Thread: Do you collect 4k UHDs? I'd like to discuss the current state of the medium in 2024

Another nail in the physical media coffin

Or maybe it just means that with solid state storage getting so big and more affordable, there's no point in burning your data onto stacks of blu ray discs anymore?

Those recordable drives and discs are not the same thing as what is used for 4K movies and games from what I understand.

It also said Blu Ray disk media too. And I said another nail not the final nail

You're under the impression that in a week, you can no longer buy physical PS5 games or movies anymore because the production has stopped?

I'm under the impression that you're mentally handicapped

Blu ray games for PS5 and 4K movies will be produced for years to come. They are no longer going to produce recordable media because no one uses that shit anymore.

I know you read a headline on one of your forums and you got all worked up about it, but keep it in your pants, Tay!

Coming soon!

According to my porch camera it looks like my copy of Hokuriku Proxy War (1977) was delivered!!!

Been waiting on this release. I pre ordered back in October. A Fukasaku classic, so glad it got a modern release-release.

Edit: Watched it tonight. Fuck is it a fun one. Such a tight Fukasaku production. Shit tons of subterfuge, but with repeated grounding of the gravitas due to the setting. Outside the Battles Without Honor series it really might be one of my favorites of his work.

How'd you get Social Network?!

Ironically enough this is almost verbatim part of an argument I overheard my wife having with her younger sister last year, when we were first moving stuff to our new house, and the sister asked if we were taking the 'useless old DVD's' to a charity shop.

I inherited quite a few from family members that way. Every season of The Office, Scrubs, and Futurama for free?! Sure!

They looked at me like i was insane for sparing them

Aye, we have a load of old rare and long out of print British TV shows and movies that way, stuff that isn't and likely never will be on any streaming service, and is not going to get rerun on terrestrial TV outside of the early hours of the morning on BBC4 for a special 'season of 60's period drama's' of something.
