder] did some excellent stuff. So there's a lot of ways that influenced me. There's a lot of ways in which the DC animated universe [influenced me], and then there's a lot of stuff from the comic books - above and beyond anything else, All-Star Superman - that influenced me more than anything. To take that sort of Silver Age feel, that sort of science-fiction approach to it with gadgets, Lex [Luthor] is really a sort of sorcerer in a way. He's a scientist, but he's so good at science and I think of him as like a sorcerer."

The super dog wasn't humorous?

I mean Krypto didn't talk or made a joke. He's been in Superman comics since 1955. What about that scene made you bust out laughing?

It's a super dog in a cape that leaves a giant wake of snow as he sprints to Superman's rescue.

It's silly.

Got emotional watching Krypto help superman, if this was Disney, they'd put some modern marvel humor their instead, glad they went with the bond between a man and his dog instead

That was very not horrible tbh. There's one shot of Clark walking around with dumb ass kid "cappin bussin frfr" hair and I got worried

But that could end up being good (or he just did a good job of making the trailer).

I like the first one where young adult Clark Kent goes to the North Pole and stays there until he has the dignity and knowledge to actually be Superman and then he comes to metropolis. He's not broken inside he's not some doofus he's not some young kid.

Looks like it could be good, but we've all been fooled by trailers before.

I hope this is an earnest Superman movie. I am tired of all the deconstruction, tongue in cheek, winking at the audience bullshit from the last 20 years. Give me an honest movie that isn't ashamed of what it is with a good message and I will be on board.

not this Earnest

I read from this post that you have the gays for "The Rock".
