I actually prefer Bacon.

It can convey the post or poster is sizzling, that something is universally loved, food, breakfast and the police.

I thought the cheers and coffee were more for something you love. Bacon seems more negative to me.
 
brain needs a cyber enhancement, transistors or something atop the pinky mass

star is good but lame, feels like you are winning a prize in bible school

100 is good yet overlaps with likes in some ways

bacon is bacon

shocked slash triggered face is somehow neither nor, not sure what to make of it

coffee is prolly the best of the lot, adapts well to various situations and mentalities

Why did I spend five minutes of my life trying to draw an ASCII Switch for three shocked emotes to gape at.

I feel like there's already so much. Can we get rid of the food emojis? Or the star? I feel like 100 and star are the same thing.

- 💯 is now irrelevant and should be removed.
- 🧠 be renamed to thoughtful. Reacting to something with "brain" doesn't really make much sense. Brain isn't an emotion or action. Everyone knows what you mean by using it, but the name doesn't suit. IMO it should be changed to :unsure: to differentiate it from GAF.
- ⭐ seems redundant now that there is THIS TBH as well as Strength.
- 🍻 is too specific. Only time it's useful is to thank someone. Seems redundant when you can do the same with a link, love, or strength.
- ☕ makes no sense. Similar to brain.
- 🥓 makes no sense. Should be changed to fire or burn.

It does show how complex this is, though. There's a very wide-ranging set of opinions over what emotes are best, what should go, etc. I said star should be nuked, didn't expect any pushback, and a prominent user actually loves them.

Any decisions will have to be carefully made and considered.

I do think we'll have to decide what we want to be first. Do we want to be a traditional forum/social media site with just some core reacts? Or do we want to go Discord with it, and really open up the system to choice?

I think we need to go with one direction or the other. Standard core reacts, or more wacky reacts that give us a bit of personality.
Since we are already going with non standard ones like coffee, bacon, and cheers, then I say we go all out on it being a bit wacky.

How about we add PepeWeird?

Too many yellow faces in the current reacts.
Who gives a shït about exact meanings - type a post if you need to be specific.
We're dpad, not every other boring and standardized shithole out there - let's be different.
 
Also, more of the reactions should be game-based.
A Pac-man face, for example.
Super Mario mushroom.
DK barrel.
A bullseye or rifle scope.
A fighting character.
A racecar.
Etc etc

I'm definitely not opposed to game related reacts, but they need to have some sort of meaning, otherwise they're pointless.
They're supposed to be reactions. They need to convey some sort of meaning. What the heck would a DK barrel be used for?

"Hey what do you think of the latest Zelda game?"
"Oh, yeah, I think DK barrel."
"Huh? What does that mean?"
"Oh you know, M Bison."
