Thread: God of War Ragnarok first look trailer

The game itself looks fun. It's more God of War so that's not a bad thing. I was expecting more of a graphical spectacle though. This doesn't look much better then the last game.
Damn cross gen is holding it back graphically I'm sure.

Everything looked good except for the boy's tantrums. I think I'd have been happier if this one didn't include the boy, tbh. I really hated the times in the last one where he acted like a little shit, and I get the feel there's going to be 100x more of it now that he's a teen. Meh. Also, is that girl going to be his love interest? God, I hope not - teen romance is the worst.

This PS4 Base also? Cuz graphics weren't blowing me away.

I remember God of War used to be the whiz bang graphical showcase game.

If you like God of War then this is your game though. Won't knock em they know how to make good games...

Ok that looks like it'll have as much BOI and father son drama as the first one. Which can be hit or miss.

I'm kinda bummed that there was no PC version announcement for the first one. Guess I will need to buy a PS5 some time next year to finish the first game with good performance.

That kid seems like an annoying whiny brat, and yeah enough with this stands out like sore thumb pandering. It really is the definition of tokenism at this juncture. Cringe and eye roll in equal measure. I also find it bizarre that they're all 'She's a Giant' which given it seems unlikely you're going to stove her face in, probably means your siding with them.

Dat soyboy Sweet Jesus 😂

Turns out Cory Barlog isn't directing this one.

I mentioned when it aired it looks good but completely more of the same. So it's good but certainly not a "next gen" evolution.

Just looks really dry and poe faced like the first game. It's a hack and slasher, just feel like it needs more pizazz. Finished the last one, but didn't really think it was better than 7/10.

Story gonna be something like Odin a patriarchal tyrant, so we side w the women on the "good side" but then big surprise one of the women is evil but the rest are good, and it's okay since you met a young princess who will take over the women (good) side when the bad woman (there's only one, maybe two) is dispatched. Good thing Kratos listened to his dead wife so that he could be a better father, a more sensitive lover, and a humble servant of queens.

In the end, Kratos will have enough of all that gods fighting over power drama and identifies as a totally normal mortal peasant human being without any powers. The other gods then have to accept it and need to pretend like he's just a normal human - and has been one his whole life.

Which will set up GoW 3:
The war between the progressive gods who accept that Kratos identifies as a normal human now, and the bigot evil gods who don't accept his true inner self.

I'm already excited!

Question, as a non-fan of these games: Do you guys like Kratos' son?

I've only seen videos and now this new trailer, but for me it just feels SO MUCH like it's obvious that he's either gonna die for a tragic moment eventually or run away or turn against his dad. It's just too clear in my mind that he's not gonna be "the next Kratos", and that makes all the attention put on him feel like a huge waste.

Opinions?

I could generally see a good possibility to build up the BOI as the next Kratos, if done well. As a grown up, he would need to have an amazing voice though, that would be crucial.

But I don't think it'll be what we're getting here. I think this one will be more of a coming of age story.

I definitely agree that it doesn't look like a generational jump over God of war 2018 however God of war 2018 is one of the best looking games ever made and this one is cross gen so it's hard to say what should be expected. It's just going to take a few years for us to see the potential of this generation but at least while we're doing it we can play games at 60 frames.
