Thread: fighting game thread
I can imagine The r/fighters posts already. The big topic will be whether or not this should be banned I. Competitive play sf6 sucks the influencers lied to use but we'll keep watching them anyways etc etc.
It would be stupid not to ban it for competitive(And luckily it's not available online).

It's claimed to "lower the barrier of entry" by those desperate to grow the scene but this scheme isn't even something that eases you into the game. You have no control over the character's movement(And almost no control at all for that matter), it's just mashing the buttons while the game dynamically changes the character actions based on the situation. That barely qualifies as even playing the game. =S

Pro-tip: the best Street Fighter is always the Complete edition of last-gen's Street Fighter.

SSF2 Turbo
SF Alpha 3
SF3 Third Strike
USF4
and now... SF5 Championship Edition

...which is a much more enjoyable version of the game than vanilla, which I have owned and played since launch window. While SF6 irons out the wrinkles, all the players who didn't bother much with SF5 can jump in and be amazed

it'll get boring after the first match. We've also seen this autocombo stuff get mixed reception too. Nobody wants accessibility make a game that is more like classic street fighter. This game could possibly receive mixed reviews after it launches just because the journos used this mode and became bored of it.

I cannot even imagine this being fun.

Plus, given how good that is, it might be dominating even good players. Would suck to lose against some noobs because of this.

On the other side, I can let my 3 year old fight against me in that mode, and he will be delighted stuff is magically happening while he only mashes some buttons.

I guess the people their making this mode for is your 3 year old or this theoretical human whos supposedly played fighting games for 20 years and can't get a quarter circle down or basic combos.

I thought everyone was done parrying me in this game. I THOUGHT my SA1 Chun-Li in Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike was UNPARRYABLE, but this Hugo did it. They successfully parried me and now... I have to go back to the drawing board.

Really looking forward trying this out with a friend who is also into SF, when we are both using this.

I mean, if both just stupidly press one button repeatedly, how is it determined who wins the match?

might be a player priority thing where there's a certain pattern the cpu has in certain scenarios. I mean it can't be that smart.

Anyone get into the second SF6 beta? Only messed with it a little but good first impression so far. Feels really weighty compared to previous SF games though at least it's not slow. Drive Impact is Focus on steroids. Not used to the whole Drive cancel part yet though. Music is fine on it's own but doesn't really work as stage music in a fighter. Should overhaul that... Playing with the Hori Fighting Commander Octa which has been "good enough".

Also this shit defaults to "modern" controls. My first match was ruined due to that (Changing the controls in the options doesn't change the controls for the characters, evidently) and good lord are those modern controls limited. I would hate for SF to fully adopt those.

Edit: One thing that is very nice is the lack of loading (On current gen ver anyway). It's nice to once against instantly jump into games, view replays. spectate and such without SF5's 20 year long ad-filled loading.

SF2 is a trash game that no-one in 2023 should play.

Lately its been trendy to have hatred towards this game especially from people who would benefit the most from playing it. Maybe not as feature rich as some new ones but I mean whatever. Same community that loves supposedly loves mvc2 and 3rd strike hates the game that made the genre what it is. This guy is probably one of those people.
