Yeah, it fucking sucks.

I had the Mega Drive version and it was just as bad as the arcade (it didn't need to be) but the SNES version was way easier and doable.
 
I'm a Virtua Fighter guy to the core. Deep as an ocean. Easy to learn (conceptually) but so challenging to master. I always feel like there's room to get better, and that's incredibly appealing to me. Fights can be true competitive dances - a back and forth that feels like real athletic competition in terms of nuance.

Thoughts on what Arc System Works might be working on?

- they are finished with BlazBlue Cross Tag and with GranBlue VS, as far as I know
- they recently released P4 Arena Ultimate port
- they released the last of 5 Guilty Gear Strive Season 1 dlc characters, Testament. Total is now 19 playable characters

My biggest ❓ is whether Guilty Gear Strive Ver2 will be PS5 only or if they'll stretch out base Strive with 2-3 more Seasons of characters. GG Rev2 ended with 25 total characters in Summer 2017, three years after Sign launched with 14 characters (16 incl DLC). Somewhat related: GranBlue Versus ended with 24 characters.

One more season of Strive (assuming 5+ characters) would bring the game to that same total. If Strive got a Season 3 and/or a Version 3 and ended with a roster of 30+ characters I would be really happy
 
my guess is that they will be putting in rollback into their old games and releasing dnf duel

lol. Only tekken I got is tekken 3 for the ps1 emulator. Isn't it pretty similar to 7 though? I recall someone saying they were similar in some ways.
 
Fighting games are pretty insane, and I only play Smash Bros (which is way less intense than Tekken, Street Fighter etc.) but the game just kicks my ass with all the inputs. Carpal tunnel city

Probably the area that interests me the most is the emotional intelligence that being competitive calls for. It's a fight, but it's virtual. You still put your all into a gameplan and executing, adapting, knowing your opponent, yourself, the game and the rules, the environment. All these things come into play and the games can get very emotional since everything is put in and on the line. A win becomes more than a win and a loss more than a loss. It sort of becomes personal in a way is what I mean. The toughest part for me was always putting it all in check when I played because online often times you're playing against a bunch of pricks, bitches, and straight up pussies who just want to spam, win, talk shit, cry and quit if they aren't having their way. It's a lot to take in, fighting games and the competitive side

Yeah, Tekken hasn't changed too much all things considered. 3 added the ability to side step. Roster is larger, and move lists have changed/expanded since 3, characters have all been rebranded for each entry then subsequent patches. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Tekken 6/7 introduced Rage Arts which sorta cheapens the game, but if you know what you're doing you can easily block/dodge them. They're very cheap and have caused me to lose to players I clearly would have beaten otherwise

You can also unlock all kinds of goodies from the item shop, and character customization can be fun. Also Tekken Bowing is chill

7, 5, and 3 are my favorites. 6 is awesome too though, I play it on PSP

ASW releasing a new physical "Starter Pack" version of Strive, which includes the base game, the most current balance patches (incoming balance overhaul apparently), all Season 1 characters, and DLC stages. Not sure if some alt colors, stages, music, etc is missing DLC from this new version of the game.

Anyway, seems like this is their GG Xrd: Revelator, which launched with 21 characters and had 2 more added as DLC. Strive: Starter pack will launch with 20 characters and will (feasibly?) be able to add all of season 2's characters to the roster over time, another 6+ characters, which would surpass Rev2's total roster.

Not sure if I'll jump in now or wait for Double Starter Pack sometime in late 2023 prior to Season 3... 🤔

It's the console port of 6 that was the real issue. It was a big hit in JP arcades but after taking a long time to get a home port it shipped with garbage netcode and if you were for there for the SP, strangely it was focused on the Scenario Campaign beat-em up mode, which wasn't very good. So they kinda dropped the ball on both fronts despite a solid vs mode and the game having a lot of content (And better customization than any of the following games).

If you intend to play it for the long haul then no reason to wait for next year. You have to deal with a questionable lobby system that sometimes has connection issues but otherwise it's a super solid game. :cool:

Well that makes sense. Too many good games get bad netcode
 
Question for the fighting elites here:

If I love MK11 but not really like Soul Calibur nor Street Fighter, what are the chances I will like Tekken 7?
It is on sale 75% off atm on Steam and I kinda want the definitive edition, but not sure how much I will like the game.

Hmmm...it's much closer to Soul Calibur than it is to MK. Do you like the idea of fishing for launchers to do long juggles?

tekken 7 does not have story mode outside Hihachi x Kazuya final battle.

tekken 7 is not the peak of char customization of tekken series

tekken 7 has only a battle bgm worth of listening which is heat haze shadow

gameplay wise is like other tekken games but this time they went overboard with juggling
 
Mortal Kombat has always been my go-to. Never really got that good at any fighters but can really enjoy playing some MK or Street Fighter 3.

Tekken 7 is a pretty easy game to hop into and play but the problem with tekken 7 is that it isn't actually that good its actually pretty overrated its just abig esports title and compared to soulcaliber6 its actually inferior in almost every department save for the completely useless reversal edge thing.
